Nigel Adkins will face Cortese, the Southampton executive chairman, in court this summer after failing to reach an agreement over the terms of his exit, following his controversial dismissal in January.

The 48 year-old guided Southampton from League One to the top flight with successive promotions but was sacked with the club three points clear of the relegation zone.

Adkins, who is being represented by the League Managers' Association, attempted to settle the dispute with Cortese amicably but has been unable to finalise his pay-off and is now taking legal action over what he believes to be a breach of contract.

Adkins is free to work again now the process has started and is understood to be keen on making a swift return to management.

Huddersfield Town were interested in speaking to him earlier this year after the sacking of Simon Grayson but Adkins was still negotiating with his old club and was effectively on gardening leave. But he has been cleared to return and could be in the frame to take over at Reading, who parted company with Brian McDermott on Monday.

Hope Adkins takes Cortese to the cleaners. Absolute disgrace of a man.

You mean the Cortese who saved Saints from liquidation, where they would not have had a need to employ Adkins? (And don't waffle on about Markus-yes, a great guy, but he made it quite clear it was NC who pushed him to save Saints.
Who is the disgrace?
Go along the coast where you belong!

Is pochettino really doing a
better job than nigel adkins
here is one not convinced
no doubt others will say
otherwise even when they
are doubtful

Agree2 Disagree4

Is Pochettino doing a better job? Nobody can say for sure on that because the recent results could have been the same or different if NA had stayed-who knows?
However, the squad obviously relish playing the new systems and if Saints are serious about European football this is the way to go. I also believe the ability to attract new talent to the club will be enhanced

Very tricky to say if Tino is doing a better job than NA but I suspect NA wouldn't have thrown lead away v Wigan and had more of a clue of what to do when struggling v QPR.
Great win today though so let's keep backing saints and hope we stay in the prem.
