Really proud of how saints played tonight also Pocho spoke English in sky interview saying that their will most probably be some in and outs still this transfer window!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Another thing which I caught notice of to any fans that doubt Katherina's commitment to the club, at the end of the match the live broadcast showed she was very pleased with the team's performance, clapping them off the field. For someone who people believe has no interest in football, it sure seems strange as to why she would react that way?

It's good to hear that we should have a bit of excitement over the coming days with transfers, if we did get a striker and a centre back in that would be fantastic business, but likewise one or the other will do to keep the team going for the rest of the season. COYR

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes that's it, pride, and what a great advert for the club for any potential signees!
They should be banging on OUR door!

Mauricio Pochettino has said at the end of the Arsenal match that there will be stuff going on in the transfer window, the interviewer then said in or out, he then said in and out. Could this hint at the Osvaldo swap deal

Hugely impressive performance by the boys tonight. Jack Cork an absolute credit to his profession. Must stay in the starting 11.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He is class, late push for Brazil? Perhaps not as he plays for little old Southampton but he was outstanding today as well as all last season

Agree0 Disagree0

Love jack he is a tidy footballer gets better with every game I feel confidant when he is in the line up against any team we need to sing more jack cork songs!

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit nervous about how yoshida would play but apart from a few misplaced defensive headers he was very good. Loved how we got in their faces, reminded me of city and Liverpool games last year. Agree that jack cork was fantastic. Can't think of a player that had a bad game which is great

Tin Jedvaj from Roma?

Young, full of talent, Croatian, so will be able to communicate with Lovren better than someone who doesn't speak English or Croatian

Shaw is a great defender but I think it would be good for him to start a game on the wing and have Targett or Chambers cover LB position. I think he could really blossom there, take the Bale route :)
Opinions?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Chambers can't play Left back, Targett is a complete unknown, it'd be stupid to do that. Anyway why would you move one of the best left backs in the country right now?

Agree0 Disagree0

Chambers can play left back, and has done so this season, in the second half of a game following (I think it was) Luke Shaw going off with a slight knock.

There has been a lot of supposition regarding what happens when Targett is ready, and whether Luke would push forward, but equally we could bring in Rowe to play ahead of Shaw and push Jay-Rod up front.

Who knows what will happen, but with our academy production line we certainly have a lot of options coming through - Poch recently stated that there were 7 kids ready and waiting to step up to first team duty.

Disappointing to drop a draw today (I mean yeah it was to Arsenal but should've won based on the run of play). I think based on the way we played we were just too wasteful again but the rest of the team fully deserved the win. Good defending (except maybe the first 5 minutes of the second half) and yet more top notch work from the midfield. We've been seeing great quality football from our side this season but that final touch really needs work.

However, having said we were wasteful, Gallagher looks like such a player already. I mean he didn't quite manage to score today but he was regularly in the right place, making the right runs and getting physical. Another top talent in the making?

Man of the match today has to be Lallana for us (well I think so anyway), superb as ever finding the through balls, shame he seemed to get frustrated towards the end of the game but played some superb football and delivered yet more superb balls in. If he is not picked for England this summer Roy has got some serious explaining to do.

On the whole, I am not convinced we have a 'need' to bring anyone in before Friday's deadline. I mean a new face could help and if Dani does want out then maybe we should bring in replacements but so far as I can tell, this squad should see us through to the end of the season with us remaining firmly 9th.

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Saint Phil

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cork was MOTM for me, Passing excellent, Interceptions excellent, Tackling Excellent

Agree0 Disagree0

How can you pick a MOTM? Lallana was superb. Cork was exceptional - best game I've seen him had by far this season. Maya was fantastic first half, and very good second. Luke Shaw was outstanding, Chambers very good, Fonte - Great.

Morgan was great, Boruc - great, Steve Davis was good, Jay-Rod very good, Gallagher caused Arsenal defence no end of problems, and on another day could have emulated Shearer's full debut.

MOTM - who cares, My vote goes to anyone playing in red! Fantastic Saints Team performance. Just gutted that they weren't more positive for the first 5 minutes of the second half.

Arsenal deserved nothing from the game.

Not sure what to make of this but Osvaldo retweeted all the photo's of Fonte after scoring his header from the official Saints website, no comments made by him just the retweet, hope it's a positive thing that he's trying to rebuild that relationship but tbh I don't think he has much chance of coming back from what he did, or more likely he was mocking him, I don't know, thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's a mentalist

Credit where it's due, I think the Saints summer signings have all made a big contribution to the team this year.
Lovren has been outstanding, end of story.
Wanyama has certainly made Corky raise his game and.
Osvaldo has galvanised team spirit because the rest of the squad can't stand him and stick together!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha, brilliant

Does anyone know why Gallagher has been capped at a youth level by Scotland when he's an Exeter lad? Would hate to think that the potential next Shearer might not play for England. Another very promising performance from him tonight, think we'll be starting to see him very regularly. Also does anyone know if Lambert has a knock or something?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Slight hamstring problem I think

Agree0 Disagree0

His parents are Scottish, he's done what Targett has done though I think and switched his allegiance now

Agree0 Disagree0

He's eligible to play for either Scotland or England, but so far he's just been involved with the Scotts.

After tonites game I couldn't care less if osvaldo plays for us again or not because i'd pick young sam gallagher over him every time. Ok maybe a more experienced striker would have put that first half chance away but you have to admire the kids enthusiasm, effort and and skill. Did himself proud against the league leaders

Great performance tonight unlucky to concede two so quickly, but played very well, thought Gallagher was fantastic and another great prospect that we can expect to see playing more regularly, if he can maintain that level of performance but maybe improve his fitness he could be the striker we need, we don't need Osvaldo if we have him, Jay and Ricky shame he didn't score as he had 1 great chance but still a terrific debut! Poch seemed like we had some business in the next few days as he'd like to do some deals before the end of the window! A CB would be good as we only have 3 unless we use our academy to fill that position to, but CB's usually need a bit more experience before playing regularly, hopefully a quality player like Lovren can be bought, maybe Astori? Or someone English like Micah Richards maybe?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What is it with the Micah Richards obsession round here? He's not that great as a centre back. Much better options are out there and I doubt he'd come to us without first team football assured.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Maya could pull his finger out, and play like he did last night every week, we wouldn't need another CB.

Thought he was by far our best CB last season, and was very surprised that he has struggled so much. Meanwhile Jose Fonte (Baby) has gone from strength to strength.

Really impressive performance by Saints tonight, unlucky with the first goal they scored as Boruc seemed to have it had Giroud not got the flick, but the second one was just clinical finishing by Cazorla. What was really telling tonight was how in sync Rodriguez and Lallana have become, if Lambert, Gallagher or a potential incoming striker can play their part at the front then we'll get back to winning ways easily enough. And if the boys play the same way they did tonight we'll leave Craven Cottage with 3 points and maybe a bounty of goals on Saturday.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gallagher looked v. good tonight, shame he couldn't find the net, especially when on another day he could have had a hat trick.

Both Arsenal goals were good finishes but they were complete gifts, we didn't even look up for starting the 2nd half and it happens more often than I care to say too

Whether we win this game we shown what fab football we can play. 1 good finish from Gallagher and would been 2 up. let's hope Arsenal don't get better 2nd half and we get win and 3 points. Any prospective signings got be impressed watchin Saints tonight.

David Nugent just been spotted on M3 heading our way, maybe a shrewd back up striker signing or is he just on route to skate land to try and pick up some wages he's owed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Nugent is a decent player and another ex Burnley player so he knows a few at Saints but I doubt he'll be leaving Leicester when they look to be finally on the brink of Premiership football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good player but surely not much better then Sharp?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wouldn't want that ex skate

Dont tell lies
he is playing at birmingham tonight

Utd say Rooney will not be allowed to join any of their premiership rivals, that rules out Hull, Villa and Southampton. Shame, Shrek vs Osvaldo on the training ground would've been a sell out : (

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My money would be on Rooney. Osvaldo might fight dirty and try the surprise tactic but really who actually thinks he's hard?
I wish Stuart Pearce, Roy Keane or Alan Shearer were still playing and I recon Rooney could let him have the first punch (or slap, remember he is a latino) and then pull his head off and swallow it in one go followed by a couple of pints, some pork scratchings and a few Marlbro's

Agree0 Disagree0

Mmm osvaldo v hurlock

How do you know they've flown in a striker, I for one would love to see Muriel lambert has always been a great player but I think age is catching up. And Jrod is scoring more but not consistent. If we get Muriel that will be exciting!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Muriel used to be my cleaner, she's in her 60's. Maybe she was coming back from a winter break and someone had a bout of Chinese whispers?

Muriel Lambert used to be my cleaner too!
