Whats up fellow saints supporters,

It looks like another close season of saints fc selling our prized players for below market value, ie clyne to liverpool £10 million plus £2.5 add ons, I mean what's going on, I know we paid only around £3. 5 for him but he has matured into the best right back in England, and an England International to boot must be worth £15/20 million at least, liverpool must think its christmas. Why are we so blasted weak when it comes to negotiating transfers they should name a price and stick to it, if liverpool don't want to pay then tough on them we shouldn't keep accommadating Liverpool FC tell Brenda that's the price put up or shut up
It seems the same thing is going to happen with spider tell LVG that its £30 million, if you want him pay the money or find someone else, its not rocket science.

just read that daniel Levy has flown to Madrid and spurs are close to capturing Toby for £11.5 million, a top class CB. Why hasen't Les Reed flown to Madrid weeks ago and shown AM that we want him and are prepared to match spurs offer or better it, Toby is a bargain at £11.5 and Levy knows it, its a shame some of our directors are not as ruthless as levy we might have been able to keep hold of some of our better players and been in a champions league spot this season I mean everyone and his dog new we were short of a striker last January and what did our esteemed transfer negotiater do i'l leave that spot blank because that's what he done NOTHING

Come on Les don't let Levy beat you to probably the best CB in the premier division PAY THE MONEY some times you got to be proactive and not reactive
show Toby you want him.

I know not all of you are going to agree with me, but I just wish our great club could show a bit of backbone and stand up for the paying supporters now and then, instead of cowering to the so called big clubs when they come knocking on the managers door. How on earth are we ever going to be able to compete with these clubs if year on year we sell them are best players. I think one of our directors stated that southampton fc will be in the champions league within 5 years. Well not if we have to start from scratch every season, as all our better players have been sold off each year

We won't spend the money, after the ramirez/osvaldo debacle board won't spend big, we may spend 8-10m but I think we should forget toby/austin/praet. We will struggle this year as the same as last yr our squad will be to small, the clyne sale is a joke esp considering palace will receive 20%, why do other teams have sell on clause but we don't ie bale, next summer will be the same for big vic 1yr left so we will barely break even on him, of course I don't want us to go gung ho but as stated above sometimes u need to spend money to make money, how much of a global brand will we be in europe/usa/canada/far east of we have poor season?? All that hard work of last year put to waste. Why don't we try to pinch players from rivals like what happens to us, how about 8m cheeky one for sigurdsson? Much rather spend that than on gradel, anyway onwards and upwards and praying we sign toby clasie austin kjaer

Clyne had a year left on his contract and was refusing to sign a new contract, the club were backed into a corner with his price, either let him go for as much as we could get now or have to let him go for nothing next year. Don't blame the board for this one, they done pretty much everything they could to get him to stay.

Schneiderlin is another difficult one, last year the club told him they needed him to stay and they'd let him go this year providing they had an acceptable bid, what an acceptable is though? No one knows. Players of a similar standard from Spain/Italy/wherever else regularly for less than £20 million, so is Schneiderlin really worth 30?

Why should Les Reed have to fly to Spain to get a deal done? It's not how things usually work, if it was he'd be spending the whole transfer budget flying to get deals done.

spurs have plenty of centre backs right now and most realistic spurs fans seem to think Levy has flown out to do a deal for an Athletico midfielder and that the papers are just adding 2 + 2 when it comes to Alderweireld

Lets be realistic about Alderweireld for a second, Yes, he's very good but he's not the best CB in the division (not when there are players like Zouma, Kompany, Terry etc. about). Much like Schneiderlin, his popularity has seemed to blind people into thinking he's the only good player in his position around, he's not, especially not for the quoted price we'd be paying for him

Everything I've heard (from reliable people) point to Alderwiereld being a Saints player soon.
Even Simon Peach (quite a few of his tweets have been right lately) posted that Athletico missed the deadline to cancel the buy out clause and they're resigned to losing him on the cheap.

BUT even he does go to Spurs it's not the end of the world because there are plenty of good centre backs around. I remember last summer, people were saying the exact same about Lovren, then Alderweireld came in and everyone was asking 'Lovren who?'. Maybe the same will happen this year?

After last summer and the season that followed I can't believe there are still some 'fans' who hold this opinion of the board. I'm almost surprised the phrase 'asset stripping' didn't make it into your post

I agree with Saintysaintsaint, shocked that people still have this opinion after last summer. We've signed 3 players before the start of the window, how's that not pro-active? And we did have a sell on fee with Bale but stupidly traded it for Tommy Forecast :/ otherwise we'd have netted nearly £20m!

Don't worry about it. Just some of the "can't do" brigade forgetting we are a "can do" club.
