Agree totally with paddy. great performance from academy/ u21's unfortunately as I've been saying we want to keep filling the 1st team squad with these " he used to be great" players that are actually poor at best . in the Chase of champions league how much worst off would we be if 2 or 3 of the u21's were in the 1st team squad or team

what do you mean he used to be great? most that come from the under 21's are debutants? Plus the one's in the first team at the moment have all done very well wouldn't you agree? Reed, JWP and Targett have all done well this season and others have impressed on their debuts, we've got to break them in slowly and develop them, as they all have the potential to be big players in our squad, would you really rather that we signed all our players and just ignored our academy prospects?

I agree St Sam. What's the point of having one of the best academies in the world if we don't bring some of the youngsters through to the first team?

A very entertaining match by the U21s was thoroughly impressed, every player seemed to have their moment to say to Koeman, look here's what I can do. That was the first game I can recall seeing Sam Gallagher show some serious pace, he had plenty of moments where he bossed the Blackburn defence.

If Tottenham have found the next Alan Shearer in Harry Kane, then perhaps we have found the next Michael Owen in Ryan Seager. At least that was the player I most thought he resembled at times when he dribbled the ball between defenders, as well as getting himself a real poachers goal. Surely he'll be vying for a spot in the first team match day squad next season.

They mentioned on commentary that Seager has based his game on Michael Owen's. Although he doesn't quite have that insane pace that young Owen (before his hamstrings exploded) had. Seager seems a more rounded player - good touch, technique, awareness of where his teammates are, and that all important instinct to sniff out chances.

I'd like to see Sam Gallagher and Seager get a chance in the first team squad before the season's out. They honestly can't be much worse than Pelle and Long.

I agree qwertyell, Koeman must be thinking the same, he said in an interview after Gallagher returned from injury that he would eventually return to the first team and Seager has been prolofic all season for under 21's and has been involved in the first team a couple of times, must be worth a go! I imagine both would have a "no fear" attitude which breath life into our attacking play, the fact is without our big 8-0 and 4-0 wins, we'd be on 33 goals in 31 games, which is just over a goal a game, which is one of the lowest in the league, our top goal scorer isn't even in double figures for the league!
