Hello all, for those who follow this site will remember
my comments back in Aug. I was accussed then of being a Skate fan (chris).I mentioned predictions of the past two seasons and commented on the set up
N/A was insisting on persisting with and if things did not change it would be over by March.
I would be interested on thoughts from all regarding
the state of play now.I notice that quite a few fans
are disgruntled with the set up now and calling for a change in management would this be the answer? is it to late.

I do not think it's too late and I don't think too much change is necessary. I mean there are clearly some problems but I think the problems are in the selection process not with the squad itself. I mean yes we might be better off with some new Left backs and Centre backs (well one of each) but I mean if we stopped picking Hooiveld, Boruc and Guly we might get better results. I mean Gazzaniga has been great in goal and I really don't see why Boruc was in goal he's old and really not too great. Hooiveld is not great and lacking confidence. He needs to drop down to under 21's and build himself up again. Finally as for Guly he is past his prime (or what there was of it) and really we need to pick better players in our side. STOP PLAYING GULY. He can't attack. Mayuka, Lambert, Lee and Ramirez are all alternatives who didn't get games today... Why not? Honestly... :(

Agree mate, I too said something similar and was blasted, Fact is Atkins is tactically very poor, poor vision of what's involved in prem, poor signings, BUT is Cortese pulling strings, why else would a player bought by cortese like guly be playing in first team AND rewarded with new 2yr contract, no sense. In a game we could've claimed 3pts he drops Lambert plays overated jay rod up top on his own, BUT THE worst thing is the live after match interview where he stated he is playing 433 end off no lee way, how blinkered and tactically worse can he get , WE WILL be down by Feb if he stays, 1) cost us points with bizarre subs against utd, 2) played narrow midfied against everton who have great width with baines, pienarr, Coleman, 3) bought off Lambert to 'qoute' shore it up as fulham to much space! When we were 1v0 up, 4) todays starting 11/formation 5) although didn't play today perserveering with the worst left back in prem , 6) awful transfer movement, we knew we needed l/b 2xcb top keeper instead skinned our beans on ramirez, i don't care if deluded saints fans slate me, I've been a saints fan now 35yrs and as its going WE will b a laughing stock once more

Please stay away from all saints web sites and St Mary's. No faith, no support for a regime that has taken us so far so fast. YOU are not a supporter, YOU a laughing stock.
Agree7
Disagree4
Ah another deluded fan, get real if u cannot see the fundamental problems like the true football fan can, ATKINS is not good enough for prem, we need a manager who is tactically astute and not blinkered by this 433 that he has confessed that he's sticking too, without his strange subs would have had another 5pts, we cannot go and out score teams like the last 2 seasons, wake up n/a and n/c ur 5yr plan will fall flat on its arse unless something is done, on average prob need 37pts to stay up, take away top 4 team fixtures leaves us about 25 games so already need more than 1pt per game , big ask? Or impossible?
Agree1
Disagree4
Not deluded. The problems are obvious - LB not good enough, centre backs making mistakes, midfield too open at times, Guly is shocking and 1 thing I do agree with is the subs have been strange. But it's not ADKINS fault that we haven't nailed down some defensive buys - that's not his department. Adkins has made mistakes but he is still a young manager and will learn. We have been very harshly punished when you see the goals to chances ratio. You're just one of those dipsticks that as soon as things don't go your way you moan and forecast doom. You're not supportive.

A Saints supporter for 35 years, yet you don't know the name of the Saints manager??
Before you start slagging him off, have the courtesy of getting his name right!
Of course you have the right to your opinions, but you are the sort of supporter who in a few years time will be making the same negative comments about our problems with coping with European football (probably asking why we did not learn to play 433!). What on earth do you think Cortese makes of such gratitude for rescuing the club, spending millions on players, staff and facilities and then at the first setbacks there are these people who can make a better job of running the club than he or Nigel ADKINS can?
Obviously an Echo reader, or an 'arry fan. Can't understand why, but there still seem to be one or two left.

Have to admire soton fans, european football?,lol, only if ur going for a hol to spain for a kickabout on the beach. you all know you are heading back down.

Another of the "you all know" brigade!
You may think that, the majority of Saints fans don't. Whilst we have our fair share of whingers most of us recognise what the club has achieved and the plans it has for the future. A clear cut 5 year plan was set out by the clubs owners and Saints are 2 years ahead of schedule, so why should we not expect to overcome our current hiccup?
You sound just like a skate, but unlikely to be one as you can spell!

Still deluded , thinking its just a hiccup, face facts, you're a cham'p club at best ,and thats where you are going

Another hatful of goals conceded. To all the deluded saints fans,Yes Adkins is a good manager but not prem quality. This result was the final nail in his coffin. You could tell from his post match interview that the writing is on the wall. Please Cortese give Harry another chance to make amends before it is too late.Perfect start against his former club spurs starting next sunday COYR.

Last season we never lost to west ham just shows how far we have gone backwards
Agree9

Absolutely no way Cortese will bring in Harry!
Whatever Cortese's failings he is no fool, and will not risk the fans leaving the club in thousands which would happen if Harry was brought in. What has the guy ever done for our club?
If NA goes, I think it could see a top continental manager replacing him-certainly not Harry.
Agree5
Disagree6
West Ham have come very far forwards we just haven't done it by anything like as much. Plus we were down Ramirez. I think the main problem was the wrong side was selected. Guly should never play. Hooiveld isn't up to it at the moment and Boruc is awful. We need Gazza in goal. Fonte and Yoshida at Centre back. And though I hate to say it, Fox on the left... Finally Guly has so many un used players better than him in the squad. Mayuka, Lee and Lambert all should have been played before him... I hope Guly leaves in January...

Guly won't leave, just been rewarded new 2yr contract, wtf

Lets face it,soton are destined for a quick return to the ch'ship, which is the right level for a small club, up the ammers

You'd be nothing without carroll
Agree6

I'd take Gordon Strachen back tomorrow. With him we were going places and it was only Rupert not allowing him to get in the players he wanted which halted our progress.
Agree8

Up the ammers? A club funded from porn where the pervs sing about odd practices with chimps?
Rather lose 4-1!

Can't think of anything worse than watching a big girl called Carroll on her back for best part of 90 minutes with her mates moaning and groaning at the cameras! Certainly would not want to pay for it. Much prefer the real thing.
Not an angel, but a Saint!

Love the chimp joke.
Any fan would rather watch a team like Southampton that play football the right way, than a bunch of hoofers with their star man - a loanee.
The results will change. We've had harsh luck and been harshly punished for momentry lapses. Plus, we've played a lot of hard fixtures already so we'll get a run. We'll soon catch those hoofers.
In Adkins we trust - (But play Lambert you person!)
Tony

The 'ammers' wouldnt have won if Carrol could stay up on his feet. It was like watching Bambi on ice
Agree1

The hoofers have had an easy run-in whereas Saints have had the hardest and been unlucky to boot. The table doesn't tell the story - but it will...

"Hammers are flying"-I think the form of travel is "diving"! One day you may try to play football but not whilst Sam is there!
As soon as the results start to go against you it will just be the same as last season "we want Sam out, his idea of football is rubbish". Predict that will be around Christmas, especially if Carroll clears off.
Agree2
Disagree2
Just like soton fans, we want adkins out, he's not prem standard manager, pot and kettle come to mind.
Agree2
Disagree2
Cleaver to be so stupid!? If you look at the recent "poll" very few people want Adkins out, and almost no supporters. Just lazy journalists and WHU pervs. who are so used to slagging off Sam and wanting him gone, they think all clubs are the same.
Saints supporters may whinge a bit, on occasions, but we want our club run properly, and to try and play entertaining football, which brings success (two out of three ain't bad!)
I see the same jounalists are now calling for Mancini's head.
Even after our crazy performance last weekend our match this Sunday was sold out a week ago.
We will see what the end of the season will bring but I suspect we will still be in the Premiership and will be above the other two promoted clubs. We WILL get better, can you say the same for your team?
Agree1

Wonder how many WHU supporters will come on our site after todays result at Wigan? "Outplayed" was the word I noted from the commentators.
Never mind, looks like another Saturday night with your porn instead of M.OT.D.

NA is doing a good Job. He's unfortunately been given a tough job. Sounds like he's having to pick Guly, he couldn't have known that Boruc had lost all his steps and really Hooiveld was a tough choice but unfortunately wound up being made... Really Adkins can do it we just need the side at strength.
I reckon if he drops Boruc, Hooiveld and Guly we can see wins pouring in. Gazzaniga has been class in his few games he should be our no 1 by a mile. Hooiveld has lost all confidence and needs to move down to under 21's just to build himself up again. Guly is past it and just doesn't know what he's doing. Lambert, Mayuka and Lee are all much much better... End of
But if we focus and start picking the right side and tailoring our play we will do fine and be lifting ourselves up the table.
Come on you saints.
Saint Phil.
