We could do a lot worse than signing Fabian Delph. He's really come on this season. If Spider or Cork were to go I'd take as a replacement

Not a transfer rumour as such, but related to transfers. In my humble view Saints do not need to sign anybody this summer. We need to RETAIN what we have. With the likes of Harrison Reed, Josh Debayo, Marcus Barnes, Will Wood and Kyle Clinton on the fringes, to me this means that the team will take care of itself over the few years or so as long as we don't sell.

We have the biggest clubs in England and some massive European clubs sniffing around our team; look back over the past 5 to 7 seasons at who we've sold. Keep hold of those players and these players who we have now and who are coming through now and think where we'll get to, but don't over commit in the transfer market and fill spaces that youth should fill.

Use any transfer funding to improve the contracts of those we must keep!

I see your point and completely agree if we have good enough youth players in the team by all means bring them up, but in positions like GK we don't have many prospect except Gazza who isn't ready yet and cody cropper who I haven't seen much of yet and with Davies set to retire soon I think it's a position we need to strengthen in. Also CB is a position we'll need someone a bit more experienced, don't get me wrong I'd love Stephens or Turnball to get a chance but only if their ready as if they come in and make a howler they'll damage their confidence. Up front we need someone more proven who will score goals at his level, Gallagher and Seager are the future of our attack I have no doubt, but bring in someone who can already score at this level to add competition to J Rod and Ricky, then when Ricky retires, which will probably be sadly in 3-4 years they'll be ready for sure! If there good enough bring them in but we need to improve the team in those 3 key position in my opinion

I think it shows how good Corky has been all season that he was 2nd in the away travel club's pick, 3rd in players player of the season and won presidential award, got to be worth a new contract and soon!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think he'll be offered one, it's just up to him whether he'll sign it or not. Taking in to account playing time etc. I would love to see him stay, second only to Spiderman last year for me as POTS, but would understand if he choose to leave.

Looks to me that us, Liverpool and Everton are showing the way in terms of bringing young players through and now suddenly I'm seeing other clubs do the same, Wickham at Sunderland, Wilson and Lawrence at Man U, Kane at Spurs, Woodrow at Fulham, Albrighton at Villa, good to see other are copying our example, maybe England will win a world cup, one day!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sorry couldn't let this one go - 'Showing the way'?! How arrogant can you get. As if Manchester United/Sunderland/Spurs/Villa/Fulham have glanced over at you and seen your revolutionary way of bringing through youth players. Honest to god it baffles me some of the personic self indulgent delusional tripe I see some of you come up with. To think the 'Class of 92' would never have existed without Southampton's infamous 'Class of 91'.

Agree0 Disagree0

Uhh sorry did you read what I said? I listed Everton and Liverpool in that to and said that all three leading the way in terms of player development, which you can tell by the amount of players in the England squad and of course other teams are looking at the way we bring through youth players, ever heard of Bale? The one that went for 80m? Him and many others have come through our academy so ofcourse other team will look at it, I'm not saying it's the reason they're playing their young player, but by Saints, Liverpool and Everton have all had fantastic seasons largely to do with the youth player we've brought through and if other teams see that it's working why wouldn't they give it a go? And it has worked for them as the players I listed have done well and I never mentioned a class of 92, so don't know what your smoking, probably an angry Utd fan being spiteful over your great season.

{Ed007's Note - You're having a laugh aren't you? Pick Liverpool's best starting XI and see how many of them were brought through their youth system. If you want to get picky about giving players a platform then that's a different situation altogether and Spurs deserve the credit for where Bale is.}

Steerling, Flanagan and Gerrard all from there academy, it obviously needs to be more than that in the future, what I meant was based on this season they have given players like Steerling and Flanagan a chance and both have done well, whilst Rodger could have easily have stuck with Coutihno and Enrique all the time, by doing this they are widening the pool of English players to pick from, Bale was just an example all I meant by that was we have reputation for developing young talent, so why wouldn't other clubs look at us and want to know how we do it. It was a meant to be a possible thing anyway that more young player are getting chances and doing well, it's a step in the right direction at least

When you look at saints, Swansea, everton and Liverpool who play an exciting style of football to watch, the old italian way defend and catch a team on the break nearly always pays off. Considering the bulk of the team were inherited from division 1 and the championship poch. And his backroom staff have. done a fantastic job taking the player to another level with high line football, it would be a tough job to better this season.

Is anybody else bored of this continuous Manchester United youth policy bandwagon. So a kid scores two on his debut against a very poor Hull side. Cleverly would not make our B team in league 5 whilst Welbeck flatters to deceive. Who else. 1992

Bale, Shearer, Le God, Theo, Ox, Shaw and Adam. The list goes on. That is a youth policy.

Lets smash em on Sunday. COYR.

I hope saints do beat man united but not to sure about manchesters b team comments who in saints team would get in the man. United team perhaps lallana maybe Lovrens believe me although only a place above saints they are light years ahead of saints so don't kid yourself

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Not sure I'm the utd ed and I reckon Cyne/Chamber, Lovren, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Lallana would all be in with a good shout of being regulars. Tho Lallana plays were Mata, Kagawa and Rooney plays so he might find it the hardest. Rafael when on form is brilliant but he's been shocking this season especially with injuries}

With all due respect Ed004, all saints fans know that Lallana 'plays on the left, he plays on the right'. He also plays in the middle and makes Messi look sh1te!

I've no doubt he could easily squeeze in somewhere - not that he's going anywhere

Agree0 Disagree0

Was going to say Man U aren't light years ahead of us and they're gunna be going through a tough transitional period next year as their going to have to replace key position like both CB's and CM's to avoid having another season like this one and I agree with the player Ed004 said would be in with a shout add J Rod and Cork to that list too though!

Adam Lallana, when asked on the awards night what Southampton means to him, said:

"It means the world to me, this club. I've been here since I was twelve. I'll always love the club, and I just want to keep progressing with the club. I just hope we can make strides forward in the summer and just keep going from step to stop and doing well. "

Sound like someone who wants to leave? I THINK NOT!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

At the end of the day these players want to achieve what they know they can and that's European football. When you look at the more experienced players in the squad, Lallana, Schneiderlin, Lovren, Cork, etc. they are ready for that stage. So that's why it's vitally important the club have a great summer and bring in further reinforcements otherwise you'd expect by the end of next season many of them will rethink their position at the club.
