Everyone keeps talking about signings. We could lose our chairman and manager soon. Signs not looking good for next season

We don't know what this means for next season yet.

Until there is some clarification regarding NC/MP/the Trust for next season there will be NO signings. Who would join a club not knowing its future?
If we do lose NC/MP it will be through the Trust not supporting their ambition and so we will lose most of our talented young squad who will want to follow their own ambitions if Saints can not support that, so summer signings would then become a whole new ball game of replacing lost players rather than supplementing an existing really good squad of young talented players.
I think everything is now on ice until the Trust and NC can sort matters out. That will only encourage the "vultures" to come closer and try and pick off our players (see todays Times for confirmation. )

I know I'll probably get a lot of hate for this, but does anyone else agree that arshavin could be a decent signing? An experienced premier league player, I know his attitude has been questioned and wages may be an issue, but doesn't he run out of contract soon? Well worth a punt I think.
Believable0

We have enough experience and Arshavin isn't good enough anymore, let him return to Russia. Plus his wages are astronomical.

No, your wrong.

We could't afford him anyway, Cortese will be on his way soon, seems the trust don't want to spend the money he wants to, wonder if its anything to do with the 30 million he borrowed.

I think he would be he is a good player

He's awful. Why would you want him anywhere near our team?

Quote from Poch on Saints official website-
"We want to have everything set up and tied down for 1st July, so we're working as if everything is as it is. I have total confidence and faith that Nicola will be here next season, and that I will be here as well. "
Over to you NC.

You people need to calm down a few comments have been made and a lot of this is people's guess work trying to fill In the gaps.
Cortese wants to push on an wants the baking to do so, I doubt he would leave web he's taken us this far In a short time. Now the media have it ahold of this (today) it's now a big who har buts its completely blown out of proportion.
I for one won't be worrying until I see it say on the official site cortese has left the club.
Hopefully that's a long long way away

I was slightly worried by the fact Pochettino (obviously after talking to NC) felt the need to give him such strong support as it means the rumours are more than media sensationalism. Hopefully this will push the board to give him what he wants. As I've said before on these boards I think NC would try to push the board out before resigning himself (he is a banker after all)!

Pochettino will leave if Cortése fails to agree a new deal. Worrying news and confirms that there are problems behind the scenes.

If cortese and Pochettino both left, but the trust still gave saints financial backing, would it be a bad thing if we tempted Mancini on a 2 year deal as manager?

Yes it would be terrible.

But I love my club, I don't want it turning into a Chelsea style joke!

Dont want mancini
but would have di matteo

Ha ha ha. You must be crazy or just know nothing about football. Do you think Cortese is threatening to leave because the owners want to throw money around like Mancini would insist.

Pochettino says he would consider leaving Saints if Cortese were to leave, as he sees the future of Southampton being with Cortese and believes everything the club is at the moment is down to Cortese.
Gotta say, that'd be a bitter blow if we lost both of them, I for one hope Cortese manages to sort things out. I could see a tough old summer keeping our players and a hard season ahead if we lost both of them.

Ugh since when did football become so complicated.
We need Cortese. The Liebherrs can do one. Thanks for the money but the success is entirely down to Cortese.

Totally agree mate!
I suspect a great deal of the debate about the development of Saints is not so much about player signings but expansion of the ground capacity. NC knew perfectly well the new financial "rules" were a stitch up proposed by the "elite" clubs that would help maintain their position but make it very difficult for any club with a much smaller fan base to compete in the really big league (CL. ) He fought against it but did not receive adequate support from other clubs who seemed happy to maintain the them and us situation.
So, the only answer is to expand the fan base and the income this could produce, and already does for the likes of the Man. clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea. This takes a great deal of cash-especially if you want to do it relatively quickly.
I hope a solution can be achieved, otherwise I think the original post will be spot on and we will be back to how Saints were last time in the Premiership, leading to the same end conclusion.
For those who continually criticise NC, you could end up getting what you want, at the expense of his clarity and good business sense and see Saints become one of the clubs (at best) in and out at the top table along with perhaps another dozen current EPL clubs.

We are expanding our fan base by making Southampton FC well known in other parts of the world like Japan and Africa, but that'll take time to really impact our support.

With the exception of the Blue Few I can't think of single football team that has had so much rubbish associated with it Lowe, Redknapp, relegation, Wilde, Lowe, the Dutch dream team, relegation, administration, Markus's death and now this I bleed red and white but I have just about had enough.

We cannot have any more transfer rumours until the Cortese/pochettino business has been sorted out! Let's hope it is sorted out very soon and that they both stay so that we can get down to the business of buying new players for next season. Cannot believe the Liebherrs do not want further success for Saints. Come on for goodness sake believe and trust in Cortese! He is a very clever man and cannot afford to lose him! In Cortese and Pochettino we trust!

Never dull being a Saints fan is it! Hope the owners back Nicola asap so he and MoPo can get on with the job of moving our great club on to the next level. It would be such a shame if they were allowed to leave having done us proud so far.

Um. So when afew weeks ago I stated that everyone needed to calm down about the amount of money we had throw around in the summer I got slated and told I was talking complete rubbish. I hope to god this all gets sorted soon don't want to get left behind in the transfer window again. It was always documented that the rest of the family was not as interested as Markus. Maybe they feel now is the time to move on after backing us to get back and stay in the prem. maybe they have a buyer lined up who knows but one thing I do know for sure is its never a dull day being Saint.
