It has been really quiet recently. Do you think that this is because we are trying to sign someone but do not want it to go public or do you think that it is because we are no longer going to try and sign someone. If we are trying to sign someone then we must do it very soon because there is only one more game left of this pre season and they are missing a lot of bonding time with the players.

Being quiet probably doesn't have anything to do with our transfer activity. Unless you think that the club intentionally make noise when there is no transfer activity?!

Lack of rumours means nothing, we've had signings during heavy rumours (eg. Wanyama, Ramirez) and ones without heavy rumours (eg. Lovren). I'm hopefully for one more signing this window (clinical striker) but it's not the end of the world, we've got a great squad. Will be in and around the top half with what we have, which is a good result.

They are almost definitely trying to make more improvements considering they have identified striking weaknesses and not added Damiao or any new attacking option.

We are going to sign people the quiet could meen we have or are very close to signing someone it was the sam with wanyama and lovren when they signed so let's hope there's 1 or 2 at least to come in

Watching premier league years and just seen Pahars score a double to keep us up. How we could do with a striker in his molde and with his ability (minus the injurys). as our next signing. He was class

Given the match reports and scores, leaving out the pub game during pre season, we need a goal scorer. Nothing has changed from the end of last season! Create chances, dominate possession but can't convert. Sir Rickie Lambert, fantastic and prolific, he's been has not had the greatest record in scoring, since MP arrived. Jay Rod, electric pace, bit light weight on his own, Guly has a great engine but is an awful finisher! Convinced a striker will be signed during this window.

I totally agree with you and because it has been so quiet I believe a deal was done some time ago and NC has been sitting on it until the tour was over so as not to rock the boat with player motivation. Don't know who it is going to be but it will happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

The tour finished over a week ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

Definitely think if we get banega and damiao we will finish top 6. Benaga is the creative mid who will link up with strikers and damiao is awesome at finding space and putting ball in back of the net. Please let us get these 2 players.

They were in Spain last night which still counts. They are back tomorrow for training and I think that constitutes tour over.

Agree0 Disagree0

The 'tour' did finish over a week ago, but our European set of friendlies overseas has just finished, which is what I assume the comment meant. We've been flying all over the place recently, but will remain in Southampton for the next few weeks, which possibly gives more opportunity to nail down signings and do all the media prep surrounding them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed.

I think we will sign one more player in this window, although I expect it will be on the last day of the transfer window as Cortese won't be held to ransom and in the end the agent will have to waive to his demands to get his pay day even if it is a lot smaller than his greedy hands expected.

It is widely known fees for transfers go up exponentially if it goes down to the last day, if he save a certain amount on wages, will it matter if we have to pay 5 million more or something. Cortesse knows this. It's silly to try and buy someone at a certain point during the window if the decision is made because of money, If we buy at the beginning of the windows fees are at there lowest but wage demands may be higher, but you could also argue that players agents make higher demands on the last day because the clubs are racing against time and just fold.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not necessarily, not if a player wants out or agent wants his fee or clubs need to sell to get a player off the wage bill they will not cost more. Plus I was talking about agent fees not transfer fees. Also the player would have been courted for weeks so I am not saying he is trying to buy them at a certain point in the window but the big transfers are all a bit like a game of chess nowadays, that is why so many deals go through on the last day. I pretty much disagree with everything you have said lol
