Okay guys, everyones been a bit miserable after that FA cup defeat on the weekend, so I figured we ought to be a bit more positive. That in mind.

Which youth player are you most looking forward to seeing break into the top ranks? And which youth player do you think currently is most deserving of getting a game? I'm going for Jake Hesketh and Omar Rowe respectively.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree, bro. Hesketh is a favourite for me, his goals against Portsmouth were world class! I haven't seem too much of Omar Rowe but if you rate him alongside Jake then he must be great! :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree about Omar looks a very exciting prospect

Agree0 Disagree0

There are so many kids coming through with great potential. I really want to see more of Harrison Reed, since I really rate him, but we already have a congested midfield when it comes to player development.

Further down the production line is a kid that really excites me. Josh Simms. While only 16, josh has already played several games for the U21's. He has a great relationship on the field with Jake Hesketh, who also looks great.

Who knows how many of these kids are going to make it, but sooner or later, I think we'll end up having to send some kids out on loan to get them more first team experience.

Don't see why we didn't put out a stronger side yesterday but I to be honest the side we put out should've been good enough to deal with what Sunderland put out, we weren't outplayed, just a poor game with one moment of quality which no one can deny is a fine strike by Gardner. We just couldn't seem to string our passes together and I'm not going to lie Ricky has probably won the miss of the season award there, so really we should be having a replay at St Mary's but at least now we can focus on the league and really go for that 7th place which is achievable as we're only 3 behind Utd, so it is doable! COYR!

I can't believe the lack of passion from saints fans watching there team go out in a tournament they had a great chance of winning
Wheres the heart where's the ambition the fight!
All I hear is oh well never mind there's always next year
Seems to me there's no soul left in the club!
We should be up in arms over the way we went out! the league cup exit was bad enough but what happened yesterday was unforgivable a complete lack of respect to fans and the history of are great club
And from a man that's only been hear a year?
Champions league football that's a joke!
The FA Cup was real!a great chance of so silverware 1976 was a long time ago? I feel for are players Adam Rickie Luke jay and the rest that really wanted to win the Cup
IMO there Manager let them down big time and my heart goes out to them all?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Eh? Go on the Daily Echo site. You'll see nothing but people being annoyed and very little "oh well never mind".

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers just been on the echo website that's more like it!!
The manager and staff should be strung up! If they had no intention of trying to win the game then the traveling fans should be refunded disgrace

I sincerely hope that after a period of cool reflection those Southampton fans who chose to boo the boys at the end of the match are suitably ashamed of themselves.
Those of us with longer memories will remember the days when used home advantage of a poor pitch in poor conditions to maximum effect at the Dell Sunderland did no different yesterday and were victors for two main reasons firstly expert use of home advantage and conditions and secondly cynical manipulation of a poor referee.
To Southamptons eternal credit we went out attempting to play the passing game, the very Southampton way that entices us to support them. Niether did we spend the afternoon falling over to try and influence referee.

On the down side it is clear a stronger team may have fared better. Much as I love Guly i'm afraid he is not the standard at which selection for this Southampton side could be merited. Also the shape Perez chose to employ with Wanyama sat in fron of the back 4 brought the midfield back and induced into the old style deep defensive shape which I thought Pochetino had overcome clearly with Cork roaming further forward we would have been launching attacks from from thier half of the field instead of from our own penalty area.
I repeat I am proud of the boys and ashamed of the fans who chose to boo at the end apart from anything else it denied me the chance to show my appreciation of the team

Agree0 Disagree0

And why shouldn't fans boo they pay there money to be entertained
Not travel to the other side of the country only to have the manager stick out the same squad that where knocked out by the same team that beat us in the league cup! we all new what was going to happen when we seen the team sheet and I think are manager new exactly what would happen as well!
How dare you defend him or the team it's a disgrace!
The fans have every right to be upset!

Agree0 Disagree0

I´m sure that these rediculously over the top reactions will soon be forgotten when we win next week!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I'm sure they will see people have a short memory span!
But not a short as the never mind gang
There's always next time people brain dead zombies
If you don't care if we ever win anything go and follow dorchester or some other team!
None event fans you've got to love them?

Agree0 Disagree0

To the nameless poster, you may be the most over-sensitive Saints supporter on here! Yes it was disappointing not to win yesterday, but the seasons not over as the likes of you are putting it. There's plenty of fixtures I'm looking forward to watching in the coming months, and most importantly seeing which players are rewarded by the end of it by heading off to Brazil. Since the start of the season Saints have played better football than anyone expected, fans and critics included, but one disappointing performance later and you think Pochettino has let everyone down. I get that it's your opinion but you need to accept that these are the highs and lows of football. Not every game will go our way, but as fans we should at least be respectful enough to the players and management who are committed to pushing our club to the next level.

Agree0 Disagree0

You my friend are exactly what I'm talking about?
I can deal with loseing that's not the issue!
It's the manner in which we went out?play your best team get in front and then bring on subs its easyer to defend a lead than chase the game?plus stupid comments from management!
Ie: we played are strongest squad that rubs me up the wrong way!
And by the way I feel for the players I'm sure they would have loved to go though!
The blame falls on the managers shoulders no one else's
And what is it exactly that we are still playing for this season (champions league?)
The manager has come publicly and said he's not interested in UEFA league so the best we can hope for is what?
8th!?
But by all means you watch the rest of the games because if you close your eyes real tight and ask the magic fairies we might just get into the champions league!
I rest my case!
Seasons over deal with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

We do not have the squad to compete in the league and cups, we play a very high tempo game, even the fittest players need a break from that. If we had the squad to be able to compete in the cups as well as the league you wouldn't be moaning and crying about refunds after a few changes. Quality squads take time to build, we have a good first 11, that's it. Cups will come, but we need another 5 quality players before we can realistically compete in League and cup

Someone suggested we took the FA cup as a joke, saying we disrespected the fans who travelled, then went on to say that should we have won the FA cup, play youth in Europe. What?! what about the fans that travel then? Will you bitch and moan about them being disrespected too?

If we went full out in the cup, got a few players injured and ended up dropping out of the top half of the league, you'd moan about that!

There's no guarantee we would have gotten through to the final playing full strength anyway, to risk the league on 1 extra game at a time is stupid

The players we played yesterday may be called upon later in the season if we have injuries/suspensions - they need game time too.

what if we had won a cup this season, would potentially being next season's Swansea be a good trade for a cup? No. I'd take playing a weaker side in the cups if it means stability in the league.

We we're in admin 5 years ago, League 1 on -10 points and now we have a great chance of finishing above utd, 7th in the prem - that's not positive enough for you? Maybe you should stick that Chelsea shirt you bought 5 years ago back on.

Agree0 Disagree0

What are we playing for? We are playing for potentially our highest league finish in decades (7th, perhaps higher) which would be a huge achievement with the squad we have and in only our 2nd season back in the premier league. It's a shame your support falls short of seeing Saints play week in week out no matter the situation in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you people only hear what you want to! MoPo dose not want UAFA football he has said this publicly so if we Finnish in 7th we would be in
So the best we can Finnish is 8th
Just we're we are? And we are 11 points clear of 10th so what are we playing for? Newcastle and Southampton are fighting out for 8th place understand! Unless you think we can challenge for 4th
The Season is over! this is why people are unhappy about going out of the FA Cup it was the only thing we had
Left to play for! But if we had won it that also would mean UAFA cup that's why the manager showed no interest in it? Is really that had to understand!

Agree0 Disagree0

To the above poster, please stop!
We're all in agreement that the team could've won yesterday with a different roster bla bla. but honestly it doesn't matter.

We have a wonderful coach and some brilliant players, 3 and counting who are good enough for international level. Now none of that could be said a few years ago when Saints were in the Third Tier but you cry like the world has given you the greatest injustice.

So quit complaining! Just praise the team when they do well and put their losses into perspective. The F. A cup can be forgotten about, smile and little stay cheery, the world's not over. 😊

Agree0 Disagree0

All he did was rest Schneiderlin and Rodriguez anyway, it was still a strong -ish line up, just a bad performance and still could have easily got a draw anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

Schienderlin, Rodriguez, Fonte, Cork, Boruc. were rested Clyne came in for Chambers. Although Club spokesman said Rodriguez and Fonte weren't 100% the rest were rested poor decision IMO Cork or Schiederlin should of played instead of Davis with Ward-prowse further forward and Boruc should of played instead of Kelvin. Kelvin is way out of his depth IMO, was poor against Burnley when I saw him and his kicking on saturday was atrocious
