I might cop a lot of abuse for this but just an idea kewell, neill, cahill, hargreaves, owen look to be all free transfers or next to nothing with a tonne of premier league experience im sure none of them would let us down and its not like they need to play every game but that experience is priceless.Just a thought what do you guys reckon?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Cahill joined the new york red bulls recently

Agree4 Disagree0

There are two free agents I would take. Craig Gordon as he is a top notch keeper and would like a Premiership club and Michael Owen as he's a top quality finisher but Owen only on a pay as you play and if his wage demands aren't ridiculous.

Agree1 Disagree4

I agree we got good players but lack that pl experience

Agree1 Disagree0

Two players used to the prem and english way of life Huddelstone and Dawson, two players already have an understanding proven quality if what we need.

Agree1 Disagree0

We need good defenders and some pace up front, no of those players are needed

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Craig Gordon at least so we have a second experienced goalkeeper. Might even take some pressure off Davis.

Mini-Saint :)

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Based on your description it sounds like this guy might be a politician.

Bolgna have agreed to sign Flocarri from Lazio for 4.5m Euros. Considering the club have serious financial problems, this tells me that the bank guarantees have been made for the transfer of Ramirez.

Tony

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Or thats some of the money from saints anyway.

NOT A RUMOUR:
I've had a thought (not that it particularly is significant but hear me out). Why don't they try playing Frazer Richardson at left back? He's a good defender and has pace going forward. He's naturally a Right back so he knows the role in effect he just has to play on the opposite side of the field and I think he's a better player than Fox. Also it fits the philosophy that right footed players can play on the left. He's a solid defender and can support on the wing. Why not give him a try?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Don't think there is a great deal of difference in quality between Fox and Richardson. Not worth playing Richardson out of position to be honest, would rather make do with Fox for now and hopefully sign a new LB in the next few days.

JJ

Agree5 Disagree3

Would rather see Shaw have a chance at LB

Gaston Ramirez is expected to fly to England in the next 24 hours to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical before finalising his move.
SaintTom {Ed052's Note -

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Can someone write into the BBC if he signs and get Mr Lawrenson to eat his words? {Ed052's Note - Dont like ''Mr Lawrenson'' I have to say - and thats coming from a Liverpool fan}

Agree0 Disagree1

Bit unfair when he said it won't happen it wasn't in a snobbish way, he knew the facts tbf and most people even us would have agreed, I mean I don't even like the fellow but can't really blame him for thinking it.

Agree0 Disagree6

Long has it been that Lawrenson knocks Saints, hes an awful pundit, I hate watching his grumpy face and i cant imagine why he continues to be employed when all he does moan and moan and gripe and grizzle... he is televised bitterness. r

It is true {Ed052's Note - Seems to be}

It is common knowledge that Gaston Ramirez has openly spoken of his desire to join Southampton and actually already agreed terms. The negotiations with Penarol, his previous club that own 30%, have also been reported as agreed. Hopefully negotiations with Bologna will be concluded imminently. It is understood Inter Milan are monitoring the situation and are ready to make an offer of £11m with £3m in add-ons.

There will be a delay with a work permit but nothing out of the ordinary as he is a capped player of a top National team. Although he doesn't have 75% caps in competitive matches in the last 2 years through injury. Should be no more than 3-5 days to sort out even if the application is rejected and an appeal is made.

Rumours of an agreed co-ownership between Southampton and Penarol are simply false. There may well be agreements with regards to sell-on percentages, but the FA do not allow 3rd party ownerships.

Let's hope this is sorted ASAP. Exciting talent and we certainly need a few new faces before the window closes.

COYR!

Tony

Believable4 Unbelievable0

For the inter milan bid thing surely you mean 11m and 3 in add ons. I see no reason why two Italian sides would deal in Pounds not Euro's.

Equivalent - obviously!

still think saints need a center back, left back a number 2 goal keeper left and right wingers and a decent expreinced center midfeilder anyone agree?

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I agree are midfeild where awful against wigan no one was pressing them when they had the ball so they just walked all over us. But we need a center back the most
SaintsJay

Agree2 Disagree1

That's a lot of signings and that would make me very happy. However this is the bridge for top half, not survival. Personally I think we need a top striker to join Rickie.

The post before about crowd attendance is correct. Im a passionate saints fan and i've been buzzing ever since the coventry victory and if i didn't live on the other side of the world (australia) i would of been cheering my beloved saints on. I agree we do need an injection of pace up front and a quality cb but more important we need a full house come on guys i know it was wigan but 7 years we've waited for this and you can't get to the first home game.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

29,000 people in a 32,000 seat stadium. Wigan failed to sell most of their tickets. That's why it looked empty.

Agree2 Disagree0

I was gonna say, saints tickets were almost a sell out, i could only buy tickets in 14 or 43 and that was on the tuesday before. TV shot we awkward hence why it looked empty. It was angled ant the barrier between saints and wigan fans.

Agree1 Disagree0

Fair enough, but im just saying even if it was at capacity i watched the swansea wet ham game and the noise and atmosphere was a hell of a lot more than at our game and there pretty much the same caliber teams as us and wigan.

Agree0 Disagree1

Well if it upsets you so much, why don't you move to Southampton and show your support?

Signings_TDD on Twitter is reporting that saints are close to completing the deal for Gaston Ramirez.

Hope this is true and we get him, much better than Guly at RW

Sky Sports understands Liverpool are ready to listen to offers for midfielder Joe Cole before the close of the transfer window.

is it a player we should sign, if i was manager , i would go for it. expierence and can score goals, and a good crosser of the ball - chris {Ed052's Note - He is available - but I dont think he will end up at Southampton}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Too injury prone. Too inconsistent. I hate to say it, but I'm sure if he was going to join a bottom half team, he would prefer to go back to West Ham.

Agree2 Disagree1

West Ham have spent themselves sick. I'm just waiting for them to go into admin.

I heard a rumour that Southampton want to stay in the Premier League - then when I saw the attendance on Saturday I knew this must be false.
Where are you Southampton fans?! Its the 12th man that makes the difference at home. Support your team! Why would Ramirez want to play in an empty stadium? This will affect transfer targets.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I know only 29000 in a stadium that holds 32000 and when the away side sold 3000 less than they normally do, shocking

Agree4 Disagree1

I think most of the empty seats were cause Wigan handed back a large amount of their ticket share with little time left.

I feel Guly let down the attacking line against Wigan, I feel for RW he's to slow and sometimes he's just to lazy for that position, I feel it needs to be addressed ASAP as well as a new CB to replace fonte who was up to how old tricks on saturday.

We also need new players to add depth to our squad.

JustASaint

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I thing we're being a bit harsh on some of our players. It's clear to me that NC is playing a system he thinks is right, even though poor JR/GDP is being played OoP because he's awaiting new players to fit. We'll be fine, wait & see....

Agree1 Disagree0

I thought he Played alright but between him and Rodriguez at least one of them needs the pace to take a defender on to get to the byline and cross it, which is the big problem going forward

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't blame the players. I have slagged off Fox something rotten but I don't blame him either. That is because I do believe that they try hard.

The fault is with the board not having new players ready to go. We have come up from League 1 very quickly and we need to act quickly to survive at this level.

Tony

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats why we are bringing in GR.
