Just a thought, and is only a theory, but how about doing a deal with Chelsea: Lukaku for Shaw but we give Chelsea £7m-£12m in return. This gives us, as many have seen, great goal scorer and it gives Matt Yargett, who by all accounts is nearly as good as shaw so is his successor a chance to prove himself day in day out in the first time.

It's a nice idea but pretty much untrue

I'm sorry, but Luke Shaw is worth at least as much as Lukaku! A young English talent who has proven to be up to it at this level is worth a hell of a lot and Chelsea have been looking at bids in excess of £25million which is what you would pay at most to take Lukaku.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a nice idea, it's a stupid idea, why would any Saints fan want to sell our best players. The current outfit is for stability and building on our successes not selling them

Makes no sense at all to sell Shaw at this stage. His value will only increase and with NC's ambition of Champions League, we'll need every position being taken up by world class players. Personally don't think we'll be CL for a while but won't ever lose hope for the future.
We're on to something good here and building nicely for the future so remaining patient and managing expectations is key otherwise we'll all get downbeat because we only just got into top 10!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lukaku is young too and he will only improve as much a Shaw. 2: We will be letting our best young player go but in exchange for one just as young and good, if better, in a position we need to improve. 3: Matt Targett will come into the team

Agree0 Disagree0

Amazing if we could get lukaku but feel he'd probably be bought outright by Everton

Agree0 Disagree0

But how good is Targett? what if he's a huge disappointment and we're left with him and Fox?

Agree0 Disagree0

Then we buy someone young and good like creswell from Ipswich. There was a lot of rumours about him joining in the summer last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

But then what's the point? why not just buy lukaku and keep shaw

I have to say if the offer in the papers is true than lambert will be leaving.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Let him go bring in Jordan Rhodes sell Hoiveld and Fox don't fit our philoshphy of young english talented players they are definitly not

Agree0 Disagree0

Let him go are you off your head?

Agree0 Disagree0

Our philosophy isn't to buy young English players it's to produce them and back them up with foreign talent, otherwise we wouldn't have bought in Boruc, Lovren, Wanyama, Ramirez or Osvaldo

Lambert won't be going anywhere, MP wants to keep him as he's a great role model to the youngsters and can still do a pretty decent job on the pitch, it's the same reason Kelvin is still here and has already been offered a coaching role for when he retires, i'm guessing Lambert will get the same treatment if he wants that

Agree0 Disagree0

It'd be silly to let Lambert leave, we have no need for taking the money and he is still a key part of our attacking line up especially following Osvaldo's suspension.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikeysfc-would the "offer" in the papers be reported by the London papers about a London club? And Chelsea will sign Luke (notice even the fee is the same-pretty original thinking LOL. )

Absolute fiction.

Why would Saints supporters have any belief in the papers? We have a pretty good example on our doorstep to show the nonsense they put out as "news".

Certain papers should make certain their t*ts stay on page 3 and keep them off the sports pages.

Would Rickie want to join a relegation fight when he is focusing on getting on a 'plane to Brazil?

Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Not true, even if we accepted an offer ricky would definitely reject them, as he stated a few years ago he wants to retire here and why he's playing well and scoring goals I don't see why not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Also we do buy in young english players, otherwise what are Clyne and J Rod doing here? If anything how well they've done in comparison our big (er) money foreign players should indicated we should be signing more young hungry english players, does it not?

Agree0 Disagree0

It must be a made up rumour because it would of happened by now it is to good a offer to turn down for both Lambert and for Saints.

Agree0 Disagree0

Judging by the matches we've played since he's been injured you can't say Wanyama hasn't been worth signing, he's the main reason for our defensive record. Boruc, everyone is begging for him to be back in the team. Lovren, the best 8 million we've spent? Osvaldo just scored the goal of the season, looked to be getting into the groove before xmas, Ramirez is the same, he's looking better and better every week and he's still only 22.

Yeah Clyne has done well (but is being made to look average by Chambers at present), and J-Rod is doing great this season, but like Osvaldo and Ramirez how many people were saying he was a waste of money and couldn't cut premiership football last season? To suggest that Wanyama, Boruc, Lovren haven't been as good as any other English signing we've made shows complete ignorance

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok, so we get rid of Lambert for £6-£10m. Who do we buy? We need someone that's played in the Premier League previously, since we need them to be up to speed.

Who is there?

Can't see it happening, since I don't think it's viable.
Yes we could replace him, but with Osvaldo still settling in, it would be extremely counter productive
