That performance just emphasises we need cover especially at CB. Yoshida is clearly not good enough, the guy continues to chase the ball regardless of position or marking. We also need more options out wide who can create and unlock teams who come to St Marys and "park the bus" I mean 77% possession and only 2 goals (both headers)

Agree with post above, thought Maya was not good enough positionally tonight and did not close the opposition down, just tracks the ball, lacks wider awareness of the game.
We are progressing which is a positive when compared to last season, however, I feel we need to invest again in January, the above post mentions CB, what about another keeper? What are other Saints fans thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel another keeper is a high priority, wether it is an understudy, direct replacement or just competition. A quality CB to start with lovren is also an are I would think needs strengthening, loose hooiveld and Yoshida, Fonte for rotation.
Personally where I feel we really need a player is out wide, someone to cut in, cause problems and can run at players and make things happen. below are people I think would suit. (just what I would love to see)

GK - Jeroen Zoet (young, talented, available from an under performing PSV)

CB - Micah Richards (his real position, could be looking to leave city for first team football prior to world cup, wages an issue)

RW/LW - Giovanni Dos Santos (probably villareals best player this year but at a team short on cash may accept a decent offer)

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the idea of Micah Richards, but I bet we couldn't match his wage demands

Lost first half 0-1
Drew second 2-2
Glad Wanyama saved for City on Saturday.
Little mention that Cork crossed to Lambert for Ossies goal.
We road our luck earlier in the season so tonight was just one of those things. Shame came so close to Arsenal Chelsea with City next

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes need quality cover but also cut out the stupid mistakes that will ruin our season

Agree0 Disagree0

It was Fonte who crossed the ball not cork

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama was on crutches after the game so not sure he will be fit for Saturday. Also it was Jose who crossed for Osvaldo's goal not Cork

Agree0 Disagree0

It's fair to say that mistakes cost us dearly last night. Mistake from Yoshida for the first goal, trying to intercept the pass, and for the second Cork got caught in possession - Interestingly Maya was hanging too deep for the second goal, which allowed Kozac to push further forward.

Both Cork and Yoshida haven't been playing, and to a degree it showed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Unlucky to lose as we were clearly the better team. Bad decision to play Yoshida when we didn't need to. He is just not good enough. We need a CB and also cover for Shaw. The front line looks good with J-Rod, Ricky and Osvaldo plus Adam floating behind. We should have won 2-0 and probably more, but the defence, Lovren apart, was not good enough. What we desperately need is one if not two genuine wingers with speed. We are relying on Shaw and Clyne to play dual roles of defender and winger, and it is not working. Both are good in defensive. Clyne is not quick enough or clever enough going forwards. Luke is better but not brilliant at it. Finally, stating the obvious, we need a second string classy goalkeeper pdq. Keeping the faith as we are clearly better than about 10 or 11 teams in the league, but we will need to invest wisely if we are to progress beyond 8th or 9th.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reminds me of the start of last season, when we played Man City, Man U, Wigan and Arsenal. When your playign those boys the pressure to beat the Wigans or Villas of this world to make up for the other 3 difficult games becomes too much. Well let's hope we don't lose 6-1 on Saturday

Agree0 Disagree0

Icehorse Saint, agree with what you are saying except for the bit about Clyne - He is very, very quick!

for some reason people have to have a whipping boy, Vic isn't the finished article yet, he will be though, let's support him & Gazzaniga please.

£12m paid. Highly rated, replaced a popular squad member who came third in player of season vote last year who made a difference to the team when he returned from injury and helped secure safety.
Expected big things of Bic but we seem to be all saying "he'll be great when he improves". It's Lallana, Jrod, Morgan, Lovren, JWP, Clyne, Boruc etc that have been doing the business and he just stands there giving fouls away and dodgy passes, and some experts think that's his job in the team.
Only an opinion, obviously not shared by Poch but we're all entitled to one

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but you all keep jumping on a players back that has been part of a team that is 7th in the table and that is some achievement for a team like us.

Agree0 Disagree0

A team like us?
Thought we were champions league hopefuls?

Agree0 Disagree0

So, our £12m player has to be criticised (because he is a £12m player?) but when replaced by a popular squad member who then lost the ball that led to a goal (and what did he do at Sunderland in the Cup) we are supposed to not notice that? And, no, he did not make the cross, that was Fonte.

Sorry, I am not trying to criticise Jack but it simply shows that EVEN a player who has played best part of a season within a team in the EPL finds it difficult to suddenly get up to speed after a while out. So why do some expect Victor to hit the ground running when he has no previous experience of the EPL or his team mates?

Your opinion is certainly valid, but I would understand it a little better if it was not one sided.

Vic played the 90 minutes against Arsenal and Chelsea plus the first half we lost against Villa but not the second half we drew.

Just wanted to offer a balanced view.

So everyone is predicting Saints will win against Villa tonight even Lawro has us down for a 2-1 win, this is out of my comfort zone as a long term Saints fan.

If Lawro had us down to lose I'd be far happier!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Curse of Lawrenson strikes again!
