Actually that is what I was saying I want reed ward prowse targett isgrove Gallagher etc in the first team and more. I love the academy players and would rather have them in and finish 10th and build than this season. I was saying the transfer policy is one I don't agree with. buying half arsed players on the principle they "once played well " or used to have potential. Elia, djuricic, etc I know they were bought in to add another dimension to the attack but . they are poor at best. So I was actually agreeing st Sam and others

We have bought good players like Mane, we have loaned players like Elia and Djuricic, which at the time was a very sensible decision.

Come the summer, I hope we will have achieved European football and then we can utilise more of the academy players in the first team AND purchase new additions to the squad. The extra number of games will require this.

Remember the club have not abandoned their ambitions of having 50 per cent of homegrown players in the first team squad. The likes of Elia, Djuricic have been brought in for their experience and to essentially plug the gap until our academy players are ready to make the step up. This summer should see an influx of these talents coming through, which means we can aim for more prolific signings which are going to improve the starting eleven rather than the bench.

Apologies rayzer I completely agree with you on Elia and Djuricic, I think if it wasn't for long term injuries Isgrove would've been used instead of Elia. I doubt we'll sign either in the summer, I think a lot of the players who made the debuts this season could all have big roles next season, as a few really looked good in the first team!

Let's now sit down and be logical.

We will be forced to sell our best assets unless we match the wages being offered by top clubs. Agents rule.

If we sell our best players others will up the price of players we are interested in acquiring.

Man Utd and Liverpool can gamble on high cost mistakes ( Falcou Ballotelli for example ) .

If you are going to challenge for the Top you have to be a very rich club indeed. Same applies the world over.

SFC have done wonderfully well this year. If we want to go better next year we have to get a bigger and better squad? We will never be able to afford to do this.

we have proved this year that on our current budget we can challenge at the top of the table, we were in the top 4 at the half way point in the season, the reason for our drop in form is due to our lack of goals, if we had the our goal scoring prowess of last season and our defense of this season I believe we would still be there now, we managed to defy the odds and improve greatly on last years performance, it's not by fluke. We have improved on our position in each league every year since the Lieber family has taken over and I believe next year we will be challenging up there again. Worst case scenario this summer is if Morgan and Clyne leave and we don't get Toby at the end of the season. If we loose Morgan and Clyne they'll be for big fees and we should an extra £50+ to spend on reinforcing the squad. You never know they may even stay, both would only leave for Champions league clubs and it seems like Arsenal have cooled their interest in Morgan, this is huge for us as Manchester United first choice is likely to be Strootman in that position, also Utd were linked to Jaanmat today too, so we may actually be ok! But £50m if they do go is enough to really reinforce the team and give us enough depth to compete in both Europe and the premier league

I agree with you to a great extent. All I would say is look at Atlético Madrid. I'm not saying that we can win the league but with a little luck we could aim to come 4th - look at the points dropped against Swansea, Burnley, Stoke etc,. Jay Rod not coming back in Jan as predicted and Boruc doing one with Fraser now injured - that kind of luck.

If we make Europa L then we can justify a larger squad, and it will be easier to attract layer, and keep players.
If you read what the club have planned they make it clear they will make adjustments required for this, so why do supporters keep questioning whether they will?
