Hi
Potchetino has said he wants to talk with southampton and plan a new long term plan
And he has asked for funds for summer
Don't give up hope
I haven't

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol, he's off, has been since cortese left, only waited to see if cortese returned in summer with new buyer, that won't happen so he's off aided by the fact the new board have no idea and will cash in on our prized assets, when poch goes so will lallana and shaw also do u think lovren will hang around, its all been building up to this, lack of news, loss of kit, small time sponsor, sacking of jd/pw, ice hockey coach

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on mate it's not rocket science all the sighns have been there for quite some time now!

Agree0 Disagree0

^ cortese was the one who lost us Adidas, the new board repaired that relationship and we'll have Adidas in 15/16

Veho aren't a small time sponsor, just because you've not heard of them doesn't change the fact they're a great sponsor

Jd/pw were sacked for leaking internal details of the club to the press - a breaxh of their contracts. 'Oh but they've brought so many players through wah wah' - they've been employed by the club since 09, everyone who's come through were already on that path - with how good our academy is you'd expect them to do better than a mid table finish.

No other club comments on rumours in the press, go ahead try to find one that does. The club has told you the facts already - it ain't their fault you have the attention span of a 5 year old and need things reiterated every few seconds

I think reports maybe exagerated, the first report just said talks from BBC sport page, then since them other media sources have jumped on the wagon and claimed "advanced talks" and "announcement in the next 48 hours" to 24 hours. remember a few weeks ago Shaw to Utd was a "done deal" do don't be to resigned to losing Poch yet, everything may not be as it seems as yesterday they we're all going on about how he was going to snub spurs and sign a new deal, maybe it's just wishful thinking but we'll see soon apparantly

If the manager is going then let's get laudrup in as soon as possible. He plays the same way - high line and keeping the ball, as well as his overseas knowledge - michu, bony ect, and a lot better buy's than our managers last two purchases!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Couldn't agree more! Of all the realistic managers available he is the one for me should poch go. He can handle the hierarchy, players, big name, attract players and a year ago talk of real and Chelsea being interested.

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree with this it has to be Laudrup but the trouble is Reed seems to like McClaren, but hey guess what Les you are seen to be the weak link at Southampton and you should go, nobody likes you. I won't forget his statement in a hurry such empty words, both Shaw and lallana are leaving by all accounts, and I blame Reed and Krueger for failing to persuade Poch to stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, laudrup that goes on holiday on a whim, cancels training when it's raining, would leave us in a heartbeat if another offer came along. No thanks. McLaren would be a very good choice. Why les reed, you're just guessing mate, so back off with the personal attacks. We're all pissed off but right now we don't know who is the baddy, if anyone. Could be the board, could be owner, could be poch going no matter what we done. Plastic clubs win again

Agree0 Disagree0

McLaren please no! what a big step backwards

Yeah poch is a great manager!

But has anyone actually thought that it might be nice to have a manager that wants to be here.

I say let's re evaluate our expectations. We only got promoted 2 seasons ago. The fact is, we are a mid table side with a fantastic structure + foundation to enable us to one day challenge at the top.

I think if we're all being honest, if we were offered this 5 years ago. We would have taken it. I certainly would have.

Poch doesn't want to be here, if he doesn't go to spurs then he'll go somewhere else.

I think, let's get a young exciting manager in that can grow with us and is in this for the long run. You may laugh, but how about eddie howe or even paul clement?.

Maybe Frank de boer?

Or even as a wild card. Gary Neville?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not Howe or Neville please!

Hey people,
I've just seen that 'Pochettino is in advanced talks with Tottenham'. I came here hoping that nobody would have overreacted but that seems to be the case.
Pochettino has said in many interviews that he is contracted to Southampton for another year and has been really happy with the development and play of his team. Tottenham can't offer him anything worth leaving for; money? Star players? Reputation? He has it all already and more, a secure board for one.

Luke Shaw was said to be the replacement of Patrice Evra at Manchester United in recent weeks but now a new manager has been appointed, signing Evra to an extension as his first bit of business and the papers are beginning to quieten on the potential transfer.

Adam Lallana is Southampton's Captain, someone who has stuck by the club for years and is an integral part of the club and dressing room, he and his teammates were called up to the greatest stage in world football as part of the England squad and his performances have made him a likely starter. This season will be of great value to Lallana, the first time he has been given the appreciation he deserves, the year he is getting married and the year he won 4 honours with his club! He won't want to leave after that, this will have been the best year of his life.

Stay cheery Saint's fans, when you think about it in detail it's hard to think that Southampton FC can be torn apart. 😊

any one who is not botherd about poch leaving and the club having no drive and ambition is a joke and should e ashamed to call them self's a saints supporter! And don't give me all that saints threw and threw rubbish! poch is only leaving because the owner doesn't want to progress! we are now officially a joke if we sell our players anyone who goes to the games are mugs katharina and ralph are screwing us over! no new season tickets for me!

If poch does go who do you think they have lined up?i see loudrup is stalling going to Spain so maybe him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would be deeeeeeliighted to have Michael Laudrup as Southampton manager. If Pochettino does leave for Spurs (apparently, Levy has already given him his locker key! lol) then Laudrup, or someone similar, would be my hope.

Poch would be mad to leave for Spurs, on the basis Levy fires the manager for "only" finishing 4th, 5th or 6th.

But, as there are at least 20 managers worth mentioning or being tipped as our next manager/coach, I won't get too carried away for now.

It is possible we already have a replacement lined up, of course. Like Cortese did when Adkins was booted.

Poch, stay, and finish off the project. Until the Premier League title's won, it ain't over, man!

Take it easy everybody,
Saint Etienne.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Laudrup used to cancel training when it rained you know. There were a lot of problems at Swansea prior to him getting binned by them.}

Gus Poyet for me!
Out thought Mopo twice last season with a lot weaker squad!
Done wonders with Sunderland
Even with some of are top players going this manager could build a great squad! And if he dose come bet he beats spurs home and away next season!

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone average and cheap who'll paint on a smile as all his best players are sold from beneath him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the insight ed, good to have you back. I was keen until you informed us of that. However I am not personally keen on Lennon.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's a different Ed, it is Ed002 who has given up commenting.}

Poyet in no way outsmarted Pochettino! Playing 8 players defensively for the entire match and then hoofing it up to two strikers is his only tactic and it completely ruins game!
Pochettino has been praised so highly because he plays attractive, short passing football, bring up the youth. Poyet would be the worst possible manager we could bring in.

Again big deal poch leaves!
And most of are big name players! Did you don't think for one minute that this was not going to happen at some point in are future! The truth of the matter is we can not compete with the bigger clubs! Plan and simple. We have a billionaire owner yes! but since the new fare play rules have come in to action to protect the mainstream so called big clubs! It all falls down to bums on seats and world wide appeal we just don't have the same kind of following as these clubs and can't match them for wages transfers and so on!
It stinks but
That's life!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mopo hasn't sold out. He's under contract for another year, spurs can't approach him without the clubs permission, therefore it's the club who have sold out, yet again. Hopefully no one will go player wise and we'll bring in a decent replacement coach and strengthen, better still KL sells up and we get new owners who share her fathers dream (RIP st Marcus)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 May 2014 17:42:43
It's looking more and more likely that poch is off to spurs. We have given spurs permission to approach him. Worrying as surely we would only allow this if the man wanted to talk. What worries me most about this is that poch himself said he would stay if he was given assurances we wouldn't sell our players and that he was given money to spend in order to build on last seasons finish. Therefore if he goes then it looks like players will leave too. I expect he would probably have accepted shaw leaving but I think now it looks like he has been told he will lose more than him. It's going to be a worrying summer unless we get a big named manager in who can attract players and incentivise others to stay. But the managers being talked about just aren't. Could we maybe look at Mancini?! Or is that punching above our weight? Thoughts ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Mancini has a job, would want higher wages than Southampton would pay and can't manage people without falling out with them repeatedly. You really wouldn't want him at the club, it would disrupt it far too much.}

I agree Ed wouldn't want Mancini, the press changes their mind very quickly so we may see something completely different tomorrow! Is probably wishfull thinking but still

Agree0 Disagree0

Benitez would be exciting but never going to happen any more than Mancini. I wanted laudraup until I saw eds comment

Ok seems MP is indeed on his way. Anyone else not care? Why do we think there's no other decent managers out there?
Laudrup, Moyes, Yakin. the list goes on.
I think our next appointment will tell us everything we need to know about our football club and where its going - Malky Hughton Howe Sherwood - any cheap appointment like any of these and we are only going one way.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You will start caring when all our best players have left the club. We will be left fighting relegation next season. And we can forget all about fighting for top four Liebherr has sold us out. She is as spineless as they come. Stay away from Southampton madam, same goes for Krueger and Reed.
saints fans should go down to St Marys and demonstrate, let them know how you feel, stop them from even entering the premises they might then wise up.
Best of all they can play to an empty stadium next season I just hate liars.

Agree0 Disagree0

What an personic thing to say! 'Spineless'? How?! What has she done that's spineless? 'Sold us out'?! didn't she just invest £60m in players, making us the third top spenders in that transfer window? 'Stay away from Southampton'! Yeah, that's right, we were doing so well until those damn liebhurr's turned up! You Sir are a fool.

Agree0 Disagree0

MCS, right now, with no definitive, proven news, you literally have no knowledge of what is happening, only media based suppositions and propoganda to go on.

You may well end up being right and if so, no doubt you will jump up and down shouting gleefully "I told you so" but until you can absolutely prove what you have said, please keep your anger to yourself.

My opinion is that I cannot see KL wilfully destroying or downgrading the value of the SFC asset she owns - serves no purpose. We may well eventually lose MP and believe me, I'll be just as hacked off as you if we do, but I'm pretty sure it won't be through the lack of trying to make him stay.

But until it all hits the fan, if it ever does, please do try and show support for the Club, your team, eh?

Agree0 Disagree0

No it's more the reason why he's leaving, which is either that he couldn't get assurances that key players would stay or the club is unwilling to invest properly this summer, I really hope he rejects them but it's even on bbc sport now that have confirmed he's in advanced talks, big shame if he does go

Agree0 Disagree0

^ Oh my god, how can you even say that?! they've been in charge for 6 months and done NOTHING wrong in that time. All you've heard is rumour about the players and MoPo, just cause it's in the paper doesn't mean they're guaranteed to leave, y'know?

who knows maybe they're more ambitious than Cortese was?

Agree0 Disagree0

Will you still feel that way when Liebherr has sold all our players? You can look forward to a team without the following
Shaw
Lallana
Schneiderlin
Lovren
Clyne
Rodriguez
Chambers
They will all leave, why would they stay, we have been sold out wake up Mssaint

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldnt want any of them except Yakin. I would like Uwe Rösler

Agree0 Disagree0

Why didn't you respond to my questions?! Oh yeah, you have no response. I don't see how paper speculation regarding the players you have listed equates to her selling us out? Please explain. Why are you telling me to 'wake up'? Does bickering with you normally cause people to nod off?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would they stay? Because they are under contract and BOTH parties have to agree to the termination of that contract or one will certainly be in breach.

And I'm quite sure the club where that players are going to would want everything nice and clean legally and without encumbrance.

Get a grip till we know more for sure MCS - your going to make yourself ill!

Agree0 Disagree0

Block34 what you don't know is that I have a personally signed letter from the Sports editor of the Daily Mail CONFIRMING that both Shaw and Lallana will be leaving this summer. And if they go the others will too. its not rocket science we have been let down by a couple of mindless yes men and Miss Liebherr, end of.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some of the most depressing reading. ever. Not the fact that Poch may be leaving, but the garbage that is spewed onto this thread today.

Why are we having a go at Liebherr? I know she is not her father and she hasn't spent a fortune on players as you might wish. But we still owe our current owners a huge debt. They saved our club. in league 1. we're now an established premiership team again.
It seems, in some people's opinions, that unless you spend money like PSG then you are not competent owners. If you are a disgruntled Saints fan at this point, then you are spoilt.
Ok the manager and one or two players may leave. This is due to our success. not failure. The manager may change and players will come and go at all clubs.
I wish Poch well and thank him for his hard work. if he is leaving. I will then continue to support the team and the board.
The sad thing is that, I wouldn't mind betting that a lot of the doom mongers who post here were predicting relegation and a st Mary's meltdown when Poch was appointed. now we are doomed due to his departure!

Agree0 Disagree0

MCS - picture/scan (with date of letter of course) or it didn't happen.

Players under contract can only leave if the club they play for agree they can go and agree the compensation (fee) they will get.

From all accounts SFC are playing hardball about the fees being asked for AL and LS - totalling £55M if you believe all you read.

But you still believe the other 5 you mention will all throw hissy fits and leave as well? In that case seems likely we'll end up with nigh on £100M in fees due to us then.

So it'll be time to buy a complete new team then, well half a team. New stadium too! And lower the gate prices! And get a stripey kit back!

There we go, all's well with the world again!

Agree0 Disagree0

Calm down everyone, managers and players come and go, you can`t make them stay if they don't want to be saints players or be the manager bugger off to where the grass is greener and we can get in people that do want to wear the badge, glad you got a letter from the sports editor of whoever. must be true. what a load of old tosh.
Ed must read some of these posts and feel like giving up.
Paul clement or frank de boer will do. please not lennon

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree we owe the family of KL a lot and RIP Markus. BUT KL did not choose to buy the club, as I have mentioned inside news is that NC went because he was not given the assurances he will need. Although I was hopeful MP would stay this is looking unlikely. Shaw and lallana were always and will be sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2014 15:03:37
If poch leaves us big deal? Who cares? managers come and go! As do players.
And there's nothing any of us can do about it! Its not as if your going to start surpporting a new club! So why stress over it!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Because it will have a big impact on next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Because our team is built up around the style of his play. How long before the guys pick up and play well the new managers methods?

Another year?

More?

I stress because we will have 'almost got there' only for one of the 'big boys' to say "can't have you upstart peasants p*ssing on our parade, so we'll buy your skills and stop you dead 'cos we know you need the money. Muaha"

. or something like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Send me your email address block34 and you can have copy of the letter.
its reality i'm afraid. I am gutted, Poch for me is history he is leaving. unless there is a last minute turn around!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - why don't you just scan in a copy and post it in the sightings?}

26 May 2014 10:12:01
Surely they should swop roles, Brendan being Irish would make a better cup of tea, if I were Adam I would make an official complaint, " what do we want, decent tea! when do we want it, at half time"

Bad news I'm afraid. It seems that Poch may be leaving after all. gutted.
Brendan Rodgers and Arsene Wenger have realised that signing all of our players would be terribly complicated and have therefore decided to move to St Mary's themselves. Brendan will be looking after training and Arsene the tea and half time oranges.
Would prefer Poch to stay but at least: Clyne, Lallana, Lovren, Chambers, JRod, Shaw and co will be plying there trade at St Mary's next season.
