Hearing from A LOT of diehard saints fans (including me) are not renewing season tickets until SFC board make the right decisions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Diehard (noun)

A person who vigorously maintains or defends a seemingly hopeless position, outdated attitude or lost cause.
Resisting vigorously and stubbornly to the last.

Therefore a 'diehard' fan would support their team stubbornly and vigorously.

We have just had a great season, I cannot remember a better Saints team.

Support them and the board!

Try and be a 'diehard' fan!

The non renewals might might just be the nail in the coffin! Buck up and support your team!

Agree0 Disagree0

You lot call your self diehards but you are just supporting the selling of our home grown talent. We who are not renewing rite away are trying a strategy to keep our best players for the progress of our club we don't want to be a standard run of the mill club with no ambition either does MoPo.

Agree0 Disagree0

And trust me the fans I am on about are seriously diehard saints fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think die hard is the right word then, real die hard fans got season tickets in league 1 and kept getting them until were in the prem, I'm guessing your one of them, so watching us with a slightly worse team isn't going to be as bad as supporting us through league 1 is it? Times aren't that bad mikey!

I can't see us hanging on to MoPo, look at Laudrap, touted as the next Madrid or Barca manager during last seasons effort with Swansea, then sacked and jobless mid way through this campaign. I think he'll go for a bigger club before he messes up and gets sacked! There are many coaches out there that can do us proud. We have a great squad and awesome academy, our future is not dependent on one man. With regard to Shaw, I think he'll go, Target is coming through as an emerging talent and the big fee will pay off existing debts for transfers and leave a profit added to the money we'll get for Osvaldo and the slice of TV money, I'm certain we can invest in a keeper, centre back, left back and striker. I think Lallana will stay

Malkay M? Are you serious?. I would be gutted if MoPo went and we ended up with a manager from the championship with little or no prem experience. We need to get someone in that plays the ball on the floor game with pressing if MoPo goes. If spurs go for Mo Po and he leaves, it will be because the investment is not there to push us on. Now dreading the next few weeks!

Ok am I the only person that thinks every player may not want to leave? If 90% of our players believe they deserve to play for a "big club", and we are managed by one of the best managers in the league, then why did we finish a lowly 8th? Surely nearly all of our players believe saints is the best place to develop? If not then good luck to them

Hi, Liverpool fan here. I'd just like to say that I have a lot of respect for what's going on at Southampton right now. You've got a great team, you're financially stable and have a fantastic youth set up. P. S. Can we have Lallana please? ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Forgot to sign in, sorry Eds

Agree0 Disagree0

Problem is if you had him we wouldn't

Agree0 Disagree0

No, grow your own talent
Lallana's ours, Fullstop.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoah guys, I was trying to be nice ;) Don't blame you for wanting to keep him though

Hi was wondering if there's any truth to saints telling utd that Shaw is not for sale at any price?
Also if there has been a meeting between mopo and the board? Eitherway I will always support saints! Coyr

Poch to get an new deal and if Shaw leaves the death will be paid off and investment into the squad depth will be made

Rumour is we rejected a 27m bid for Shaw and said he's not available for any price and that we want 30m for Lalla, after Liverpool bid 20m, I think this is to put them off and I can't see them going up to the 30m, any truth in this Edds?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Not in the prices.}

Ok but is there any truth in that we rejected a bid from Man U and told them Shaw's not for sale at any price, and is there any truth that we told Liverpool we want more for Lallana then?

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea were given a price in January which they found unacceptable. Perhaps if that were met matters would be different.}

No Adidas deal for next season. Probably an own-brand kit. Throw in a small-time sponsor and the likely sale of a number of key players, is this Saints' future now, cheap and cheerful?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Adidas will make the kits for another two seasons, just cause one side apparently didn't like how the other did things (whether or not that is true) doesn't change the contract both signed. Are small companies, even own branded, really a sign of being small time though? Liverpool use Warrior - who had heard of them before they took over Liverpool's kits?Tottenham use Under Armour - had they even made a football kit before Tottenham's? Roma made their own this season. A lot of bigger foreign clubs use macron

Veho are definitely not a small time sponsor, they're huge in Asia and the Middle East, with the realise of the co branded products it'll improve the knowledge of Southampton FC in those areas, exactly what part of Kruger's job is

They're more than likely not leaving but players come and go, if Adam and Luke leave then they leave, it's not the end of the world, we'll have 70 million extra to buy other players and we'll probably have our own replacements soon enough anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

Mmmm, I'm of the thinking that some players are irreplaceable - look at Bale at Spurs.
IMO both Lallana and Shaw are awesome and staying (fingers crossed).

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with SaintySaintSaint, but I'm adamant that any of the first team players will want to leave at such a high point in the Southampton history.
Neither Shaw nor Lallana are irreplaceable though, the Bale situation was completely different as nearly £100,000,000 was spent in the wrong way, if enormous amounts were paid for Shaw and/or Lallana, Krueger and Pochettino would spend a lot more wisely in my opinion and we'd have a strike force and defence good enough to push for top 6

Agree0 Disagree0

Adidas contract terminated: confirmed. Seems like the new board tried to patch up whatever problems Cortese had with Adidas but were too late in doing so to rectify the situation - at least for next season.

Bit of a shambles, really.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No retaining the current squad is my biggest concern

Is it only me and Poch who understand that he is under contract for another year and does not need to get extended contracts sorted yet? If another team come in for him, just refuse to let him go. That will give us 12 months to find a decent replacement.

Psycho Saint

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree, there's never been a moment from what Poch has said that has told us he is definitively off this summer. And given how Spurs fans have reacted to the news of Tim Sherwood's sacking, Poch would be making a huge gamble if he was to leave us for Tottenham. It's easy to get carried away by it all given just how much the media is attempting to cause a storm from it but as fans we should have belief that the board will make the right decisions. And again, I'd much rather have a boardroom like we do then the one they have at Tottenham making rash decisions as they today.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's never said he would stay either. As Ed said people come and go, saints do need it sorting well in advance of the new season. A new manager always brings in a few of his own players. Move on ramerez and oswaldo both poor signings for the money ( did poch sign them)

You people need to chill. The panic is unreal atm, look at it like this we are at the end of the 5 year plan and we managed to get to 8th. that's pretty fantastic considering we was in league one with minus 10 not to long ago.

Next chapter is what we are at now and its going to go either of 2 ways. 1. We carry on with the european football ambition and the owners pump a lot of money into the club meaning mopo will sign a new contract and we keep pushing for 4th.

2. We slow down what we have been doing and aim to be a top half team meaning yes we will lose a fantastic manager and a few more ambitious players looking for champs league football eg lallana who let's be honest deserves it

Only the board know what there willing to do and either way il still be a saints fan. If we do sell some players at least we know it won't be for cheap and we will get a nice wad of dosh out of it. Sometimes you can't meet the ambition of some of your players as a club so maybe lallana will peak with us and need to move on to progress just like bale did with spurs. If mopo goes il be gutted but enjoy this season still. When we find out the clubs next 3-5 year plan we will know what's going to happen like the eds have said a lot of the media hype has been blown out of proportion because of the comments the club have made. We don't NEED to sell but we will sell if the money is to good to turn down. its how we invest it that i'm looking forward to seeing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Completely agree, also feeling pretty confident that Shaw and Lallana will stay. I feel that the club will feel and play a lot stronger after the summer :)

All this transfer 'news' is doing my head. I honestly believe there should be a new rule that says no club can bid for a player who has more than two years left on his contract. Simples. A player can still leave but he must put in a transfer request and thus losing all his 'loyalty' bonuses.

A contract would then mean something. This is not just about Adam and Luke, thought it for some time. Your thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The problem with contracts isn't the rules around it, it's the perception of their value. It's generally perceived that contracts aren't worth the paper they're written on. Contracts aren't overtly binding, they can be broken with ease which is the main problem. Football runs on a concept known as the 'subjective theory of value', this means essentially that the value on all goods and services within football is self-determined. In transfers for instance, the value of a player is determined by the arbitrary value the seller places on a player and the arbitrary value the buyer places on the player. Players have no intrinsic values as they are both a service and a commodity. As both the product and the employee placing a value and creating an absolute ownership on a player becomes very difficult. On the one hand you own them and have produced them and on the other they are an employee with rights. This same sort of concept applies to contracts and this is why they are perceived to have little value.

If you want to change the insanity around contracts you either need to make them much harder to break (to leave or be sold) or you need to change the perception of their value and meaning.

Rafa Silva, 20, linked as possible Lallana replacement. No idea if it's true, but you can see the likeness in styles - if anything the young Portuguese has got more pace. Bright prospect. Would be even better to keep Lallana and play him with Silva.

Just seen that we have rejected UTD's bid for Shaw and said he's not available at any price.
This can only mean we will say the same to Liverpool,
I have also heard we have got kaspar schmiclel on one of those odd transfers.

Shaw has reportedly turned down Manchester United and Liverpools offers after stating his love for Southampton FC. No one is leaving Saints the pre-season other than the odd one or two fringe players. Rumours circulating around the club that Saints are looking at Chris Sheehan and Welington Silva to bolster the squad.
