Great News on Luke Shaw. Best LB since Bale

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is a far better left back than Bale was. Bale clearly was not meant to be a left back. Far better as a winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

The way he bombs forward, reckon shaw could be a good winger too

Agree0 Disagree0

There are signs that Luke has a good engine, and we'll see him getting far better going forward as he gets a little older.

Shaw signs 5 year deal confirmed on OS!!
Great news for Saints especially after Victor Wanyama signed yesterday. (didn't a certain Ed here insist a number of times that Wanyama would just never happen? oooooooooooooopps)

Panic over, Shaw signed a 5 year contract this evening. Doesn't matter who we get in now, as far as I'm concerned, this is our best signing of the season.

Still may be in for Damaio as Internacional president claims there have been no bids for Damaio from Napoli. Now they have signed Jose Callejon they may not be interested in Damaio. So he may be ours if we put in a good price

Jermain lens is the player we should get, great winger that is willing to shoot and has pace. Also I would choose another captain lallana lost it as a player for me last season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Schneiderlin will be announced as team captain before the start of the season

Agree0 Disagree0

Jeremain Lens has already moved to Dynamo Kiev. He wouldn't be able to move again.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lallana had a stop start season with injury, when he was fit a the start he was one of our best players and I think he looked great in a central role as well as on the wing, lens has attitude problems anyway, someone said he's the dutch joey barton? so no thanks

Tom ince has turned down cardiff after 8m fee agreed i'd love saints to go for him well worth 8m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well he decided to stay in Blackpool to be closer to his family, including his newborn son. I doubt he'd go anywhere to be honest, aside from if a top 4 came sniffing.

Agree0 Disagree0

So you mean he has decided to stay at Blackpool till a top four club came in

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the 2nd post about his alleged reason for not signing but similar things were said before we signed Sharp.

I think we need to look at CB again now, I don't want to much to change but, but I think we need another left footed CB like Simon Kjaer, who could start, for us, I think he would be quality.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Be amazing if we Signed the Danish pair of Kjaer and Eriksson. We can dream

Agree0 Disagree0

Simon Kjaer is right footed and he signed for Lille about a week ago.

Just a thought, would you be happy to sell Ramirez for £18million (rumoured transfer to Atletico Madrid)?

I was keen to hang on to him and hoped he'd shine next season. But would it be a bad thing to let him go for £18m-£20m then re-invest that amount in other players. We could probably afford Damiao, Stoch, Sinclair and Banega if we sold Ramirez.

Makes me think it might be worth it, considering he hasn't been anything special since joining. Make a quick £6m profit and move on.

Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We can afford anyone, we have billionaire owners, we don't have to sell to buy players anymore, anyway we only really need a CB, winger and stiker now and we should be ready for next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad you are not financially responsible at Saints-your maths. are at least £15m out!

Why would the club start to cash in on young talented players now? That is what the project is all about.

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Keep him I'd say. He needed time to bed in to the team last season. He's happy here and looked good in the recent internationals. If we keep switching players we'll lose the team spirit we've built up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we need to sell ramirez for money? I thought we were backed by a 7 billionare.

Agree0 Disagree0

You wouldn't be buying all 4 with the sale of Ramirez add another 20 million maybe

Agree0 Disagree0

No point selling him yet. He could be worth 25-30 Million if he has a good season this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Foreign players always take a year to settle in

Agree0 Disagree0

OP here - Saint Martin, I'm just saying it frees up a lot of money to put elsewhere and makes it a lot more feasible that we could afford them all. No one knows our actual transfer budget so how can I possibly be 'out' and have my maths questioned? Instead of trying to be clever, just answer the question I put to you. I don't wax lyrical about your terrible punctuation or penchant to make irrelevant remarks under a juvenile pseudonym.

And obviously the reason they may cash in on young talented players is to free up more transfer budget for other talented players. I'm also sceptical about how talented he can actually be in the Prem, because Hooiveld and Fox aside he was one of our most error prone players last season yet was our most expensive.

And to first responder - having billionaire owners doesn't mean bottomless transfer budget. Cortese would have agreed a spending allowance with the owners prior to the window opening. I'd imagine it is in the £30m-£40m region but no one truly knows.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh shut up you fanny?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh wot he said above

Agree0 Disagree0

"We could probably afford (4 players) if we sold Ramirez"!

We can afford them without selling Ramirez-so your point about selling Ramirez has nothing to do with it. It doesn't make anything "more feasible". You have no idea what the transfer budget is, but your question, and subsequent comments suggest you do. Does that answer your question any clearer?

Or maybe I could have explained that MP has already stated he wants to hold onto the young talented players at the club?

Don't start a stupid debate about punctuation (punctuation in a text?)as a smoke screen and make silly remarks about what names people sign off with. At least we leave a name so people know who they are having a discussion with.

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

OP : Nobody seems to agree with you. Is that why you didn't sign off with a 'juvenile pseudonym'? Doing so makes me think twice about the content of my posts and enables people to hold me to account for any rubbish posted.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I don't think we'll be selling Ramirez. We've got another £20m to spend on a striker, so I guess our transfer budget will be around the £45m. However, I'm sure that Nicola is clever enough to be able to find additional funds should the right players be available.

I believe that the £30m figure is what was given to the club from Katrin Liebher for transfers, and that the club also has funds available from TV and prize money, so the yearly transfer budget could be as high as £65-£70m.

I'm going to make a stab in the dark and say our next signing will be from the continent within the next week so they can link up with the squad before preseason fixtures start. I've found it interesting that there's been no word with concern to Nainggolan or Banega from the media for the last few weeks; the Wanyama and Damiao sagas may have mutually helped cover up other negotiations Cortese has been working on. With Forren (surprisingly) gone I think Poch may yet add another reinforcement for the back line before the season starts as well.

Saint Q

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It was going to be Nainggolan or Wanyama I reckon. doubt we will get both
