Southampton have a Championship midfield but a weak strikeforce with an average and slow defence. Unless an experienced striker at this level is signed and two quick and strong defenders are signed, then Southampton will be battling relegation next season.

I think an average strikeforce and an average defence are fair assessments, Fonte is premiership quality. I think the current squad is mid table, but with a quality striker and centre back playoffs can be a realistic target.

1 good centre back to partner Fonte, and we have a top 6 1st team.

Lambert is strong but very slow and although prolific in league 1, he won't have enough time on the ball to do anything with it at championship level. Barnard is not Championship quality at all and therefore I think more than one good CB is required to be a top 6 team. Harding is not good enough at this level either.

Lambert and Barnard are not PROVEN at championship level, but otherwise there is no evidence to back up what you're saying.
Also, Dan Harding had his best game of the season against Man Utd, obviously their second string side, but easily championship quality, no?

Why has lambert not been signed by a championship died before now then??

BArnard scored a shed load in the championship when he was there with southend before they went down. He kept them on his own for 1 season, just not played there with us. We will struggle for 1st half of the season and pick up for a play off position for the second half. COYR
