So breaking down the details of the Mane speculation from today, the club have made in clear through local media outlets that he's not for sale, and additionally that United have made no bid, no contact with the club, nada.

I think this was a really poor move on United's part to save face on the fact they knew their fanbase would be disappointed at missing out on Pedro. By giving the impression they have a stronger hand with other options, it gives them time to actually go and negotiate a deal for someone else.

They may well have done, but my point still stands that this was a poorly timed leak from United as the enquiry was supposedly when they were in contact over the Schneiderlin over a month ago!

It's a farce that a certain six teams choose to dictate the media in such a way. Ok, nothing may come of it this time but there's still the possibility it unsettles the player. If Mane has a bad game tonight, a lot of people will put it down to him being distracted by the speculation.

Even without the influence from these teams the media still seem to be stirring for another 'meltdown' storyline for the club. It was speculation on Fonte last week, and as well as Mane, there were stories on Wanyama and Pelle yesterday. All before an important game for the club, something makes me think the timing was very specific.

Seems like every single paper/journo etc is against us, hates what we're doing, wants to see us fail and will happily help stir up speculation and unsettle our players. I don't buy any papers anymore because of it. Royally f@#¿s me off! Hopefully the fact we have koeman who is such a legend of the game and a cool, calm figure can prevent the squad being unsettled and pushing for moves. until we sign up big vic on a new contract though I'm a bit concerned that we will be seeing the same thing every year. You can't lose ALL your best players over 2-3 seasons because it just breaks up the squad too much. And whilst we have replaced those that have gone brilliantly, you can't do it year on year because there just aren't the players coming through. I wish we would start giving some of our new signings some longer contracts though!

Just watched the Celtic game and was very unimpressed by VVD and the game was played at a Championship level . Very poor defending in general but Virgil in my opinion made Yoshida look like Franz Beckenbaur and to me that is a worry . No way a finished product and has a sort of Gung Ho way of defending, doesn't get tight to his man and commits himself too easily . We can do better than him and I hope RK can see that too.

100% agree looked really poor tonight, plays like a poor version of david luiz, decision making poor either dives in or backs right off allowing forward to square him up, u do that against countless players in epl and they will murder u, really hope its not him were waiting for and hope we go for koubaly

Mane a United target?

We must do an Everton and refuse any bids for any of our rated players. If we don't we might as well pack up and go back to the Championship.

What is the good of trying to build up a great squad only for the big boys to raid it each time?

Sugget its now time for a European Super League where we can get rid of Man Utd, City, Arsenal Liverpool and Chelsea, where matches can only be watched by subscription, whilst the rest of us have decent football to watch which isn't burdened by these clubs.

The PL is becoming a boring farce.

The big clubs are fishing well off the little clubs, and the players are drawn by only one thing. MONEY!!.
Loyalty and contracts don't exist, since Le Tissier, whose going to be our next Saints legend?.
He will always be one of a kind, a special talent, who entertained for the love of it, nowadays the almighty buck rules, its the nature of the business.
I agree with gtsaint, the PL will become boring, with only 4 0r 5 teams with a chance of winning it, Mane is looking sharp and WILL get more goals for us then last season, RK won't sell will he??

They would still buy the best players and subscription would only line the pockets of the big clubs further . allowing them more pulling power alongside the offer of playing in the superleague. After last year when the pl looked pretty poor standard this year every team looks capable of winning games and more to the point winning against the " big teams" we can't use wage caps because it would need to be introduced internationally. Unfortunately facts is facts , saints have come out and said it themselves we are a development club at the moment, we will buy players via the block box and will sell them for huge profit and so on and so on. the worrying time will be if any of these big clubs develop their own "black box " or scouting teams to cut out the middle man (at the moment . us) saints have a great chance of doing ok considering Europe and players leaving and the fact the pl looks unbelievably quality this year

Catch 22 about this super league , I agree it seems to make sense but there would be a problem , money . Most of the big money in the game comes from TV rights and that would be lost to the lesser clubs and subsequently put some out of business . The TV would then exclusively show this super league and neglect the rest , I think we are stuck with the situation as it is .
