One player I pray we take a look at is Yaya Sanogo. 20 years old and he's scored 8 in 8 in the French league two. Similar player to Lambert with a bit more pace. I do think we need another forward player, as I can realistically see Ramirez leaving in the Summer. Let's be honest, he's failed to settle and doesn't exactly seem to happy.

Dont look abroad, been saying it for few years now, but we should sign jordan rhodes

Are you Yaya Sanogo

French ligue 2 though. Might be worth a look but would like players we can play immediately. Think a 20 year old from ligue 2 might need a season or so on loan or with reserves. In which case why not bring through our own youth?

Also more likely we will look to Italy/Spain where our exec/manager have close links, and where there is particular financial trouble for clubs.

We don't need another striker mayuka will come good given the time he needs rb cover CDM cover and and a good CAM is all I think we need

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, Rhodes is a good player don't know why everyone is so obsessed with foreign players

Agree0 Disagree0

Because foreign players are cheaper and generally have more class.

I really hope Gaston stays for at least another season, at times I he plays exceptionally and his gift for cutting passes is Fabregas-esque. The Premiership was obviously going to be a massive change for him and he needs time to adapt. If he goes in the summer you have to think what was the point of signing him in the first place.

A couple of new names that I have heard lately, being linked with saints are :
Erik Lamela - roma attacking midfielder, 1 cap for argentina and, dutch striker Luc Castaignos

maybe they are potential replacements for lee and gukly {Ed004's Note - Ed 2 has said the likes of City and Utd have pulled out of going for Lamela due to fees and complex ownership issues. I'm not sure he is a likely Southampton target unfortunately as I'd love to see him in the premiership}

Labels is a fantastic player and we have no chance of getting him, please take into account we won't sign bigger names until we start pushing into European football.

An example is Newcastle

We won't sign big names until we start pushing into European football?

Ramirez was a big name and that was when we were a newly promoted club?

Lamela would be a quality signing, but can't see us getting involved with complex fees. Any player with ambition who wants a move to the prem would be interested in the project at southampton. Not saying we could sign anyone, but I wouldn't immediately rule out big names. We have loads of finances available to bring them in, and we have a young team, pushing forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree but Ramirez was a player with potential he could been fantastic or he could be a flop, proven European quality players like lamela (auto correct keeps changing what I put for the record lol) are players beyond are reach I just mean we should be realistic here the higher we progress eg European football the better quality we will be able to attract not every player will say "oh il join them as they might be in Europe within 2 years" realistically they will want guaranteed higher quality football.

Not being negative just realistic

pleased to see Mayuka come off bench v Swansea. he looked pretty promising, having a shot saved off the line by Vorm and would love to see him play more. Hope he stays in summer

We all like to dream. But some of the figures being mentioned on here are just bloody stupid. Yes we have money behind the club but what you all seem to be forgetting is the financial fair play rules that are being introduced. Yes we will strengthen the squad but by no means will we be spending out the amounts some people seem to think.

You do realise that most of the figures that have been posted on here have been under the amount the club will gain thanks to the new Premier league tv contract. Realistically Southampton could probably afford more than was spent this year without making any serious loss at all.
