Just seen a BT Sport add with Gareth Bale in it. He states he has made some great decisions in his career and names Saints which is a great touch.

Made a really bad decision with his recent hairdo, he has got a girly hair band. Lol

Saw that myself. Yes was nice to be mentioned like that as one of his good decisions.

His hair looks awful lol

southampton poll of the day today
would you let fonte leave
the way things are going he will be the only one left

I don't really think there is a need to panic because of players leaving. If they leave, they leave. Plenty more fish in the sea.
I would see Fonte as more back up in the coming season. If Koeman brings in he's targets. Whoever they may be.

If we do end up losing Lovren, we could do a lot worse than Gary Medel.
Just got relegated with Cardiff where he was mainly playing in the middle, but can clearly do a great job at the back as his performances for Chile are showing.

Wouldn't be near the quality of Lovren in my opinion. I think Medel is a decent player and tenacious but would get caught out at CB because his lack of height.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think he would prob join a team whos in europe next i'm afraid

How I think this has and will play out!
Mopo was told after cortese left that there was going to be a change of direction by the club and it was no longer viable to push for champions league football but he would still be given a good wage to stay on. but some players would be sold to balance the books! So from that moment his only concern was to up his Appel to other clubs ie not bothering with the FA cup it was all about how high up the table he could Finnish!
Mopo leaves we hunt for a new manager think the main reason it took so long to appoint a new manager is that the lack of ambition shown by the club to in coming mangers then big Ron is anounced!
Think the game plan is! and what was sold to Ronald short three year deal! With big wages for himself and brother with x tranfer budget! What Ronald will be getting out of this deal is a platform to sell himself to the big clubs so expect this all to happen again in about another 18 months and more top youngster to leave to the so called big clubs again!
To me it looks like the board have come to the conclusion that there's more money to be made selling young up and coming players instead of chasing silverware and European football?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wait and see who we sign in replacement, if poor choices are made we have every right to be fuming, but at the mo we still have a good squad of players that Koeman can add to and improve with his massive rumoured 70m budget

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes at the Mo! But do expect a few more players will leave! But like you say let's wait and see!

Agree0 Disagree0

As mentioned several times mopo and players left because of of k/l going back on word of paying bonuses for finishing 8th hence why they dumped the fa cup to c how high they could finish, mopo was furious as was lovren which started wheels in motion to where we are today

Clarkey Saint, you mentioned there might be a sale of the club in two years bubbling. Just rumour, I know. But would this be a bad thing. Obviously KL would be making a tidy profit. But on the other hand, the clubs stature would have increased ten fold since ML bought us. So the new (if any) owners would in my opinion be wealthier. We'd be a ready made club. No need to build up again.
Just need a few big name signings. what's the old saying. There's always someone bigger out there.
I'd rather see KL stick to her Dad's dream. But the sad thing is, it was his dream, not hers.

Hi

I wonder if anyone else feels like me, Mugged comes to mind Before I purchased my season ticket we were told no one would leave this club untill there is a new manager, and he has had a chance to try and convince the want away players to stay and fight for the Southampton cause. Well that seems to have gone out of the window as Ron's still on holiday, and three player's have gone or in the process of going.

The board should be ashamed of themselves for conning so many loyal fan's, If stories are to be believed we will also see Loveren, Chamber's S, Spider and Jay, go before this board is finished Raking in around £100 million and in my opinion let's not fool ourselves that KL and the board are going to let Ron spend that amount of money to replace what we have lost. Three seasons ago we were sold a dream by Mr Cortese, since she got rid of him that dream has been shattered, I mean what's the point of having the best acadamy in the UK if the club, and I include the fans in that see their acadamy star's sold to the first club that offers enough money, and to say we can't keep players if they want to leave is total BS remember last season when the Uraguyain biter wanted to leave Liverpool they said he's not going nowhere as he has only recently signed a new contract well he's still at Liverpool for the moment what's the point of signing a contract if the club are not going to enforce it WHY didn't Saints do that? Why didn't they force Lallana to ask for a transfer maybee the thought of losing a couple of million might have changed his mind Oh I forgot there not interested in the money are they The board are trying to convince everyone that the youngsters coming through are up to the task well if Sam Gallagher is anything to go by there no where near ready for the prem yet, not saying they won't be but there not yet.

Sorry to say this again but I feel totally let down by this board and can only see doom and gloom for Saint's fans this season then they won't get my money next year.

Rumours now focusing on Morgan looking at a move to a North London club further compounded by him quoted as saying that "everyone wants to further their career" are worrying me more than the lallana and shaw departures if I'm honest. Reason being is that as he says that I feel very much as if he knows that he can't further his career at saints. This is a concern as although we have a big manager in, that it looks as though the club may not be saying the things to the players and staff that they can further their career here. Bit worrying as both North London clubs cans qualify for CL surely? This would suggest that he sees Europa league as a step up to what saints can realistically aim for. Makes me think that the club may be talking about realistic aims of finishing mid table and simply consolidating as a premier league club, and we all know where this got us in the past don't we??

Right we know the usual suspects want out, shaw, lallana, lovren and spider. But has any more rumours surfaced regarding chambers, Clyne, wanyama, or ramirez?
I think it's best to sell on the remaining players should worshipped cortese, and start a fresh era under koeman.

Taking a little positive from the last couple of days. At least we are clearing out early do that we have plenty of time to replace, renew and improve. Wouldn't want the Shaw/Lallana saga to carry on until the final weeks of the transfer market.
That said the media really seem to have it in for us at the moment. Now Tv are saying Jay-rod is off to Spuds.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What's positive is that all the profits made will be reinvested in replacement, so we could be left with one of biggest budgets in the league! Certainly will be more than the likes of Everton and Newcastle and if invested properly we could still have a good year next year

Agree0 Disagree0

I would rather still have the players at the club than the money. We saw last year with Spurs buying lots of new players more than often never works. I think your on for a poor season.

Now is the time to make a statement of intent. Ed001 has stated that are ambition is gone and I think he's right if this exodus continues and we are planning to play are next gen of youth as first team its going to be a tough season.

We need a major signing to show where we are going. Pelle is a squad player signing. He was linked with a newly promoted club. Hernandez would be intent BUT we aren't going to be able to lure a player like that here without euro football.

We are stuck in limbo not good enough to sign top top players, and now cannot keep are best players shaw left to win trophies? Looks like we have stalled.

Oh well onwards we go the name on the front is all that matters

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I can appreciate this opinion except for the fact I don't believe the ambition has gone. How would you attract a manager like Koeman if all you had to offer was a chance to manage a premier league club? I don't see what else the likes of Les Reed can say to satisfy some of our fans, but to me personally it's clear the club is determined to push on for Europe. The difference is when Cortese was in charge he wanted to fast track this motion, but at what cost? Well we won't know, but I trust the board remain committed to this long term target. It's very disappointing to lose our household names but I believe the club will bring in strong replacements who we will soon be calling some of the best Saints players of the modern era.

One other thought to come to mind out of Lallana's expected transfer, thank god he didn't come from Portsmouth's academy otherwise their fans would feel like they'd won the lottery!

I don't think our ambitions gone. Ricky has become a legend for us but didn't have much left. To sell him for 4 mill is excellent. Shaw and lallana didn't want to stay. We have made over 55 million. that's more than we have made EVER. To get a new manager like Koeman and to say the money is being reinvested is excellent. The next dew weeks are really interesting and will show the intent.
I do not agree we have topped out. I do not agree its a fire sale.
Sod the media. They are always going to use clubs like us to push their worthless rags.
