Cortese on holiday and NOTHING is done without his sayso... this from les reed

Cortese being on holiday doesn't just block all transfers other people are left in place to negotiate and Cortese is consulted over the phone during that period.

Because there are no more players to rumour about think saints fans have gone through them all lol! {Ed007's Note - LMFAO.}

Actually... We're linked with very few players so allow me to add some to the list... Southampton are linked with buying... The Premiership
The Football Leauge
UEFA
FIFA
THE UNIVERSE.
I think if we make these signings we could have a chance of a good finish in the league next season.

Ed007 is a Celtic fan unlucky! enjoy watching your dire spl football where any team in from the championship up could challenge for the title. We look forward to getting Hooper off you in January after your out of the champions league {Ed007's Note - Thanks very much, nice to know you are cheering us on in the CL through the qualifiers, but why do you think watching CL football is unlucky? I must have missed Southampton's recent European adventures, sorry. How many ex-SPL player's will that make in your team then if you can actually afford Hooper this time?}

That was a harsh comment I apologise to Ed007 on behalf of this guy seeing as I'm doubting he will. Celtic are a reasonable side and I mean Hooper should stay at Celtic. I'm not sure we really want/need him at St Mary's so I'd hope he'd remain with Celtic. Also good luck to Celtic for Europe next year seeing as it seems that will be your tough games for next season, just a quick question for Ed007, do you think the SPL lacks something without Rangers? {Ed007's Note - No worries mate, it's all banter to me. Of course I think the whole of Scottish football, not just the SPL. If the fans stick by the new club through the divisions they should be back in the top league in no time, until then we just need to get on with it. I do genuinely feel sorry for the decent Rangers fans who have lost their club.}

We don't need Hooper but why wait until January? Celtic will be out of the CL by next week.
SaintGazza {Ed007's Note - I can't believe I am talking about CL football with a Southampton fan, it is rather bizarre!}

What will be the score when saints play man city at city?
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Man city 3 - 2 southampton or man city 1-2 southampton (strange feeling) or a boring 1-0 by either team

3-1 city, and I'm a saints fan, but with the defence we have got we will be lucky to have a clean sheet all season!

1-1. I seem to think the season will kick off with a horribly nerve racking draw.

I think we'll score just depend on how many, high scoring game

Reckon we'll do a QPR and get beaten from the lead in the last few minutes.

Ok this isn't much of a rumour this is just a comment on the young Luke Shaw. A lot of people on here have claimed saints need a new left back as he's too young and not good enough. In case none of you remember a few years ago Alan Hanson said about Manchester United 'you'll never win the Premiership with kids.' However the kids weren't any kids they were players like Beckham, Scholes and Neville. Man U won the league that season. I'm not saying this is exactly the same and Southampton will win the league but I am saying Shaw is a very talented lad and I reckon he'll show through like those players did all those years ago.

Although i would like to agree, the difference is that the man u youngsters had been playing together in a successful youth side. The youngsters we have brought in, although quality will take awhile to gel. Though if NA & NC can bring in a bit of flair to the side I think we can have a great season COYR. jimboSaint

I agree with that! I think he will be getting regular football by the end of the season and james ward prowse there both awesome football players with alot of potential.

I will just clarify myself, Shaw is a great player I know he isn't fully integrated but he's already doing great and getting on well. I'm not saying that cause of him Saints will win the league but he is a top standard player and really should be seen as such.

Agree with that post fully. Ward-Prowse was probably our best player in both the Evian & Carouge matches. He will push Cork and Davis throughout the season.
Shaw also looked very assured on tour, scored a great goal against Carouge - the equaliser cutting in from his left wing role and curling a right-footer into the far post.
Showed a lot of confidence for a 17 yr old playing out of position.
Have to say also that Guly looks like he's stepped up a level in pre-season - looks fit and hungry to prove himself. Played a lot on the left in France/Switzerland and played well.
Chambers struggled to make an impact, although he was more central than his accustomed wing role, while Stephens looked solid at CB.
I've not been impressed with Richardson in the 3 games i saw him play pre-season. Clyne looks awesome though, and actually Butterfield looked very composed on tour.

Agree with all, with the exception of Richardson, personally i feel he is a good player and based on last seasons games, he was very good at assisting Rickies back post headers, as he bagged over 12 assists, however Clyne does seem to be head and shoulders above most other RB in the league.

I think we'd have to pay over the odds for him, with Blackburn's valuations
