Not a bad England start for Lambert it would have been perfect if the goal was 2 inches wider. Let's hope this is sign of things to come.

I hope we get Osvaldo but with Spurs now interested are we going to lose out?

It's exciting to be 'linked' / rumoured to be interested in players of the quality that we have heard about in these pages. Of late I have started to wonder how good it would be to have Osvaldo sign for us but where does that leave Rickie Lambert? From what I see, Osvaldo is described as a forward/striker, can he play in other positions? If not, then at £20m, wouldn't he be our first choice striker and leave RL on the bench? It is likely to be a fairly long season for us but without European competition and perhaps just one cup run we won't be playing loads of games so squad rotation is unlikely to be a major issue like it is at other clubs such as Chelsea, City etc. Would we want to see RL on the bench so much?

I love Rickie and hold in as much esteem as anyone who has played for us for what he has done and where we are because of him.
However. He needs to have some of the pressure taken off him. He's not young anymore and has never been blessed with pace. We need someone else in the team who is going to get us a lot of goals. We need to think about the future seasons.

1) we need more options up front.
2) players need that level of competition to get the best out of them.
3) MoPo know Osvaldo well. so I'm sure he knows how he'll fit all our superstars into the team.

And finally. 4) the season starts Saturday, so let's sit back and enjoy the show

Hopefully Woy has some sense tonight and plays Rickie. I'll be cheering him all the way and I hope he bangs in a goal! Make us proud! COYR!

Disgusted he's left Rickie on the bench. Lambert is better than a Rooney who isn't even match fit. He's only just come back from an injury seeing him out of the pre-season.

Had to laugh when ricky powered that header in my missis burst into tears with pride. felt like doing it myself!
