Not a rumour but does anyone else think we will unveil a signing Saturday before the real sociedad game. COYR

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No, I don't think so. If we make a signing it'll probably be unveiled pretty quickly, not delayed for the sake of it. Otherwise you risk losing training time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Do we ever unveil signings before games? It's Usually through social media and the OS

Agree0 Disagree0

Your not listening you lot! we won't be signing any more players this year we have over spent already. how many more times. pointless keep talking about who we are going to sign. Grrrr

Agree0 Disagree0

The last one with a desk on the pitch was Rudi but I remember Papa Hesalwaysoffside Waigo being introduced and a video montage being played on the screens. But 'no', I doubt it, although hear we're in for someone from Juve on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

We havnt over spent at all, your talking guff. Just looking for the right players at the right price. If you think we won't sign anybody else this window then perhaps football isn't your strong point and that's putting it nicely.

Agree0 Disagree0

We'd spent £30million last season and just hit £20million this season with additional backing from the Leibherr's and the £60million league payout we have plenty left to spend. Also confirmed by Pochettino having more targets than just Wanyama having already signed Lovren he clearly still has money at his disposal. Don't be silly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes let's hope so!

I think it is very apparent to mp and his staff and nc that a couple more are needed. I wouldn't worry. There will be more additions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

QPR striker Loic Remy has joined Newcastle on a season-long, the Barclays Premier League side have confirmed.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 17:26:42
Saints looking at Remy from QPR? Its in today's Sun, so its obviously not true! LOL
Wouldnt mind if it was though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think I am going to start a petition to get Billy Sharp to stay at Southampton and try and present it to the Southampton Board as I think he deserves his chance in the Premier League who's up for it?

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesn't mean it's not! Mate anyway it's just what he needs?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well that was wrong. He is now on a season long loan at Newcastle.

Agree0 Disagree0

I said it was in the Sun, so it would be wrong!

Agree0 Disagree0

Badman saint, you need to face billy sharp wouldn't do anythong in the prem, he hasn't got pace or strength, he's just a fox in in the box, where in the prem you need to have something about yiur game

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you are well an truly wrong about Sharp he could well have a very big impact on the EPL and to be honest he deserves his chance for getting us into the premier league with them all important goals and to be honest I don't know why all the haters are so quick to judge that he ain't good enough qaulty striker quality guy with a shed load of passion for the club just look at that celebration against the SKUNTS!

Agree0 Disagree0

Le Fondre was just a fox in the box and he scored 12 in the prem last year for far less creative team, I'd also say Sharp has slightly more in his game than him

I trust the club to be working their socks off to do the necessary. They'll tell us when the business is done and dusted. And if they can't get the right person with the right deal, then so what - we're still moving in the right direction.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Great looks like Wigan are Emmanuel Mayuka?
That's what to do send him on loan because we've got loads of options up front? Wtf

Agree0 Disagree0

^^they may be interested in loaning him but that doesn't mean it is going to happen. Otherwise Messi would soon be coming to us (as i'm sure we would be interested).

Use a bit of logic mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Does anybody agree with me that it is the likes of Mark Lawrenson etc. that put players off coming to Southampton. Never got a good word to say about us. I am sure players we want are influenced by their pessimistic attitude to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think anyone takes Mark Lawrenson seriously - not even his mate Hansen

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah Lawro you mug! Do one. it's clearly all your fault!
ps please keep that bushy 'tache, it tickles

I come back from Holiday were I haven't access to the internet to see that Cardiff have signed Steven Caulker for 8m wtf! He should be a saints player for that amount, why the hell did we not go for him! We need to get a winger, striker and CB before the end of the window, for Wingers I've heard Scot Sinclair and Boubedouz being mentioned both would be quality signings, rumours for a striker have gone quiet really, I'd love someone like Damiao but I think he'll be sold after the world cup, so maybe someone like Jordan Rhodes or Callum Mcmanaman would be good and in defence I have no idea we just need anopther quality CB tbh

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Here we go again with the we've enough quailty up front rubbish!billy sharp great problem solved then!Guys you just don't get it we need cover if we get any injurys we will really struggle to get goals this season. Rickie is the only southampton player that got into double figures last season the rest are just not good enough not for this season anyway?

Agree0 Disagree0

Must have been on holiday a long while! You obviously missed Saints signing a CB who Caulker would have competed with?

How many times does it take for MP to say we are still looking to bring in players to cover certain positions for him to be believed? And if it doesn't happen instantly, it does not mean the club is not working to get the players they want, BUT Saints will not do a QPR panic job and sign players if they will not have the skills AND characters to integrate with the current squad.

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think I ever said we have enough quality up front, if you actually read it?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not saying let's sign terrible players as a solution I'm saying we need players in those positions and we should be finishing our transfer businness soon!

No one else is coming in and I'm sure I'm not the only supporter that feels that way!and with remy now looking that he off to Newcastle the options for a top goal scorer are looking thin on the ground. if Southampton think they are going to get a top ten Finnish without bring in some surpport up front they will be sadly mistaken!and I know its great to have a solid minefield and defence but it's goals that win games plain and simple! The celta Vigo game proves the point! We control the play make loads of chances but can't put the ball in the back of the net! 4-1 on pens even from the spot were struggling and please don't reply to this if your going to say what we've got is good enough! Their not! Not for a top 10 Finnish let alone top 6 Finnish and that's if we don't get any injurys we lose Rickie for any length of time and we would be in massive trouble?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Stuff remy give mayuka a chance
You sound like our lass moaning and bitching lol keep the faith I for 1 am looking forward to this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Look who took the penalties. i'm not saying we don't need strikers but if you look at took the penaltys I doubt even practise, however we do need a striker, unless mayuka steps up

Agree0 Disagree0

At last someone with some sence could not agree anymore strongly. we've wasted time going after big name players that do not want to play for us instead of going after relistic targets looks like we're out of time and protental targets.

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly you read too much into friendlies, when they play in front of a a full ground the players adrenalin will be pumping and the games will be very different, yes it is clear if we need anyone its a clinical goal scorer but I fully believe we will sign someone but it won't be till the end of the window as that is when most of the deals go through. You can't just say with 4 weeks of the window left we definitely aren't going to sign anyone else. That's silly! I also believe top ten is achieveable with this group of players. Another point I would like to make is the type of striker we need is a goal poacher who is in the right place at the right time. We have one now. Billy Sharp. Surprised MP didn't even decide to look at him in training seems odd to me

Saint IQ

Agree0 Disagree0

If you cut out all of the stupid mistakes made last season by Jos and Fox, we would have been around midtable. Now we have Shaw playing regularly, Boruc in goal and Loveren coming into centre back I think we can only get better. Yes we could do with a super striker, but I think we could push for top ten without one.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have some faith! We have made two great signings so far and until the club make an official announcement that we are done for this window there is the chance for more. let's not also forget the talent of youngsters coming through the ranks.

Its possible that we are done this window and I personally think its a wise thing to make the right signings at the right price rather than panic buy.

What happens if we don't get top 10? We have another crack next year!

Agree0 Disagree0

Top 10 finnish? Cool. I prefer Swedes or Norweigens personally. Sorry, cheap shot.
Anyway, seriously, don't panic. NC knows what he is doing. They say Daniel Levy is the prems toughest negotiator. BS, that mantle goes to The Don. If MP says he needs such and such a player you can be sure Cortese will do his best to get him the right player.

Saints are still in the market for a striker, Damiao, Remy, Sow and Osvaldo have all recently been linked. Wo would you prefer? For me it would have to be Damiao after watching him last night. He's the real deal!

Mini-Saint

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree go for Defoe

Agree0 Disagree0

Ex skate no thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

No but he's better than most of what we've got on par with Rickie would make a great partnership and the two of them would get double figures this season both were top English scorers last season!

Agree0 Disagree0

Their must be a reason Defoe is not always in England squad and rarely first choice for spurs with his scoring record
attitude problem anyone

Agree0 Disagree0

Defoe-netly would be a good signing. He scores goals and has been unlucky with a mixture of injury and competition. Your saying he has an attitude problem because he scores goals and doesn't regularly play for england - ermmm, does SRL fit this criteria? SRL has no attitude problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wages probably too high, will be on a lot more than anyone on our team are on currently

Agree0 Disagree0

No because he can score goals a bag full
but he is not first or second choice for spurs yet he was or is more prolific than wot they had
there must be a reason for that

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2013 09:32:41
We need a new striker in, what about Jermaine Defoe? Proven goalscorer time and time again and I think he'd be available at a good price.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Defoe is not that special, ageing a bit with constant injury problems. don't think he is an improvement on what we have got.

Agree0 Disagree0

You mean the Defoe who has just picked up ANOTHER injury in pre-season?

These posts are getting sillier.

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would be good, good player underated IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Wages probably too high, will be on a lot more than anyone on our team are on currently

So according to the newspapers we have lost out on our initial strikers we were after and are now looking at Loic Remy?
Chances are by the time this hits the rumour board he will have signed for Newcastle lol.
Hope it is untrue and we still have a chance of Damio.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Remy going to newcastle
would have been worth a go to get
him
scored a few goals for qpr last season
and they were struggling

Agree0 Disagree0

Shows just how little the media know about NC! So, he will bring in a player with a serious criminal charge hanging over him?

I can understand the media knowing nothing about Saints, but expected a bit more from our so called supporters.

If saints sign banega and damiao we we will in the mix for top 6 easy peasy lemon squeezy. Banega is the creative link between midfield and striker that we definitely need and damiao is just awesome and getting into space and hitting the back of the net.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Damiao's reputation and price tag far out ways his goal scoring record. Way too much money.
For me Banega is a far more valuable asset to the Saints team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks as if all the 'so called rumoured' names have fallen thru' and we're after Remy. bodes ill!
