Pochettino said there could be ins and outs tomorrow after the game.

In other news I expect to be bringing in a new f5 key on Friday

Pochettino told radio Solent that there will be ins and outs tomorrow, sounds like a winger coming in to me.

Well, what a close game that was! I think we deserved a draw after our second half performance, and I was impressed by the tactical decisions Mauricio Pochettino made during the game. His substitutions worked brilliantly, with Steven Davis and Adam Lallana coming on right at the start of the second half to make a good impact on the game which they did (Would Nigel Adkins have brought them on as early as that? I think we would of had to wait until at least the 60th minute before he would of brought them on), and getting the team to press higher and higher throughout the game, forcing Manchester United into several mistakes and continuously giving away the ball in the process. Boruc again proved his form with another world-class save against an otherwise dead cert goal from Robin Van Persie, and Cork and Schneiderlin ran the midfield well getting in some great tackles and interceptions.

The decision to play Danny Fox ahead of Luke Shaw might have been a good one in the end because of the crucial game against Wigan Athletic coming up, and he managed to get 10 or so minutes at the end of the game to prepare him for that. What did you guys think of the game?

Saints played fantastically well tonight, irrelevant of the result we got. All that we lacked was a finisher...and I did notice Cortese was shown at the game so I definitely think he may still look to bring in someone to flair up our midfield some more and perhaps another striker. To see us dominate a full half against one of the best teams in the world is phenomenal and shows a hell of a lot of progress...teams in far better positions haven't been able to outplay united like we did for years at old Trafford! Let's just see what has happened in 24 hours time.

Incredible work, gutted about Readings come back against Chelsea, the pressure is on but the lads can do it. Hope to see something big happen tomorrow and then to march on and beat Wigan would be superb. We need the points now to put us in as comfortable a position as possible.

Agree complety good finnisher with bags of pace is what's needed and a midfielder like lucus biglla to control the midfield that would do it. . well played lads more of the same!!! poc's got the boys playing great football just need that bit of class to complete the team?

Love to see Butland at SMS. At £3 mill (half last windows price) absolute bargain and rekon he'd play first team football. Boruc has had a few good games lately admittingly but this kid is going to be a very good keeper in future and fits Saints transfer model.

Would also like to see winger/attacking mid to strengthen.

No idea if signings will be made but let's hope we can put in a decent shift v united tonight.

Zee,

Cool to see you over here being nice to your opponents, be careful the boys don't catch you, you know how nasty KLOOT can be. The rest are OK, well maybe Sydney! gambles to much. Don't let him lead you astray.

After the bonding trip to Barcelona we seem to look in good shape, especially with Adam Lallana training again and a possible return to the squad (starting 11 or bench, who knows?) for tonight's game against Manchester United. Artur Boruc has got his well deserved international call-up for Poland after two years since last playing for them, so should definitely stay in goal for us. Then there's the defenders, with Nathaniel Clyne at right-back (been solid all season), Luke Shaw the obvious left-back (I don't have to explain myself there), and then there will be a selection dilemma at centre-back, with Maya Yoshida improving with every game and then the tough decision of whether to stick with Jos Hooiveld or go with new signing Vegard Forren. Personally, I feel Jos Hooiveld has done OK since being in the side, and we have got some good results with him in there and it could take a while for Forren to adjust to the pace and tempo of the premier league, so I would stick with Jos to be on the safe side, unless he feels this is the perfect opportunity to stick Forren in against the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie to see how he adapts as he looks to have some quality according to the likes of ex-Saint Claus Ludekvam (Who's also Norwegian) and ex-United Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Manager of Molde).

Moving onto the midfield, Jack Cork and Morgan Schneiderlin with the recent form they're in should stay as the two CDMs, as long as Mauricio Pochettino sticks with what Nigel Adkins has done formation wise and doesn't switch to his preferred 4-3-3 YET. Then with Guly Do Prado out injured, we should have another selection dilemma at left wing between Adam Lallana who he may not want to risk yet and may want for the crucial Wigan match, or Jay Rodriguez who I personally think we should give a chance as he works hard and is ever-improving in my opinion. However, Steve De Ridder could be a surprise inclusion after coming off the bench against Everton but personally I don't think he has as much work rate as J-Rod and is not very good defensively to help Luke Shaw. Jason Puncheon is then a dead cert on right-wing (been one of our best players this season, I hope we tie him to a new contract soon), and Gaston Ramirez in attacking midfield with his creativity and flair against the United defence. And last but not least, the one and only Rickie Lambert up front.

What do you guys think of our chances tonight, and who would you choose for the selection dilemmas between Jos Hooiveld and Vegard Forren at CB, and Jay Rodriguez and Adam Lallana at left-wing, bearing in mind the risk of playing Adam?

I'd give Forren a real taste of Premiership football, think of it this way, our partnership in years to come will be Forren and Yoshida, so throw him in the deep end and give him a taste of what he's up for, he will adapt and he will work hard to prove why he deserves to play there again.

As for left wing, I'm not sure if others will agree with me here but I think it could be a chance for Tadnari Lee to have a go, he can start the game and eventually be replaced by the returning Adam Lallana.

I see us losing 3-0 tonight. utd are unbelieveable at old trafford. only lost 35 games there in the history of premier league. they not lost there to a newly promoted team in 12 years.. but there again we've all seen strange this happen in football

Agree0 Disagree2

I would like to see Forren get his debut tonight, I beleive he has been in telephone contact with Solskjaer so will be well prepped (as much as he can be withiut actually playing a game in the PL). Jos has been doing well since coming back into the side but Forren will be more mobile and this will be important against a good side who move the ball around well. PLus he is a full international so he has played at good level anyway.

In respect of the left side, I do agree that Jay Rod's work rate will better suit Pochettino's high pressure style of play as opposed to De Ridder, although I do think we will see Steeeeve at some point tonight, he will be full of hope with the change of manager and looking to impress. Fox may even get a look in here, who knows. It may be too soon for AL and I would hate to see him have a set back before Wigan as you say.

We cannot rule out signings for Southampton today or tomorrow. We won't hear anything today because of the game at Old Trafford. Mauricio Pochettino said he was happy with the squad but that they would still look at the market in case anything suitable came up. Do not rule out any signings until 11 tomorrow night.
