I'm going to have a it of a rant.

I became, along with family members a season ticket holder 2 years ago.
We did this because we enjoyed the football and the way the club were headed, with great players and great expectations.
We also wanted to follow our beloved heroes across the nation to other great clubs and stadia.

Well, I have a few realisations that I would like to share.

To get a ticket for an away game was nighh on impossible due to the policy of the club. We managed to get tickets for 2 away games that we could make. This was due to large ticket allocation for us and lack of so called loyal away supporters wishing to go to far flung corners of England mid winter or at the end of a season when there was nothing to play for.

We are just as disappointed with the policy this year as we would have liked to go to Arnhem FCM and Watford but we're not priority supporters.

Then there is the club. We appreciate that players want to move on to bigger and better things now and then, but, how is it that our club cannot get any player of quality to sign long term contracts and keep them with us to see out these contracts? For example why did Wanyama only get a 3 year deal when we paid 12mil for his services ( bloody stupid by Les Reed ) the press says that he now wants to go and we now cannot stop him! As have nameless players within 12 months

The team that we bought season tickets to watch has all but disappeared.

We have all decided two games into the season that we will not renew next year but will pick and choose our games purely because we do not believe the clubs hierarchy can see what most fans on the terraces can see.

This year is the year that we would want to stay in the prem because of the influx of pound notes next season. Unless the hierarchy understand this and look after the fans and get to grips with the players leaving then I'm afraid I can only see a big demise.

Come on Saints we still love you but sort these issues please.

Downhearted,!

See, I have a few problems with this post. The policy of the club is spot on, fans who followed the club through thick and thin, through League one and the championship, who went to Wallsall and Hartlepool away on freezing cold December nights DO deserve perks over so called 'fans' who've just bought season tickets since we started doing well, so they can say they've been to the 'attractive grounds'. You're moaning about not being priority supporters yet then say you've already decided to not renew your season ticket, all because you're crying over players you want to be at the club not being there, well frankly, you don't deserve to be a priority over fans who go whether we're bottom of league one on -10 or top of the premier league. /endofMYrant

We have been to nearly every game for the last 5 years including away games whilst in league one when we could go. The reason we didn't buy a season ticket before was because we never had a problem getting a ticket.
Problems getting a ticket became apparent whilst doing well in the championship hence the reason for buying season tickets not because we were part time supporters.
Tickets for away games should be on a first come first served basis and not for ( loyal ) fans to buy and then sell on just to get the loyalty bonus.

The Premier League is all about making money for all concerned with the club.
When we were sitting in Division One, membership was free and my brother and myself came to games via Hospitality at around £40 pp.
We got centre seats and excellent food and service.
We were not able to buy season tickets due to work commitments.
Now, there's a cost implication for membership, the same hospitality costs around 5 times as much, and if you end up in a wings section, you HAVE to stand because the club can't implement H & S very well.
The 10,000 or so supporters who turned up in those lowly days, forgotten once the PL returned.
This is called business, we can all moan but its a time waster to be honest.

The only way for us as fans to help our club to become a big club is for us fans to continue to buy tickets to every game and sell out to push the club to expand the stadium to gain a bigger capacity and in turn generate high income allowing us to pay players bigger wages to players in turn attracting higher caliber players to the club and also helping us to keep the quality players at the club. I can provide any doubters proof of this look at Liverpool and Spurs both are building new bigger stadiums to try and help them bridge the gap to the top 4 and help make them more competitive against them. Yes we sell players for big money enabling us to sign replacements but we can't afford the wages for players of the same caliber so we buy players we can develop to become that standard of player. Fans turning there back and not renewing ST is not going to help resolve the issue of the team you paid to watch disappearing.

Yep Romsaint. Exactly like Morgan was on when he tried to force a move last year.

@1x1 if that's the case they'll be on your customer number and you should be entitled to buy tickets earlier

I work more Saturday's than I don't, so I've not owned a season ticket for about 10 years but I've still gone to 25 (probably nearer 35 in league 1/championship) games a season. Those tickets are on my customer number and I'm given the opportunity to buy tickets first, bring up the situation with the club and it should get sorted

My point about the season ticket issue arises from the fact that the club advertise that if you buy one you can get priority to buy tickets to away games. Well that is complete BS . Because the clubs priority is to sell to people who have been to 12 or 11 or whatever the season before . Basically I've got no friggin chance of getting to the 12 or 11 or whatever this season cause I didn't the year before.

DO YOU NOW SEE MY POINT COMPLETELY FRIGGING INSANE.

In past years it was first come first served which allowed all season ticket holders the chance to follow the boys away.

Now it is just the select few same people who all think that because of this policy that they are more loyal and more of a fan than the rest of us.

What utter bollocks

Can't understand how this club attracts so many confused supporters.

We can't stop Victor going? We can, and we have. Media says he wants to leave. So what, the media spout utter rubbish every day of the week.

If Barca came calling with the right offer, all our players would want to leave! Whether they would be allowed to is another matter, so stop picking at every little unsubstantiated titbit and have some faith.

I have been banging the Charlie Austin drum now for what seems like months, my friends are fed up with it. Every time I suggest on here i'm shot down in smoke. I wonder if any one have changed their minds now?? I just think he would give Pelle the push he needs, at the moment he does not have any competition for the striker role, he could even play behind Pelle??

Pelle needs service not competition. The only time he gets the ball is when its hoofed up to him on his chest. jRod will be firing on all cylinders soon as well.

Ben, I think that you're right that Austin would be a good addition. At times last season Pelle looked awful, and we just didn't have other options.

It may well be that Saints change their minds that they need more options up front based on the last few games, but I doubt that they will. let's be honest, we've struggled to create enough chances, and it doesn't matter who you have up front, if you don't give them the service that they need.

The biggest problem at the moment is that the team lack organisation and balance. We miss Morgan badly. We've lost that deadly pace down both flanks, and we're a lot less frightening to play against.

It isn't all bad news. We've brought in some good players, and J-Rod coming back is great. I guess as fans we need to remember that the side we have put out so far this season is far from the side that Koeman envisaged playing. Players will be back soon. performances will improve.

Bertrand will add a little balance, and make us better both defensively as well as going forward. Caulker looked good against Watford, and will strengthen the back four. Romeu and Victor will get better as a partnership in the middle of the park, and add in Classie, and we should have the quality in midfield that we've been lacking recently. That in turn should give our attacking players more freedom to get at our opponents.

It's far too early for us to be getting so negative. Looking on the bright side, things can only get better.

Keep calm,
Support the Saints

Really fed up with people with rose tinted glasses, how do you know jay rod will come back as he was?? Although pele doesn't get loads of chances his conversion rate is poor, as mentioned he has no competition, the so called black box must have malfunctioned or else we wouldve had a quality cb in place last month, we sell well and to easily but buy poorly while trying to be clever and get a hidden gem on the cheap, the exodus has finally caught up with us and it desperatly shows we are weak, slow, predictable and lucky to have 2pts, I think Roko has had his hands tied and I feel with a heavy heart we could be in trouble, something with me seems not to sit right behind the scenes

Really fed up with negativity from sofa mangers who think they know best. Supporting saints has alway been an up and down affair. Just because we escaped liquidation with a billionaire owner does not give us the right to think we are not a mid table team. We don't have the stadium capacity or commercial stature to be consinstatly fighting for top 6. That may or may not come in time. In the mean time I personally will enjoy the magic roundabout of the premier league! Win at old Trafford but lose at turf more. That's football at its best .Get on the bus and enjoy the ride

If we sign a quality CD a quality midfielder plus an attacker this week { I would go for Austin } then get rid of Big Vic for £20 million to whoever is willing to pay.

We must accept that we cannot be a top 5 club so let's set our weights at being 6-12th in the League.

Use the League cup for player development, use the FA Cup as one we want to win. Europa Cup may be resolved after Thursday.

From a business point of view we must remain in the PL for next year when even bigger bucks are available.

I have every trust in Les Reid. We also have one of the best managers in the PL, who we want to keep long term. So by 1st Sept all should be looking much better.

Finally I agree who heartfelt with ROKO. The transfer window should close BEFORE the PL seasons start. Clubs like Chelsea, Man U and Spuds deliberately try to upset the better players from the not so rich PL clubs, just to sit on the bench. This has to stop.

Good evening all,
The club came out a little while ago and said we are a development club, players come we show then off, players go. Huge profits. Backstage meanwhile the club is putting huge emphasis on growth, national and international. Not aday goes by without new sponsors or partnerships being signed and our academy adds to that growth. But right now we are in a dangerous cusp where our only true source of income is tv and player sales. The club will do everything it can to keep saints as high in the premiership as possible for money and appeal but we are a relatively small club, smallish stadium and fairly small fan base internationally. Unfortunately until that changes players sales are helping this club tick along for now.Careless spending will only lead us into financial difficulty. I watch on with worry but trust

I know it sounds pessimistic but I have just been looking up a few stats . I know we finished 7th last season and overall it was a great achievement but something is slightly worrying . This season we have started at best very slowly and of course we have to get the side gelling together and get back our best players but there is something most of us haven't really taken in to consideration and that is our form in the latter stages of last season. Out of 51 points available in our last 17 games we have taken 16 points and that equates to a season total of between 35 - 40 points which would probably be less than needed to survive in the PL . Our early season form and the run after Christmas got us to where we were at the close of last season but our very inconsistent performances don't fill me with confidence for this campaign . Too many players are not performing to their expected levels and honestly I believe we are looking a bit nervous and lacking the passion and belief that we had in many games last season . Going to be a rocky ride this season unless things change quickly .

I agree chrisdownj. Too many people with rose tinted glasses out there.
We need to start investing more cash in top quality signings. And if needed get rid of the dead wood we have instead of just selling the Crown Jewels.
I appreciate contracts run down so let try and get longer term contracts signed by our key players earlier instead of last minute.

Exactly the same happened season before last.

It's called having a small squad of 1st team players. Injuries, suspensions and mental fatigue take their toll as the season progresses.

So, this season we are expanding the squad numbers with funding helped by the two major players sold and obviously this also covers the strains of the Europa Cup.

Not really surprised that we have started slowly, but win the next two games and see player(s) added and players back fit and suddenly things will look a lot different. Shame really, because then what will people have to criticise?

I like your optimism and really hope you are right.
Unfortunately though we seem to have lost ambition at board level and the shout to push for a champions league spot is a distant memory now.
Next summer we will talking about jrod, mane, wanyama and who knows who else leaving.
I hope I'm wrong

Agree7 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 19:05:29
Were you wrong if you made such comments last summer? YES.

People seem very keen to analyse every management/board move. Well, statistically we should sell MORE players before the end of this window as we are way short of last years sales which then saw us achieve our best finish in the Premiership and qualification for Europe. Statistics would indicate we should still need to sell around half the first team if we are aiming at CL!

Maybe we will be talking about players leaving next summer. Maybe we will also be talking about a top 6 finish, success in the Europa Cup and a need to improve the squad to go to the next step. Don't think it would matter so much then, would it?

Agree2 Disagree6

25 Aug 2015 10:52:46
Got a feeling rather than a top 6 finish at the end of the season we will be trying not finish in the bottom six . The team and squad are not top 6 quality . Selling too many top players and replacing them with players that haven't played in the EPL is risky at best .
