Apparently, the players we want to sign in this window have been lined up for a while and the reason we wanted to avoid Europe was that signing them would have pushed us over the Uefa FFP. Not sure how true it is but it's something I've heard lately and sounds quite plausible.

As long as the long term plan is to 'avoid Europe' we will be ok then. FFP looks at spending in previous years as well as the current year. If you bear in mind that we have already invested heavily in the last two years, I wouldn't expect us to spend in the manner in which you are implying.
All players that we sign will usually have been scouted and will therefore be 'lined up' for some time.
I don't think we tried to avoid Europe this year. I think Poch took a risk against Sunderland which backfired and saw us out of the cup. We weren't good enough to achieve Europe in the league. That said, what a year!

Hi all
I believe the structure at SFC is based around 3 key people Manager, Director of football and Chairman.

The logic of which is (which seems sound to me) that if one were to leave the strategy would be continued.

Let these very well qualified and paid people do their jobs and trust them until they let us down, and In my opinoion the club has been honest to us until now.

Don't panic We have had a great season, do we really expect our manager and players to go under the radar? This is the type of attention we want if we want to be top prem club

Things will undoubtedly change but don't expect the worst just because the big clubs are circurling with their wallets open.

I have no idea what is coming our way but any self respecting business will not jeperdise itself by selling all its best asset's or allowing it best employee's to move to the oposition.

Put some perspective on this situation and it can't be all bad.

Recent rumours heard at work yesterday of that Liverpool have put bids on the table for the lawnmower AND the tea lady are surely cause for concern, ( laughed my leg off at that one!)

Sensible post Weymouth sfc. The owner and Board will strive to retain our best assets. Whether or not they're successful is yet to be seen.

I find it irritating that even on MOTD Gary Lineker & Co stated that it was shame that SFC will have to "sell their best players. ". As if it was a fact.

Let's hope we can prove them all wrong!

Yh that annoyed me too, saying it as if it had already happened and was no chance of us keeping them, in my view we are not to far behind spurs and man u at the moment and with a couple more signings we may even be above them! Both are going to go through transitional periods too
