Adams has joined on a one year contract and its believed that the unveiling of the new home kit was a major factor in his decision, he said, ' it reminds me of my playing days at The Arsenal. Good post but three of their most influential players were not picked up from the Championship and are the ones that score the goals that matter. They are Leon Osman, Jelavic and Pienaar. Without them and a few others they would have struggled and think they may well suffer this season now Moyes has gone.

We need to raid the championship!
Everton have been doing it for 15yrs and they're not doing too badly!
Clyne and Rodriguez both signed from the Championship and both are quality!
We should look to sign:
Kasper Schmeichel (great 2nd/competition)
Keiran Trippier (good young rb v quick)
Aaron Cresswell (great delivery)
Nathan Redmond (explosive winger)
Tom Ince (quality winger/inside forward)
Charlie Austin (geniune competition to SRL and potential long term replacement)
Thoughts?

Spot on. Raid the Championship for our squad players and splash the cash on a top top striker and winger. Top ten must be our goal next season with a great cup run. In 2014/15 we can dream of Damiao Lamela and Banega COYR

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, I want more English players to sign and a lot of these would be great additions

Agree0 Disagree0

Championship getting more expensive now though. Cheaper to shop in la liga/serie A in the current financial climate.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know if its that much cheaper in la liga and serie a and if it is its only 1-2m per player and I think it's worth the extra to buy blood and guts British players that will fight for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sti wish saints woud try and
get tom ince

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

He has not gone to Cardiff. Blackpool have accepted Cardiff offer, Ince has not-as yet.

As much as I'd like us to sign the likes of Lamela and Dalmio as they're both class, as ambitious as Cortese is I don't see us spending 20m+ on one player, it's not really the southampton way is it? It's great to be linked with these players, but we usually look for young underated players, for lower prices and to be honest rather than splashing out 20m on one player I'd rather us spend it on adding squad depth, a new RB, LB cover is needed, a Winger good enough to rotate in and out of our first team with our current wingers and a striker, I personally think the most we spend will be 10-12m on a DM like Nainlagon or Banega although with Cork, Shneiderline, Davies and Prowse, do we actually need a DM? Wouldn't mind that 12m to be spent on a striker that could grab us 10+ goals next season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We're not supposed to be spending 20m+ on a player? The reported amounts were in Euros. 20m Euros isn't much more than what we paid for Ramirez, so we obviously will spend that much, don't understand how you can't see that?

Agree0 Disagree0

Can anyone remember wot happened when keegan signed
and he should of went to a top European side at the time

Agree0 Disagree0

20m euros is 16-18m sterling roughly. Exchange rates are naff at the min.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok, my point still stands it's a lot of money to spend on one player

What exactly is the "Southampton way"?! I'm sick to death of muppets stuck in the past. Haven't you noticed the club evolving. I'm all for tradition but some people cling onto it like its more important than progression. Have a little think. we all loved The Dell but had we stayed, we would be lucky to be in the top two tiers. Embrace the changes and bask in the glories it IS bringing.
