I said to everyone at the start of the season that lambert would score more goals than Holt did for Norwich this season. and he is two goals behind! I reckon by the end of the season he'll have finished with 18-19 goals for us and if so he has to be worth a good 15 million taking in to consideration his age! If he was younger I reckon a good 30 million tbh. especailly considering andy carrol was worth 35 million and he's awful! c'mon you reds

Can't really see what the point is of calculating what a guy is worth who has just signed a contract to enable him to finish his career at Saints.

Apart from his own play Lambert is a gem to Saints because of what he can teach other players in the squad. He has come through the leagues and improved and improved through determination and this is such a valuable factor within a young team and a superb academy.

As a Norwich fan I can understand you frustrations, Lambert and Holt are good mates and similar players, let's be honest although Holt last season and Lambert this season were the best English players in the premiership, they will never get a chance at the top because Norwich or Southampton ar a top 6 club, and they are not 25milion plus players. Holt should have been handed a cap last season, and on current form I (as a true football fan) would love to see Lambert handed a cap this season, will it happen? Holt deserved a chance when he was on form, as Lambert deserves a chance now.

Celtic fan here, wanted to get your thoughts on this. How is Ricky Lambert not in the England side? He's Scored more goals than any other English Striker in the EPL (Just seen his freekick what a beauty) It shows you double chin Roy Hodge is a fool. If Andy Carroll was worth 35 Million than Ricky Lambert must be worth 60 million lol, but nah I think Lambert is a brilliant player. What are your thoughts on Boruc? Had a shaky start but he's redeemed himself and really is top class, one of my favourite Celtic players of all time, glad to see him doing so well at your club. Nice post mate.

Lambert is a gem and certainly could be a big plus for England to give Rooney some cover and to keep the energy going in the last 20 when Rooney can fade out of a game. He is also a superb club man and is one of the real strong, positive influences upon the younger players how to behave and to develop to their potential.

Boruc looked pretty average to start with but is now much fitter and his distribution allows us to get playing out from the back quickly and accurately.

Yes, agree with top 6 next season. When this team start to relax a little they will give some good teams real tankings.

Know it is not one of your favourites but really proud how Saints agreed a decent fee with Rangers for Davis-don't know if it got through because SFA were getting involved, but it was the right thing to do.

Hi Newcastle fan here in peace.
Ricky Lambert, proper striker, strong in the air, good shot on him.
as for Southampton, good side, play good football, deserve to stay up, hope Newcastle can as stay up.
anyway well done on beating Chelsea fully deserved.

Nice to see an intelligent post by a Celtic fan and not one riled up because we were linked with Hooper saying none of our players would get in Celtics first team etc. bravo mate. I think if Ricky doesn't get a chance for England before Brazil 2014 it will be a travesty not just for England fans but for Ricky himself he deserves his chance. Can't see Roy picking him though. If Harry Redknapp was in change he would have more chance! Roy is like every other England manager is just picking his team from the top 7 and looking no further. It is a joke. Probably would of scored against Montenegro seeing as he has 100 league goals for us in his 4th season.

Celtic fan again, some great replies. But if only Lambert had a Scottish parent lol I'd take him in a heartbeat I have given up supporting Scotland they are absolutely terrible. I'll still be going to the England Scotland game in the summer though, maybe Hodge should play Lambert and Hooper up front, even though Hooper's been p*sh since we were put out the Champions League. and the boy who was on about Davis, he is a quality player yes you got him for a steal he was too good for Ranger's but Ranger's are dead now and we're all happy :D Right I want your Opinion's on this, do you think it's fair that next Season Celtic have to start 1 qualifying round earlier for the champions League than this season, we have to play two qualifiers and then a play off just to get the group stages! We proved we can play with the best our group wasn't easy Benfica Spartak and Barca got 10 points from that group and home and away we made Barca work harder than any other team have in the Champions League this season! yet we're ranked lower than last year! I still think we'll make it though I hope so anyway haha.
