Would take Harry Kane, Andros Townsend and Ryan Mason or a combination with cash for Jay Rod.

May be good business for the future. What do you guys think.

If Jay Rod returns fit and at his best I see no reason to let him go and replace with average players. Jay has the potential to be a big player over the next few years and his style fits into the current Saints team perfectly.

He will learn a lot more under RoKo than Mopo and I believe he will see this quite clearly from the performances so far this season. Why on earth would he want to move into a rebuilding situation now that he can see how negative that has been for most of the players who left Saints in the summer?

I think we should just keep Rodriguez as he's a good player and has shown that he's a good player who works well at Southampton. I don't think that Townsend is a good player at all and he probably won't wven make it into our first squad. I don't know enough about mason to comment, but we probably don't need any more midfielders, but I reckon Kane would be a good buy as a back up striker. He's a good, young, physical player who'll provide more squad depth. We have the money to get him though without having to trade Rodriguez, so we could still keep Rodriguez and get him too.

I like the look of Harry Kane and at 21 yrs old, he has plenty to offer if we were to get him.
However. Do we really think that Spurs will let him come without either Jay Rod or Morgan going the other way? . No chance.
I don't think that any right minded Saints fan wants to see either leave in January but. and it should be considered. and if the summer taught us anything, we should perhaps trust Roko and the board a little more without all the 'Gnashing of teeth and feet stamping' that we as Saints fans, did then.

We don't WANT to see anybody leave but because we don't NEED to sell, we've got a massive advantage if Spurs or Arsenal come a'calling. Harry Kane might be one who would lessen the blow should the Jay Rod romour go ahead. One thing is for certain. Any deal would be financially beneficial to us and at the same time we might not be any worse off if KANe came the other way.
In Roko I trust but for the moment I am enjoying 'living the dream' that is our beloved Saints. Long may it continue with fingers crossed for a second victory against Stoke tomorrow.

For me, Saint Martin hit the nail on the head here and I think Jay is better than all the other players listed together

How long has Jay got left on his contract?

The only people who will have a clue about Jay's recovery by January will be Saints and Jay.

Spurs have little money to spend. Does anyone think they will offer a deal for Jay Rod that would be acceptable to Saints (£20m-£25m) under these circumstances??? Suggest we should concentrate on such issues rather than the nonsense from the London media.

The whole situation with JRod is good news whichever way you look at it. He is a great asset to SFC but is no way the finished article and I think he knows that. I believe they will use him from the bench on about the hour mark on his return, there is no sense in bringing him on for 10 minutes because he needs to get the feel of the game again. Maybe best to give him a few run outs in the under 21's for match practice. Why would we sell him even for silly money as his price will only improve over the next year or so. I am fed up with the media saying teams like us can't compete with the big boys, utter nonsense. We are financially " well off " in comparison to some of the so called bigger clubs like Everton and Tottenham and have an academy to match anyone in Europe. It seems to me the name Southampton is not an attractive name in the football world therefore it is difficult to attract the big name players and this is mainly because of the derisory attitude given to us by the newspapers and general TV media. I think it is an utter disgrace that the only televised game so far this season was the first game of the season and that was only because of the three L's going to Liverpool from us. It seems that for as long as I can remember we have always been the little club on the South Coast that sort of doesn't have a place in the mainframe of top flight football. So what are we going to do about it ? We are going to put our best side out against Stoke tonight and hopefully go on to at least contest the Wembley final, we are going to continue playing as well as anybody in the Premier League and be safe from relegation by the end of January and do everything we can with the pressure off to win the FA Cup. I know it is a very long shot but what a situation it would be if we as SFC can make all the media and pundits eat their words and show that we are not that little country club that most of them think we are just making up the numbers. What ( and this a very long shot I know ) if we somehow won the League Cup and qualified for the Europa Cup but then finished 4th in the league and qualified for the Champions League knowing if you got knocked of that you go into the Europa Cup. Do you think that would shut them all up ? I think even then they would find a way of saying ( as usual ) we were lucky or the other sides didn't play to their true potential. Just fed up with not being recognised as a potential major force in the EPL. I know this all far fetched but it happened to Nottingham Forest not that long ago. It is 9. 25 in the morning so NO I haven't been drinking !

Can't see why Jay Rod would want to go to Spuds-seems they only have a five a side pitch!!

Now I understand why Saints stopped MoPo speaking English! He has started to talk rubbish and he sounds like a guy desperate to find excuses and looks like a guy who is feeling the pressure. Can't see a happy ending for him at Spuds and both Jay Rod and Morgan must see the same signals.

Saints to Spurs isn't a massive step up. Any player going there will know that they may be their current managers choice but by Spurs logic you only need to lose a handful of games and a massive change in management and coaching personnel is just around the corner. You may be favour of the month while the current coach is there but you'll be a fringe player within a season. Jay Rod wants to add to his england caps, that won't happen at Spurs the way they manage. They do have a better squad than us (as hard as that is to accept) but they don't have as good a team as we do ( based on the fact that they simply don't gel) because they don't get the chance. Spider and jay rod would regret it if they did switch. There isn't a single saints player that left in the summer that hasn't looked back and wish they'd hung around for a bit ( even if it was just for a few moments) but they all made mistakes leaving when they did. The name on the front of the shirt matters more than the name on the back be jay and Morgan are saints. Long may they reign!!
