To be honest I won't be to disappointed if we don't sign anyone, if Yoshida keeps playing the way he did against Arsenal, he could provide good enough cover and even competition for, Lovren and Fonte, Lovren tweeted saying he'll be back soon so may not need to sign a CB, as for strikers I'm very happy with giving Gallagher a shot after that full home debut performance, great strength and good on the ball, proved a real threat to Mertesacker and Koscielny for the duration he was on, seemed to have a bit of pace to and obviously gets goals so I'm all for him playing, therefore I'd say we're ok until Gaston and Lovren come back

Hi Ed

At the top of the Banter page it says the following.
This page will move to posts from registered users only after Christmas

Ahh, when after Christmas? or is it Christmas 2015?

As a regular user, I love the banter page, but it would be so much better if people registered so we can give them a bit of stick when they get it wrong, and credit when they get it right.

On another note, lots of names being mentioned regarding Saints, but have you heard any sensible rumours?

{Ed001's Note - that should have been changed but the transfer window kept us too busy. It is now meant to be registered users only. After the window we will have it so that you need to be registered to be able to post at all. The only unregistered users I am letting post, are the ones that were already in a conversation, so they can reply to the points made. Once the convos are done, Southampton will be registered users only.
The only thing I have heard was two enquiries regarding Osvaldo, both from Italy, both were rejected. Not sure if they were rejected because the club don't want to sell him, or if the enquiries were regarding loans and the club only wants to sell him. Or even if they were just suggesting a ridiculously low fee that the club dismissed. I am sure that the papers will have a guess for me though, as soon as they get wind of it!}

Hi Ed001. Many thanks! Get the feeling that they'll be plenty of takers for Osvaldo, but as you say at knock down prices.

{Ed001's Note - I am not sure whether the club want to sell him though, it could just be chancers hearing about his suspension trying it on.}

Saw jos hoiveld today getting into his new range rover. he did not look happy, I said hello. if looks could kill

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely you're not implying that it could be Jos leaving and not the satanical Osvaldo?

You should go straight to hell for such blasphemy!

lol

Oh mummy daddy!
Let it be true!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would like to see Lescott come in on loan for the rest of the season. We need cover and he needs to be in the shop window for the world cup.
Don't see him as a long term signing though.

If we do sign another Serie A player I for one won't be getting as excited as I have in the past, until I see their exciting performances on the pitch.

I can't think of any Serie A players that are doing all the well in the BPL.

They don't get the time or space to do their "stuff" here.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think it's so much about time and space - more the pace of the game. Saints in particular have a work ethic that teams from Italy don't seem to have. That said I stopped watching Italian football a long time ago as it was so boring. It seemed to be so slow, with teams allowing the other possession up until the final stages of the attack.

I do agree though that any player coming in from Serie A would need time to settle and adjust. If it does happen then let's hope the fans give them time

Agree0 Disagree0

Philippe Coutinho, very successful and joined Liverpool from Inter Milan last January. That is the most obvious example, I'm sure if I could be bothered to I could look in to other players who have joined from Serie A besides the only flop I can really think of which is Lamela. Osvaldo is a good player, just a shame he hardly plays and has clear anger management issues.

Agree0 Disagree0

Coutinho is a great player but he only scored 3 goals for inter in 3 years on their books and was sent out on loan by them to Espanyol.

I take your point that he came from a Serie A Club but that league didn't suit his game and in the end he wasn't wanted there.

Osvaldo is a good player in Italy but over here I no longer rate him and would now put Sam Gallagher ahead of him, Gaston can go back as well loads of potential but not much return, sorry guys but by the time Gaston and Guly adjust to the BPL their contracts will be up.

Agree0 Disagree0

Flamini, Coutino, Santon but your right not to many.

Did anyone notice gallagher's pace and workrate last night? Way better than I expected. His touches were spot on, especially with his head. He never stopped making forward runs. Yes, he missed a sitter, but I still think that he's more than up to the premier league challenge. We need to give him some playing time & get him to start scoring

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very impressed with the Big G but still think Hernandez on loan would have made the difference. Maya stepped up to but let's lord the performances our English players Luke Calum Jack Adam Jay as well as Sam. Brought on JWP and have SRL, Nath and Harry Reed playing to. England's future is bright - it must be red and white. COYR

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't want Hernandez personally, would rather give Gallagher a shot

Agree0 Disagree0

Ima big fan of Gallagher he is a better all round striker than Hernandez he would score tap ins but wouldn't suit saints style of play
