celtic fan here , how much would southampton be willing to pay for hopper because he wont be going for under 10 m

Believable0 Unbelievable2

£7m max or no deal.

Agree0 Disagree1

The Scottish press 'reported' that a £7M bid would be seriously considered but, personally, think Rodrigues would be a better bet based on what we already have.

Honestly mate we won't sign him. Saints probably won't go over £6 million based on other talent available for cheaper.

If Celtic want to drive a hard bargain that is their call and they are perfectly entitled to it, but we could get a much hotter prospect for £6million and the management at Saints won't get caught up in getting ripped off, which is what Celtic are asking for.

Celtic can't back down the asking price now now they have dug themselves a hole they can't sell for less than £8 million. And Saints won't go over what the player is realistically worth.. which is definitely over £5 million, but no more than £7 million if we want a fair deal. Like I said, better out there for that money but if Celtic rate him that highly then they can have him and good luck to you.

Tom Ince would be a nice addition. Can see him growing in the Prem.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Ince cutting in from the right and Lallana in from the left would be awesome!

Very big call there. Don't think he is proven enough to make that kind of statement.

He would be a good addition in the long term. But short-term do we want more stability considering he would probably cost up to £4 millon and that would take a large chunk out of our transfer budget? I'd only buy him as an 'extra' if we had already secured vital players and had some money to invest in inexperienced hot prospects.

THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN! to the premier league...NA with the backing of NC has taken a good team and made it GREAT by winning back to back promotions!well done. The players are to be commended but they will need help to play amongst the big boys!. Proven quality is needed to complement our unproven premier team. NA has created a team spirit and unity that he doesn't want to upset by bringing in too many new players. One new player in each position would be ideal. here is a wish list of what i feel are quality players who will add strength to our squad. Some are extreamly hopeful, some are within our means, but all are great players, and in relegated BPL teams or top championship players.

GK - young back up for Davis (here is a long shot..Lindegaard, cant be happy behind De Gea)

CM - need more speed. I still think he will use Fonte and Hooiveld as his first choice, until proven wrong..

From the championship in order of best choice-
M Phillips
ZAHA
Snodgrass
Naughton
Clyne

from the relegated BPL teams in order of best choice -
M Jarvis (quality winger) WOL
Yakubu (proven beast of a goalscorer) BLA
Taarabt (confidence and fitness returning) QPR
Hoilett (pride of Canada) BLA
L Young (solid FB) QPR
C Eagles (creative, goal scoring mid) BOL
M Kightly (getting back to his best form) WOL
R Miyaichi (young and fearless, great dribbler) BOL

All would be great, one or two more likely, but we can dream right!

LORD I WANT TO BE IN THAT NUMBER WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN!!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Glad you pointed out this is a dream!

Firstly the players from your list I wouldn't want:

- Miyachi - would prefer a bit more experience, we have enough youth prospects

- Taarabt - chip on his shoulder, wouldn't fit into 'The Saints Way'. Decent player mind, just think he is an ego we don't need.

- Eagles - not particularly overwhelming. Average in every sense of the word. Would be an OK signing but would be lying if I said I wouldn't be disappointed based on other talent out there.

- Kightly - I would always see signing him as a cop out and failed attempt at signing Jarvis who is MILES better.

Right now for the ones which I think are unlikely:

- Phillips, Zaha, Clyne, Hoilett - bigger clubs interested unfortunately but would love any of them.

- L Young - if they stay up he will stay at QPR. If they go down he will stay since only signed with them recently and isn't good enough to jump ship just because they go down.

- Yakubu - mixed feelings about him. Quality baller without a doubt but think we need pace up top rather than a strong target man? Already got lambo? Depends on price/wage if cheap would be great addition for the bench if nothing else.

Ones that look possible and would be great:

- Snodgrass - great work ethic, bit of pace, loads of creativity that we need to take pressure off lallana. Might be getting impatient at Leeds treading water in the c'ship. Also a more likely signing since there hasn't been much talk about other clubs being interested (early days though).

- Naughton - spurs possibly looking to off load now Kyle Walker is finding form? Woudn't be too expensive, maybe £5/6 million if we are lucky? There will be competition though

Others

- Lindeergard [sp] totally agree we need a young keeper. Think you are just throwing this name out though randomly to get peoples opinions? No way anyone can really know how good he is so cant comment. Would question why any young keeper in the prem isnt already starting games for a club on loan or anything. Maybe look to europe, loads of young talent there in the GK department.

Also to add a couple more to your list, a great great great CM we have been linked with is Michu (Rayo Vallencano). Box to box mid would give us some central attacking intent (not just through the middle) and has goals in him. Buy out clause in his current contract (4 million). Little bit of interest in spain for him but think we could compete if we play our cards right.

Thoughts?
