On the fegholiu (can't spell his name) he plays for Valencia and is quick and he is pretty good, he plays rm for them. Just thought I'd clear that up

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its Sofiane Feghouli actually and to be realistic he won't be signing for Southampton, maybe he will when he's around 33 yrs old and passed it.

Southampton FC are looking at a number of transfer targets. Everyone is saying that Cortese has given Pochettino a 30 million transfer budget, this obviously isn't true because that's what we spent last year. Cortese wouldn'y have had to fought hard to get this budget from the club. The budget is more around the 50 million mark.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Budget is likely to be the profit we made last season (including tv revenue payments from the league and such) Plus an investment of some sort which was probably what Cortese fought to get higher. Could mean the budget being realistically anything from £25million to even £60 million (Those being the two extreme's it'd probably be in between).

Agree0 Disagree0

I've heard directly that the budget is somewhere between £1 and £1billion. Those being the extremes it's something between those 2 values!

is it me, are saints being linked with too many foreign players? bang goes any future success for our young english players trying to get into the team.

bring in a british manager who knows the english game

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's because no 1 on here has got a clue really, just making up names they would like at sfc I don't believe any of these rumours till they happen

Agree0 Disagree0

We have good young English players in the team and coming through the youth system as well. I think really we just need to focus on brining in talent this season. Regardless of nationality because we already have a strong English core.

Agree0 Disagree0

No doubt most players are on a beach somewhere relaxing, but apparently were going to sign all these players total crap bet we don't sign any in the next 2 weeks

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather pay extra for young english players to be honest as we are an english club and we would be contributing to our national team

Agree0 Disagree0

Because our players are getting picked for england? Lambert? Rodrigez? Lallana?

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think the club will ever become alienated from its youth set-up, I think that's been Cortese's goal from day one hence the amount of money spent on improving the facilities at Staplewood. The reason we hear rumours of players from abroad is mainly because they are cheaper options particularly when we are only after added depth in some areas. It's a lot cheaper bringing in some one from the likes of La Liga or Serie A who is already tried and tested in a top league than bringing in a young talent from another British club. How many times have we been linked with Gary Hooper? And what is the price tag. somewhere between 10-15 mil by the looks of it. But we could spend that same amount in Europe and bring in a talented striker or winger, maybe both who will help to develop the club whilst the next crop of youngsters come through the academy. Given how many players we were linked to last summer I guess we should all be skeptical to some extent but at the end of the day there is always the possibility of a major unexpected signing! That's why the transfer window is so exciting!

Agree0 Disagree0

The only problem is that there isn't enough young english talent to buy so we produce our own. We then have to buy in players (most likely foreign) to compliment the young english players talent. Also, I think we seriously need to bulk out the squad with more players if we EVENTUALLY go in the europe.

Good post from the bloke above who mentions Staplewood. I wish more people would add 'names' especially now the agree/disagree buttons have disappeared.

Hi Ed, this is just a general question: Out of all the club rumour pages you oversee, which set of fans talk the most nonsense? Or are we all as bad as one another? {Ed001's Note - all as bad as one another, though sometimes a set of fans will get carried away for a couple of seasons, they usually get brought back to earth eventually though.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thats us recently then. {Ed001's Note - you are not the only South Coast team that could be suggested about to be fair.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Although ED, we have risen considerably and set to fight for places much higher up the EPL. Also the media links us to every man and his dog.

Southampton are looking to strengthen in these areas

Fullback (This isn't to strengthen only back up)
CB
Pacy Winger
Creative Midfielder
Up Front Hitman

Next Seasons going to be Great COYR

Cricketer Saint

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd go with-

Cover for RB. Cork does admirably when covering, but does tend to drift in to a defensive midfield spot, leaving us a bit exposed.

CB- Probably 2.

Creative midfielder- Definitely. Davis works very very hard, but I'm not sure he's technically proficient enough to play the quick passing style of play we are aiming for.

I'm not sure we need another striker. I think RL will probably be even better next season as he will have had a season to adjust. Jay Rod also looks perfectly capable to step in if Rickie starts getting a bit leggy.

Great season to come!

Is there anyone left in spain italy or the prem! that you lot aren't signing lol will be interesting to see who you do actually sign, should be a good laugh.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well you know what the papers and various other people are like. I'm fairly sure we apparently now own La liga and Serie A so should have an exciting squad next season :L

Agree0 Disagree0

And your a fan of who? I think we are allowed to get carried away mate we are the 5th richest club in europe so although we are not a big club atm ww have still managed to sign some great players frkm under big teams noses, Clyne or Ramirez. So i'm not going to put it past our club to sign some big name player at some point, we have always produced the beat young talent england has seen for along time, and believe me yes some of our fans get carried away and probably over the top about what we can achieve over the next year or two but I promise every big club out there that Southampton Fc are no longer a small club and we never were, its just you big clubs got carried away, while we were gone :)

LudacrusS

Agree0 Disagree0

We are the 5th richest in England, not europe

Agree0 Disagree0

Your owner is the rich one, not the club. Great players?, clyne and ramirez, lol, great for you lot but would be bench warmers at the top clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

Hate to say it but poster above is right.

Just because we have rich owners, doesn't mean we're a rich club.

In terms of assets, we're average prem club.

Overall the owners want to make a profit, not just pump money in. So we're only as rich as the money we make back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your not the 5th richest club in Europe. Probably not even the 5th in England. You have a rich owner. That's all. How much your club is worth and how much your owners net worth is, is vastly different.
