Well that was a terrible game. Both sides struggled to even do the basics, but Saints muddled through to the next round.

Sadly, Wanyama pulled up with a hammy, which leaves Saints in bad shape certainly for the weekend game with Newcastle, as Scheiderlin is out too. I'd take a point now.

I continue to be concerned with the attacking quality of the side - the team is increasingly just lumping the ball up to Pelle and hoping.

Tadic continues to frustrate. How many times is he going to wimp out of challenges, get weakly knocked off the ball, and ruin promising attacks while he does four step overs and then loses possession, before Koeman gives him a rocket? He had a chance tonight to run clean through on goal but he just gave up. Threw the towel in. I think we're beginning to see why, in spite of his technical ability, no major sides have taken a punt on him.

One of those games where a win doesn't fill anyone with much confidence, but we'll take it and move on.

Fingers crossed for the Newcastle game. I'm not hopeful, though.

Just seen the team for the game tonight. Just one question where are the goals going to come from ? Hope I'm completely wrong in 2 and half hours time.

Ok I was wrong and a totally boring game was brought to life by a superb goal by Shane. I think we'll have to create a few more chances on Saturday though with our missing midfield/defence, just can't see us keep on keeping these clean sheets, by the way has Fraser got his boots on the wrong feet?. God knows what we would do if Jose got injured but what a great club player he is and will be a legend ( he is now ) at SFC. I think we will beat Palace and with the crocks returning who knows could be a big day out in May, well you can dream !

According to our official site at SFC they are stating that Elia is not eligible to play at Ipswich tonight. Just like someone to explain why as he is certainly not cup-tied. Just curious.

He wasnt registered for the initial tie so can't play in the replay.

Hi Ed any truth to the reports Jack Cork has rejected a new contract with us? I can understand he maybe frustrated with lack of game time

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know if he has rejected the offer or not.}

Ok Ed appreciate the reply I personally hope he signs it but Could understand him wanting to go for regular first team football

From the sound of the interview he gave the other day he is going to fight for his space for the rest of the season then see what happens.
The way I see it he will sign either if he nails down a first team spot or we get cl (meaning he will play a bigger part as we will need the whole squad)
Otherwise he clearly wants a regular starting spot, and who can blame him. I hope he does well whatever happens.

If that is his decision jmSaint I would find it a little strange. Can't see he would get many games ahead of HR during the rest of the season if this was his approach-unless we suddenly had an epidemic amongst our DM's.
Signing a contract does not mean he could not leave in the summer, it would just mean the club would be paid. He is a good player and there would be many clubs willing to pay a realistic fee for him, and this would not be difficult for him to organise with Saints ahead of signing a contract. At the very least, that would give him the rest of the season receiving more money (double???, according to one media source) whilst he fights for his place.

I am not sure but Jack has been a great servant to Saints over the last 3 years or so but never seems to hold a permanent midfield place down which I think must frustrate him a tad. He is certainly worth having in the squad and at this stage he may get more chances than Harry Reed due to his experience. He is a versatile player that has even covered at central defender before and full back. I just think he is maybe waiting to see whether another PL club makes a move for him but deep down I feel he would very much like to be involved with our march forwards. A very difficult choice for the player but just hope he chooses to stay because we need players of his quality and commitment, seems a top bloke too.
