Southampton will not be doing anything in January!
so I for one will do the same as the club and save my hard earned cash till next season! as i'm not prepared to spend my hard earned cash taking my kids to st Mary's only to watch us lose points due to lack of vision or players!and with the club not willing to even try and at least loan in some cover? and make it look like they are at least ready to give it a go! and not just endding the season as a none event! Just being Happy with not going down? Can't see the point to that! Give us something to cheer about instead of all the doom and gloom of this month! Yeovil game will be the litmus text of were the season is going?
Saints have no plans to delve into the transfer market to buy cover for injured duo Dejan Lovren and Gastn Ramrez, according to assistant boss Jess Prez.
Mauricio Pochettino's right-hand man confirmed yesterday that both players would be missing for six to eight weeks with ankle ligament damage.
Prez said the news has not changed the view from within the club that they do not need to make any signings this month.

It's a good job not everyone has your attitude. Or gate money would be down and they would not be able to do anything in the summer either.
There is clearly more going on then we know.
Could be a takeover or them just keeping things quite till all paper work is done.

You are not going to go watch your team because of lack of vision? get a grip man. comfortable mid table playing good football, nows the time you should be there. supporting the team in times of trouble, up the saints!
Agree0

Maybe no transfers are taking place in January because we've already agreed deals for better players during the summer and the club don't want to jeopardise them by signing someone now?
in all honestly our youth team would get a good result vs Yeovil. I'd imagine we'll line up like this tomorrow -
Davis/Gazza
Clyne
Yoshida
Hooiveld
Fox
JWP
Reed
Rowe/Isgrove
Guly
McQueen/Sinclair
Gallagher
That will be more than enough to send us through
we're in no danger of being relegated, the Arsenal match is the only game coming in the time period where Lovren and Ramirez are out, we should be fine without them. We have a chance of getting into Europe through the league, but we'll only get there if everyone gets behind the team and if you're going to pout and whine and not go to matches just because the club hasn't spent money then you're not needed in St Mary's, so please, stay at home whether we spend money or not.

Pretty sure we played more than just Arsenal in the next 6-8 weeks

Agree just as we did against Sunderland

Clearly you have no idea how good these players are. Yeovil are not sunderland. that team will be more than enough to get through

If we were to let Osvaldo go on loan, what does everyone think about Gallacher? Is he good enough to play on a more regular basis yet? Seen him for the few minutes that he's played, but can't judge from that personally. Can we 'blood' him for the rest of the season, or do we need to bring in a new striker so that he can go back to U21s?

Gallagher is good, similar to Lambert but with more pace. He's ready to play first team football but not as much as he would get if he was in place of Osvaldo

A lot of he's been rubbish, being chucked at Osvaldo, he's got 3 goals this season, he's still adapting and has started a few games on the bench, where against Villa he came on and scored! Just because he hasn't banged in 15 goals already doesn't mean he won't come good, he's had injuries, suspension (who wouldn't want to try to stick one on Pardew?) and the stress of moving to the UK and starting a family. It will all come good, as it will with Ramirez!

Osvaldo will be leaving because he was not well liked amongst the squad before the Fonte events and now even more so Poch wants to keep the dressing room together and the good atmosphere at the club to remain so will sell or loan out to ensure there is no tension in the camp
Agree0
Disagree0
^This, i've lost count of the amount of times i've said this to delusional 'fans' who slag him off for not scoring whilst he was doing just as well, if not better than Lambert before xmas and then try claim Osvaldo to be over-priced at 12mil and Lambert to be worth 10.
There is a hell of a lot more behind the Fonte/Osvaldo thing than anyone thinks. Fonte had been niggling at him a lot during training and made a comment along the lines of it being lucky Osvaldo had his suspension as it kept his pregnant girlfriend from sleeping around. let's not be so quick to put all the blame on Dani because their isn't one man who wouldn't stand up and defend their wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/whatever if that was said about them.
Agree0
Disagree0
There is not tension, the daily echo says osvaldo isn't like and automatically it's gospel, he's quite a popular figure actually and the dressing room understand what's happened and it isn't going to affect anything beyond Osvaldo's suspension and Fonte's likely suspension
Agree0
Disagree0
^ Even if Fonte has said something along those lines it dosen't change the fact he has the backing of the rest of the squad over Dani.
I am not one of these "Plastic" fans who slates Osvaldo's performances at all I would say he has out performed Lambert when he has played but after this scrap with Fonte he will be sold or loaned out before the window closes as the manager wants to keep the good atmosphere at the club going.
Agree0
Disagree0
Nobody is siding with anyone, every player knows both Fonte and Osvaldo were in the wrong. They'll both get a slap on the wrist and everything will go back to normal, nobody will be sold or loaned
Agree0
Disagree0
Everyone should be kinder to Osvaldo, I really like him and think everyone should calm down and look at the positives he's brought:) stay Cheery saints' fans
Agree0

How do you know all this information? sounds like chinese whispers to me. Apart from Fonte niggling and maybe a fairly bad tackle in training and that was probably it, Osvaldos a nutter its happened before and it will probably happen again. I knew this was bad news signing him which is why I didn't want us to sign him in the first place, I Thought it was going to harm the team spirit having a guy like him in the squad and I have been proved right
Agree0
Disagree0
Well, big of you not to say I told you so
Agree0

I know this as I know people who work at staplewood. Fonte is in pretty deep sh1t with the club too, it's not all Osvaldo's fault, they're both in the wrong. There's nothing wrong with the team spirit, nobody has taken sides and Fonte and Osvaldo have already put it behind them

If osvaldo goes I think Javier Hernandez would be a great signing. he's very quick. And scores whenever he comes on! I say remove the rotten apple and buy a fresh one!

personally don't want hernandez, don't really rate him, think we can do better with the cash we spend on him, yes he gets goals but mostly from within the 5 yard box, would rather someone young and english like Danny Ings, who's young, English, a Saints fan so would play his heart off for us, would be a great signing

Inter have pulled out of a swap deal with Juventus for guarin in the last 24 hours causing fury in Italy.
This is perfectly in time with Osvaldo's headbutt of fonte.
Both of the above are true. Therefore, does that mean that there was a potential swap deal for osvaldo and guarin which is now back on the cards?
Thought I'd share as I can't see it listed anywhere else at the moment. Interesting coincidence if nothing more!

Apparently, according to an eye witness, the incident, which took place on Wednesday, happened during an intense 11-a-side training match between members of the first-team squad.
Osvaldo and Fonte had been niggling at each other during the practice match, and the situation came to a head when the former took umbrage at a particularly robust challenge.
Osvaldo immediately confronted Fonte in an aggressive manner, sparking a nose-to-nose argument between the two.
But before players could separate the two, Osvaldo left his team-mates 'shocked and furious' by aiming a head butt straight into Fonte's face.
The impact immediately drew blood from Fonte's face; the pair grappled before team-mates launched themselves into the brawl to separate them.
Fonte is understood to have sustained a black eye and a broken nose, but those injuries are yet to be confirmed.
Pochettino immediately suspended the training session to deal with the aftermath of the unsavoury clash, which has seen Osvaldo suspended for two weeks by Southampton.
The incident has seen Osvaldo's already low popularity among the the Saints squad plummet to rock-bottom.

Personally, I don’t think Saints will be in the market for anyone.
There’s so much uncertainty as to what will happen in the summer re owners & manager staying or going, I really do feel all plans will be on hold till then.
For now, we’ll go with what we’ve got which for me is still strong enough for a top ten finish. We’ll use some of the younger guys to cover the gaps here and there like we have been doing for much of the season.
I can’t see Katarina putting in any more money at this stage which is a real shame because with a little more investment in the right areas I. E. Centre back, Striker, Winger, we could potentially be pushing a top 8 finish.
I just hope things happen swiftly off the field as it’s this uncertainty that will hamper any future progress.

Don't think Osvaldo is a dead horse yet, we don't know fully what went on / what's happened before. The guy's probably frustrated he's not playing, was out ill, which his ban could have lasted for but we accepted the charges late, so he still had 1-2 games left when he was fit again.
Maybe Fonte caught him when he tackled him in training or something, doesn't excuse what he's done but makes it more understandable, guy has a newborn baby at home too, maybe he was kept up all night with that and whatever Fonte did made him snap.
After his goal against City he was looking hungry for goals, for the rest of that game, and the Newcastle game until he came off injured, so don't give up yet!

Put yourself in KL position for a moment, with lots of people saying spend more money.
My reply would be well what did you do with the last lot?
Hmmm not a very impressive record, I would have to be convinced that the right changes were in place before before any new money would be introduced and that the most had been made of the last lot I gave them.

His wifes pregnant but hasn't given birth yet, not an excuse anyway as if he has to be up i'm sure his wife would deal with it

Re the comment "Don't think Osvaldo is a dead horse yet" it's not just his behaviour he's bloody rubbish. Apart from one good goal I haven't seem him do anything. If he was as good as Cantona or Suarez fine do everything possible to kiss and make up with the other members of the squad, but he isn't anywhere near that level. Get rid ASAP and stop buying prats MoPo

Actually as you mentioned Suarez, hasn't he turned it around? ( the attitude I mean), although no 1 player is bigger than the squad.
Come on Dani sort it out son.
