On a positive note our new training facility looks class, why would Katarina fund all of these projects and then stop funding us as soon as we get good, we spent £36million this summer on transfers, she wouldn't agree to that if she didn't want to grow the club, she has said and Krueger have both said that they want to keep growing the club in the Southampton way, Krueger wants to increase our reputation commercially abroad, they wouldn't do this if they didn't want to grow the club, so I still think they'll match Pochetino's ambitions, I think he'll sign a new contract and convince the players to stay by telling them that clubs going to push on for European football and further, then the player will stay as the club will be trying to be ambitious, we'll get some quality players in in the summer and continue to progress, I espect Katarina to back as much as she did last summer COYR!

Gutted, thought it was a dead cert he was on his way to St Marys, oh well maybe we might just keep Lallana then.

So here is my take on events:

MoPo gives a commitment to see out his contract at least.

Adam Luke Gaston Spider Lovern not going anywhere until after the World Cup.

Board will commit to two cash signing. Likely to be British (Caulker/Shawcross) and (Ings/Rhodes).

Two frees come on board Kasper/Fabianski and Aaron Hunt.

Marquee signing on loan from Spain after Brazil.

Lets keep calm and support the Saints.

2nd poster it's not that unrealistic really is it? I'd be happy with that, although I still think Poch will sign a new contract

I thought I've just had is that poch earlier this season seemed to delibarately dodge qualifying for europe via the cups because he felt it could be bad for us next season so if he was planning to leave why would that concern him? Surely qualifying would look better on his c. v. if he was going to leave?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is unlikely to go from us to join Spurs unless offered ludicrous terms because he knows the job has high levels of insecurity. The Spurs manager post goes through more staff than defence against the dark arts teacher (for the Potter fans out there).

Poch may or may not be going to leave us, but he's not a fool and probably will know Spurs is a bad idea unless he gets ludicrously favourable terms from it.

All gone quiet. Even the papers that copy and exaggerate other papers reports are not mentioning saints at the moment -is this good or bad? Could be that we're concentrating on our own affairs i. e. sorting MP contract etc. Or, it could be that the board have told the other clubs to silence media connections so not to hurt season ticket sales whilst they finalise sales.

Worried.

Please please please give us some good news saints. Mp signs new deal and no stars will be sold would be pretty exciting.

So worst case scenario is that we lose Mopo, AL (25m) Shaw (30m) and Spider (15m)
Hopefully that doesn't happen but if it does it leaves us with 70m in the bank.
Manager in - Laudrup for me. similar good football
Players in -
Lukaku - 20m
Ings - 7m
Caulker - 10m
Rodwell - 5m

I just hope it doesn't happen and we actually add some of these players to our existing squad to take us up a couple of rungs of the league ladder.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lukaku, no chance. He'll get CL or stay at Everton. Plus how do you think we will attract top players when our own players jump ship to fulfill the same ambitions. Get real. Best case scenario, we keep them and push on. Realistic scenario, we lose 1 or 2 but for mega money and retain some integrity. Worst case, we lose more and then spiral into mid table mediocrity and will forever more be just an academy for top clubs.

Agree0 Disagree0

I may be wrong but didn't Laudrup cause massive ammounts of unrest in the Swansea dressing room. If my memory serves me correctly, the players were far from keen on him.

As for Lukaku, I'd imagine as the above poster said he will be in high demand, particularly from clubs who will pay him higher wages and offer CL Football. The others would be decent signings, but we would need a creative midfielder to replace Adam.

Agree0 Disagree0

Laudrup was rumoured to be far from professional - cancelling training to take a two day personal holiday in Paris allegedly being the straw that broke the camel's back at Swansea.

It's going to be a tricky one for Saints to replace Pochettino - the whole club has bought into his style: all the age groups play the same way. So it wouldn't make much sense to bring in some long-ball dinosaur and completely abandon what was supposed to be a long-term plan to cultivate a certain style of football that would become synonymous with Southampton.

But how many managers out there would be realistically available who preach a similar brand of football?

The Chile coach, Jorge Sampaoli, was a student of Marcelo Bielsa (as was Pochettino), whose teams play a high pressing, attacking, attractive style. And he's leaving the Chile job after the World Cup. As far as I can tell, he'd be the most obvious like-for-like (assuming Guardiola isn't going to swap Munich for Chandler's Ford).

But do the new kingmakers of someone who has no interest in football and is just carrying on her dad's business and an ice hockey coach have enough knowledge of the game to find that suitable candidate? The fact that Malky MacKay seems to be the early favourite for the job, in spite of his teams being the antithesis of what Saints have been building towards for all these years, worryingly suggests they don't.

Agree0 Disagree0

That was actually a very good post, with some decent comments, makes a nice change from all the 'made up drivel' that people post. nice one.

This is why we will see what Les Read is made of in the next few weeks.

Luis Enrique is rumoured to have quit Celta Vigo - and is supposedly lined up to replace Tata Martino at Barcelona.

Oddly, Barca could win La Liga this weekend.

Would that mean Martino (another Bielsa disciple) stays and Enrique (steeped in the Barcelona way and even coached their B team) is left swinging in the breeze and available?

It's pretty ambitious, but either manager could be a nice fit for Saints.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not such an unrealist post Lukaku would be an ambitious signing, but the other are definetly doable even if we loose Lallana, Shaw and Shneiderlin, I still think they'll stay

I don't get this whole 'I'm not renewing my season ticket unless so and so stays' thing. Surely being a supporter means supporting Southampton no matter who's in charge and who wears the shirt? Makes me wonder how many of you were around 10 years ago.

Hi Ed, is there any interest from us in WBAs Saido Berahino? Could be someone to grow with the squad alongside Sam Gallagher. Heard he is unhappy in the Midlands

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Most people in the Midlands are unhappy, Deano, and no wonder! There doesn't appear to be any Southampton interest but he is a decent young player from what little I have seen of him.}

I agree I like Berahino, looks quality
