Great to for Les Reed to come out and say that there has been no bid for any of our players, shows you can't believe all that paper talk!

Your so right, its common knowledge shaw has been watched by Chelsea time and time again. Great news if they can keep the bulk of the team together.

^ not sure if that link will show up, if not type 'Saints director Reed address media speculation' into youtube or search the saints twitter. Might stop St Nicholas crying into his pint tonight!

{Ed001's Note - glad to help. We are going to have a look at fixing the filters when we get a chance. They can make it difficult for both sides of the editing divide (so to speak) to figure out what posts mean or what people are trying to link to. No one was sending in links when it was set up. Well no one other than Sky Bet - who kept spamming our sites with them - and so we tried to filter them out to stop spam.}

So just a thought on a player I think we should go all out to sign this summer is Rodrigo Moreno Machado. won't come cheap but is class and worth the money in my mind

If we had a Suarez we would be in the top 4 easily this season, but unfortunately we don't.

This to me tells me more than anything else that we need a world class striker.

Yes we need a center back and a goalkeeper but look at how many goals Liverpool have conceded this season, which is only 1 less than us.

They play a very similar style and the same formation yet they put away chances.

Even if we only signed a world class striker in the window and no one left I would be happy with that.

Thoughts?

A top-class finisher with pace and vision is definitely a major missing element in the team. Unfortunately, world-class strikers are hard to come by.

Liverpools weakness is in their defense and it's why they haven't already won the title, plus realistically we're not going to sign someone as good as Suarez, I think a GK and CB are more of a priority than a striker, but I think one of each would be good!

Les Reed has actually put out a positive statement regarding Pochettino and players - makes a change - know its just 'talk' & 'contracts aren't worth the paper they are printed on' and all that, but surely this should be taken at face value and might even cheer up St Nicholas (a bit)?

Theres a rather good piece in the Guardian by Dominic Fifield, kind of snuck under the radar a bit. Provides some nice insight into the 'southampton way'. Worth a read and is quite a bit more welcome then all the recent doom and gloom. Also there is another piece from Poch's recent interview in regards to his perspective on the Shaw Saga. It's so nice when articles are sourced and use credible quotes. Nice change there.

TJ - this reads better on paper. This is taken straight from last weeks Presser. He was asked a daft question about Luke 'favouriting' tweets and 'following' Phil Neville and he fudged the answer saying the standard line of, "he's a Saints player. " etc etc. As I said, it reads better on paper than it sounded at the Presser. It's all true though!
