Ed could you clear this up for me. Apparently feom an itk source a player had a medical today at southampton BUT will only sign if the deal for rojo doesn't take place. What I don't understand is would a player accept being a 2nd choice target surely its you either want me or not kinda deal?

Is this common?

Just seen that Legia might be out of the Champions league qualifying round, du to a player not being eligible to play - What does this mean for forster and van dijk?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He played for the last 2 mins would be harsh to dump Warsaw out.

I see UEFA are looking into the Celtic game after accusations that a Legia player was illegible to play for the game. If this turns true and Celtic manage to get through, would this impact the Forster deal? Or is there more to the story?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Was this due to not being able to read his name on the back of his shirt? Sorry couldn't resist it.

That celtic result will hopefully get you boys up and running again as they are bound to have to sell that gk and cb now.

My fingers are crossed for you as an Arsenal fan I know what its like to see your best players leave and not be replaced by players of the same quality so I understand how difficult this transfer window has been for Saint fans.

In the Koeman brothers you've get men that know the game inside out so take heart your premier league status is secure and while the rebuild will take time the money brought in will make Southampton FC a main stay in the premier league for years to come.

Good luck for the season, I hope you duff them vultures Liverpool and remember it could be worse, you could be Pompy

Peace lads

{Ed007's Note - You might have jumped the gun a bit. Legia Warsaw are being investigated for playing an ineligible player last night. Have you no sympathy for Celtic losing two of their best players and them not being replaced by quality?}

Oh really, I was unaware of that Ed, what would happen if it's proven that they played an ineligible player? Would it be a replay or would they just be kicked out?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed007, surely the money Celtic would take from Forster and Van Dijk would be spent on improvements for the squad? I know you aren't a fan of Craig Gordon but he is a good goalkeeper none the less.

It's not the end of the world for Celtic at this point in time, particularly with the investigation going on. Is there any more light to be shed on it or is it so far just they played an ineligible player and UEFA are deciding what to do?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi ed!
I posted before that you would think saints fans would be a bit more sympathetic seeing what's just happened with are club?
In future they should not moan if it happens again next year!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think it's fair to kick a team out for fielding an inelegible player for 2 minutes, hardly effected the game and especially at a 6-1 aggregate loss, doesn't seem fair really

Agree0 Disagree0

Honestly Ed, I didn't give it much thought. I feel for you mate but having a strong family connection to Rangers; As the Scottish would say

I 'couldntneighgivafah' about Celtic' :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Yet you're so concerned about Southampton, how sweet. I suppose you also think football club's shouldn't need to pay taxes or any their bills either ;)

Boom Boom Ed.

Billy Sharp is on the verge of joining Leeds United according to several reports. This is after his failure to impress Koeman in the pre-season so far. Shame really for Sharp but since our promotion things just haven't been working out for him at St Mary's.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He just isn't good enough sad but a fact of life

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he should have had his chance in his first season with us, as at 26 (then) he could've grown into our side or at least been a good option off the bench, good luck to him though, top bloke

apparently we have bid €17 mill for rojo
anyone else heard this?
surely this amount should be enough to snap him up

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I've also read that - I think the only reason it wouldn't be accepted is because the club who own him only actually own a 25% stake in the player (they won't see much of the money received) Hence they are holding out for the highest price, and also would assume will only sell if the other owning party push for it to happen.

I really wish people would stop laying into KL and the Board. even now when it is clear we are going to have a squad on a par or better than last season. I just hope tbat KL amd the Board don't read the stuff on here (or take it with a serious pinch of salt) as otherwise they might just think what an ungrateful bunch of fans maybe we'll see how they manage without us. SFC would not exist without KL and her family - never forget that. Cortese got too big for his boots and tried to do too much too fast, he seemed to think he owned the club. When he got put in his place he threw his toys out the pram and left (sound familiar - setting a precedent?). Stable, constant growth has to be the aim of a club like SFC until we can challenge the big boys for a Europe place (or perhaps pinch one thru the cups). Until then it will be tough losing players we develop but as long as we keep bringing more through we can only get stronger - this is what KL and the Board are doing - it is a longer term view. So give them a break. please.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree St. Psy

We have to realise that despite our wishes to be a huge club and play in the CL we are a long way off even with the players we had. We are replacing them and will be strong again this year after a few games to settle the team.

The media have well and truly poured petrol on the fire regarding the so called crisis at Saints but if you take time to reflect then look at Athletico Madrid, they won the league were minutes away from winning the CL and are losing players at a rapid rate of knots.

The players we have lost will look very average in the teams they have gone too (if they play) and history tells you that not many that leave us push on in their careers, only Bale and Shearer really shone.

Beattie, Crouch, Bridge, Oxo, Walcott, Surman, Oakley, Wallaces x2, Williams and that young CB Matt that went to Man City all dipped after leaving, big fish small pond to small fish big pond.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree St. Psy however we get hammered by the majority for having this opinion. Really annoys me when they liken KL and the Board to Rupert Lowe.

People will always moan. Fact of life. I admire their passion but not their logic. Liebherr and and Lowe are leagues if not worlds apart. In a strange sense though you have to thank Lowe for bringing Saints down so Liebherr could send them back up. Liebherr would not have come in had Lowe actually turned it around.

Sentiment aside, Liebherr has the money to back the club up. Now is the point that we are coming out of the club making £ms losses and so Liebherr is now hoping the club can sustain itself without further injection of funds. The new training ground should start paying back if the £90m generated has not already done so; depends how the funds are distributed as there are other debts. We are giving out honest valuations on deals and are negotiating hard to get the right people in. Pellè, Tadić and Bertrand have looked as new signings. Taïder comes with a reputation that should be good for Saints. Isgrove, McQueen, Reed, McCarthy and Targett have all looked good, if not great, in preseason as well. Ward-Prowse is coming along spectacularly. To top that off as well, Saints have not said their business has been concluded for this window. There is still activity yet to come. Also with the no 5 and 7 shirts not being filled I am sure they are being saved for particular reasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree, there is not a lot else the board can do or say to change the naysayers minds, proof of the pudding etc!
