Thinking about the Southampton squad and what is needed to stay in the EPL I think the magic number is 7.
Nathaniel Clyne-Provides pace to cover CBs and flair going forward.
Curtis Davies-Pace which is lacking in our CBs, used as a covering defender with Jos going for the first ball (Marking your Crouches). Both useful aerially from corners and Davies has EPL previous.
Matt Phillips-Pace to burn, adds another dimension and way of creating chances. Think he could have a real impact in the EPL in the Chambo/ Walcott/ Valencia way of attacking (not saying he is the same class yet).
A central midfielder next to Morgan. Think morgan could anchor and spread play. Not sure if we need another all rounder (Whelan) or a playmaker. I think this is where NA could brake the transfer record. (Dembele/ Siguardsson or a skillful CAM from Europe/
De Vries- Competent goalkeeper to step in if Davis has problems and provides competition.
Another winger- Guly/ De Ridder/ Chaplow not good enough. Impact player such as Kightly)
Striker- I think Lambert and Lee will do well. Sharp will be up for it but not sure he has the pace. Looking for someone scoring 10+goals for the last 3 /4 seasons (when played). K Davies/ Yakubu/ Zamora/ Rodellaga. Someone that has done it before.

Davis, Clyne, C.Davies, Hooidveldt, Fox, Phillips, Schneiderlin, ?CM? Lallana, Lambert, Lee.
Subs: De Vries, Fonte, Richardson, Cork, Hammond, Kightly, ?Striker?
