Why does everyone assume we don't need strikers? there is nothing to say that sharp or lee wont be sold or loaned out. Lee could literally have been bought to up shirt sales in japan, pay him 15k a week and he will earn double that from merchandise in japan. haven't seen enough of him to prove he is prem quality so far. Same with sharp, everyone knew we were struggling for strikers in january and £1.8m to guarantee prem football isn't a big outlay, so he could just be loaned off and then sold, he is a very good championship player but is it too late to bring him up to the premiership? not wanting to be all doom and gloom but as NA and NC have proven in the past, we certainly don't know their plans and it is a possibility. just wondered what people thought of this.Juan Kerr

Lee was wanted by many other premiership sides but we got him that's why everyone was so shocked by NA/NC buying him as know one saw it coming, Sharp deserves a chance and will play better because its a challenge for any striker to get into the squad, this year to get a game they will have to up their game in order to play. I can see NA using Rickie Lambert along side Jay Rodriguez for the first game and then Lee and Sharp for the next and then mixing it back up to see who plays well together, and so on! this will take place during the Pre-season matches until NA finds out who he would like to play together for the first match against Man City. Don't forget our youth coming through i'm sure James Ward-Prowse would love to make his mark on the premier league this season with a few goals, So we have five strikers which are all good especially Rickie Lambert who is premier league quality as Alan Pardew wanted him at Newcastle but couldn't get him because he wanted to stay at Southampton. So overall we are safe in the front line of attack and mid-field now as we have Adam Lallana on the left Steve De Ridder on the right (expect him to play a big part next year as NA highly rates him) and Steven Davies in Mid, then In LB we will have Alexander Buttner, Fonte Cb, as for RB i'm not sure who will play there and as for the other CB i'm not sure either both those place are the areas most probably being look at now as well as a new GK. That's why we know we wont need another striker as we have five already and i think that is enough to make all those players challenge for a spot in the team each game! Plus we will have a strong squad if we fill these three areas soon quickly RB,CB and Gk! if we will them three areas are squad will be able to give anyone game next season and i reckon in the January transfer window we will sell some players and bring some players. That's what i'm expecting to happen next season.

All reasonable aside from De Ridder who will be a bit part player. Can be brilliant, but is also brilliant and turning himself inside out. JsyL

I don't agree on him being a bit part player he's are best Rw player if he shorts out his crosses and turn himself inside out trying to be to clever on the ball, if he sorts out those two things he will be a class act in the premier league. He's young as well and we all no that at Southampton players will improve more because of our coaching staff and the training ground we have! it think Steve is like 23? i can't remember but all he's going to do improve as a player. So i'm expecting him to play every game next season near enough unless Na decides to play Guly in sometimes, but again both those players know, (Steve and Guly) know that in order to get games they are going to have to play to the best of their ability so that again creates compation between players for that one spot in the squad they both want. i expect to see Guly play less games than Steve though... but what i didn't mention above was if we get another quality Rb Luke Shaw will have to play his best in order to get games as well, see what i mean Steve knows in order to make his dreams of playing for his country come true it can happen through saints but he has to make an impression in order to get games, so will play to the best he can.

If we do get buttner which looks very likely, where will he play LM or LB? or even fox on the wing? whats your thoughts ed.? CTheSCUM

Id hope lm and put Lallana in the middle but I'd still say we need a new lb for competition or replacement

Sarcasm is tough to master in text form {Ed001's Note - Southampton did ask the question, if he was available, but that is all and they will have asked about hundreds of players, as every club does every year. Oh, and I believe it was a loan move they asked about, not a permanent transfer.}

I dont know why people are gettin excited about the rumours of scott dann joining us, imo hes paony! especially what people talk about paying for him and im pretty sure NA and NC already have their target i personally think they'll be looking at european players possibly italian? Let me know your thoughts. joe

Personally never impressed me as a player, i would prefer a signing like, Tomas Sivok i know we wont get him but overall better player IMO, infact i'd rather sign aother striker instead HIM :L and we def don't need another striker

I wonder what Mr Hooper is thinking now? Playing in a 1 team league, 1 round of European football and great players joining the Saints squad for our push onto the next level. Enjoy your season Mr H.

I heard that west ham and saints were interested in Jamie Mackie (only runours) for £1m. Thoughts?? Personally I think £1m is a bargain and defiantely think we need a winger
