Now I am in this site I have decided to report rumours that are nothing to do with with Saints but are entirely to do with Saints. I live in Cardiff so the news that a main target is Jamie Mackie calms me down that they do not get what players help you to stay up. Jamie is a really nice, honest player but surprised if Cardiff see him as a game changer in the prem.

What utter rubbish! plse Ed include translation for this? {Ed001's Note - I wish I knew what it meant, I was hoping someone would explain it as none of the editors have a clue!}

No, but if it were I'd expect Guly to come on in our last home game solely to get a red card so that we wouldn't qualify!

Guys is it true that Saints are heading into the Europa league because of fairplay?

I seriously hope not - very much a double edged sword and all the home games end up being re-scheduled to Sunday.
No, let us consolidate for a season first. Europa next year could end up dragging us to our knees.

If we do I hope we play our under 18s in Europe.

IMO its unlikely. Top 3 countries top leagues put the team through with the best record (amongst other criteria).
PL are currently 4th. However, teams with better record than us in PL are the clubs already designed for European competiton via Champions League and Europa other than Liverpool who would Brendan Rogers said would turn down the opportunity to play Europa via the Fair Play route.

It depends if the Premier League finishes in the top 3 of UEFA nations fair play league, and currently (although I think the last assessment was in January) the EPL was 4th. However, if it did finish in the top 3 I think Saints would definitely qualify (we haven't had any red cards all season?!)

Arsenal fan here. Just wanted to say that I love what your team is doing and if you keep your team together your going to be a force in the future.

Cheers mate, thanks for the comment, Arsenal yourselves have a reasonable chance to grow now with the new fair play rules.

Good luck on Sunday! Arsenal have always been my favourite team at the top of the table, hope the board actually invests this summer and you can mount a serious title challenge next year.

Ok, I've heard people fixating on this rumour of 15 departures in the summer a bit as of late so I think it's worth putting in a comment. Southampton have got a very large squad so they could relatively easily shift 15 players without shifting any first team and many first squad options. Also if we sell 15 players that would free up a lot of space in the squad surely for signings that would significantly improve the team. If we sell even 10 we can expect a revenue of around 8 million with the money that will be contributed from the league we could potentially see a budget over 40 million to spend. I think it's more likely to be in the region of 30 million due to the fair play rules though. That is plenty enough though to get 5 more top class players at least to really add to the squad to bring us forward. Think we will see serious improvements on an already very good squad this summer.
The future is bright, the future is red and white, as they say.

I wouldn't worry too much about the financial fair play rules, in the last 6 months Southampton has actually made a profit, and the wage bill as a % of turnover is 59%, the same as Arsenal's (as an example of financial constraint, Aston Villa's is almost 90%).
My point is that Cortese is free to spend away as he sees fit, although I think 20-30 million is a realistic estimate for 2/3 big names and maybe some squad players.

Surly we tried to get rid of 15 players last season. The problem is that we have some good leauge 1 and championship players now getting premiership wages. They won't leave because they want the money. Clubs that are interested in them can no longer afford their wages. No good for the players or the clubs
