Billy sharp signing permanently for nottingham forest 2mil

Believable1 Unbelievable6

I know it won't happen but regarding recent rumours what do you think?
...........................ter stegan...............................
Clyne........Douglas..........astori.............shaw...
Lens..........cork...............spidy.............lallana..
.............ramirez.................Lambert

Agree2 Disagree1

That would be such a good team! But who is spidy?

Agree0 Disagree2

Lens wants to play in a striker position
and WE ARE NOT GETTING A GOALKEEPER!

Agree1 Disagree5

Theres only ten players in that line up so they may struggle lol

Agree1 Disagree9

Spiderman - Morgan Schneiderlin

Agree2 Disagree0

Not getting Ter Stegen or Lens. Fairly sure all the news over Lens was rested after the summer window and it failing to materialise.
I'm not sure we'll take both Douglas and Astori. While I would love to have both I'm not sure it'll happen.

Agree1 Disagree0

Is Spidy, Shneiderlin?

Agree1 Disagree0

Really really like the look of that team but think punchun has been worth every penny this season so far.

Looking into it more it looks like Cagliari and saints do not quite have a fee agree yet. But Saints have agreed personal terms with the player.

It sounds a lot like the Ramirez deal, Cagliari are holding out for the best deal possible, allowing Saints to agree a deal with Astori, leading to it being very hard for Saints to pull out.

However a deal is very close, according to a number of sources. and according to Italian pundits is as big a coup as Gaston Ramirez, having been capped for Italy, and having attracted interest from Juventus and Napoli (who are about to sign a different defender instead of Astori).

he's a left sided centre back who's comfortable in possession and good in the tackle, sounds more like a Yoshida sort of player but i expect him to replace Fonte, with Yoshida being able to play on both sides of defense.

Wont sign strait away but hopefully in time for the Villa game...

I think he'd play with Fonte and Yoshida would drop to the bench. Especially with the Lallana injury and Fonte being the Vice Captain.

I thought people would have posted more about this by now but according to Italian papers Southampton have had a bit accepted for Italian CB Davide Astori, said to be 10 million euros, so around 8 mil pounds, according to his agent he is open to a move.

Adkins is normally so evasive but when mentioned he praised the player in his pre-match press conference before arsenal, so a deal sounds likely.

Cagliari are struggling financially, so i doubt he is on a high wage, therefore i don't wages will not be a problem,

I do not know however whether clubs such as Napoli and Juve will match Saint's bid

Saint 93

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Unlikely. Both of those clubs have had to watch their books a little recently. I think they will also not match the valuation of the player as to them he probably isn't worth as much. Or at least not yet.

We need two strong defenders and another attacking midfielder. Our goalkeepers are not crap just need a stronger assistance from the defence which with the defence now I could run past ATM and I'm in a wheel chair

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Our goalkeepers have all made errors, our defence has been solid the last 10 games. If our goalkeepers had made 0 mistakes we would be 8-10 points better off. Sad but true

Agree6 Disagree0

Our defence has been very good as of late, if you haven't noticed! It's our keeper's errors which have cost us! But that could be down to Adkins keeping on changing them.

Agree4 Disagree0

He's had little choice with changing keepers really. Davis started off the season and made some very large mistakes.

This meant that he needed to try out someone else. Gazzaniga rose to the role and actually played well. But then we signed Boruc and he trained with us and prompted him going in goal.

He then had an 'incident' causing him to be dropped for disciplinary reasons and Gazzaniga was the logical replacement who just made an unfortunate error and then wound up injured.

This prompted a need for Kelvin to return to goal and he was actually alright this time around. The come back against Stoke however may have prompted us to give Boruc a second chance and other than for the first 5 minutes he played well against Arsenal. He did make the crucial takes later on in the game and made the odd save.

That is why we've been through these keepers time and time again. But actually, overall, they haven't been terrible. I mean Gazzaniga made really one major error which I am confident he won't do again and will make him grow as a player. Boruc is a good keeper and I trust can keep his shenanigans out and just play good football.

Teams are coming in for another of our youth prospects Matt(y) Targett, id be hacked off if we let him go, on par with Luke Shaw and JWP development wise. Plays RB for U21s if remember rightly but articles are saying LB. He's only 17 and we need to keep him imo.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Which 'teams'?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it could make a very interesting programme to record each of Cortese's replies to these approaches! However, the message will eventually get out. Why do these teams think Saints spend so much effort and money on their academy if they would then sell off the results of this? No longer Mr. Lowe and his equivalent of a Puppy Farm!

Sam Hoskins off to Stevenage on loan. Any other news on departing Saints players? Fingers crossed we lose some of the dead wood like Seaborne and Dickson in this window and end up with something more closely resembling an EPL squad.

Aussie Saint

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Isn't the problem of losing 'dead wood' due to increased wages following promotion? I expect an exodus of these players in the summer when their contracts expire. I'm sure that's the case with Dickson at least.
SaintGazza

Agree0 Disagree0

Well supposedly we're selling Seaborne to Charlton (or at least it's been rumoured they want him permanently). Dickson won't go until his contract runs as he wants the money not the football. Think Butterfield may retire this season anyway. So we may see some players depart this summer for one reason or another.

Agree0 Disagree0

Still think up to 6 could leave this month.
