This guy from Turkish club trabonzspor signing on loan at Celtic today, will no doubt fuel the rumours of Celtic striker Gary Hooper moving to Southampton.

Can't see Saints signing Hooper. He's playing today for Celtic :/

29 Jan 2012 10:33:57
Green jhedi, what a deluded mug you are.

If I was to give you 10-1 odds that Celtic & Rangers wont be in the top 2 of your league for the next ten years, would you bet a grand? - No, because your league is pathetic.

The Championship is a far better league. Probably the toughest league in the world as there are 15 or so teams that could end up being promoted. It's unpredictable, it's tough, it's interesting.

When saints get promoted, and it is WHEN, we certainly will not be relegation candidates. If you know anything about us, you'll know that we are building fast and efficiently. Like you said, we were in League 1 12 months ago. 12 months from now we could be mid table in the only football Premiership worth mentioning.

Not worried about Hooper one way or the other. For that sort of money, there are plenty of other forwards of his caliber or better. I'm pretty sure we can get someone else to clean Lambert's boots.

Your league is just like the other small nation leagues, food for the big fish of Spain and England.

28 Jan 2012 19:57:50
Southampton fans you are typical of English football fans in general , 12 months ago yous were in the 3rd tier of English football , Gary Hooper moved from Scunthorpe (2nd tier) to Celtic 18 months ago to play for a BIGGER club and win trophies and play in Europe every season , so can you tell me why he would want to swap all that to move to a 2nd tier club who may be lucky enough to get a season in the premiership , but will be relegation fodder who will win nothing , also Jos Hooiveld and Danny Fox (2 of your top players) are at Southampton because they were not good enough for Celtic , yous play in a league that has umpteen Celtic rejects playing starring roles at most clubs , so have a work with yourselves , Gary Hooper is playing with a HUGE club , winning trophies , playing in Europe , if he was 3rd rate he'd be playing for yous already .

28 Jan 2012 19:47:44
Saints no longer need a new striker, we have lambert, barnard, guly, connoly and lee, we should be trying to get a CB because fonte and hoiveld weren't playing today which is a worry

27 Jan 2012 19:37:01
Isn't it funny how the sweaty socks are all so concerned with what we are doing or saying. The 'massive' clubs in Glasgow, Scotland could be losing both of their star players to Championship clubs. Jelavic - WHU and Hooper to saints. I don't expect the deals to go through but the fact that they have to beat off the bids says it all about the deluded Whiskey breathed muppets.

27 Jan 2012 16:45:17
Where are these signings ? Sharp ? Hooper ?

27 Jan 2012 15:36:10
With man utd bringing back paul scholes and arsenal bringing back henry, just dreaming about the possiblity of southampton bringing matt le tissier out of retirement :D ..its been successful for scholes and henry , its our turn for some luck

26 Jan 2012 19:40:09
I see on main site that some Saints fans still think Hooper is coming (aparently he is looking at houses down your way)
Sorry but Hooper wants to win trophies and play in Europe. Also read that Southampton offered him £25k plus £35k if into EPL. That would break your wage structure, leave your team with lots of unhappy players and you would be going down same route as Leeds etc.. by offering more than you could afford big problems doing that.
At Celtic our scouts find young promising players and they start off on a modest wage, then once reaching an agreed target they are offered a much better contract. Hooper is in line for a £25k+ contract plus bonuses. Celtic's wage policy is well structured and affordable, can you say the same about Southamptons? Timalloy

The Sky commentator is telling us all of the Saints facts, wins, losses, draws etc etc, won 9 out of your last 11 home games, and then you boo your players off at half and full time, what a bunch of cry baby mardy arses you lot are. Just how ungrateful can you lot be to a team that has given you a couple of top seasons (so far), they have a little blip (come on City!) and you turn on them like that?.....YOU UNGRATEFUL GIMPS!!

23 Jan 2012 21:56:00

Hi guys
Celtic fan come in peace. Keep reading about you slagging off scottish league and standard. Makes me laugh lol. I see you are top of the league which makes you the best team so far (well done). But look at the facts how many Southampton players are proven International players? How many titles or medals have they won? We know the Scottish Premier league is not the best but that is down to money and a recession. You pick a talented player from anywhere in the world and he will know Celtic/Rangers will he have heard of Southampton. Have a bit of reality guys you are sponsored from s*y, that money will run out at some point then where will you all be with the amount of debt much bigger clubs than yours are in.

20 Jan 2012 14:41:04
Afternoon Saints fans, visiting Celtic supporter here been told to watch out for one of your lot called "maximus" as he baits all visiting fans, well Maximus "master baiter" how about this?
Southampton want our Hooper, why would he go to your club, even if you do get to EPL you will go straight down. Here at Celtic he can win trophies play in europe every year, play in front of 60,000 at Celtic Park and our world wide fan base is only beaten by Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man Utd etc.. even Liverpool, Arsenal etc do not have our fan base in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc...
As for Leicester? even £10m would not get him this window. We gave you Hooviveld be happy with him.
hail hail Timalloy {Ed001's Note - Maximus is not a Southampton fan at all, he supports Blackpool, you are barking up the wrong tree!}

Southampton Rumours

19 Jan 2012 19:23:32
Rickie Lambert subject to an enquiry from former boss Alan Pardew at Newcastle Utd who look set to lose Ba to PSG. Seems Mike Ashley will have more than enough income to temp Saints into agreeing a fee and the lure of a big pay day, and instant Premier league status for Lambert may be just what he needs to make a late dash for the Euro squad this summer.
Saints will use the extra funds to land Hooper, and Rhodes, all should be completed within the next week.

Haha!! I know the response Pardew will get from Cortese....starts with F and ends in off...lol.
I understand that part of the pay-off agreement Pardew had with Saints was that he was not to attempt to buy players from Southampton when he got back into management, and definately not any of those that Saints signed under his management....thats why he hasnt tried to buy Puncheon.

17 Jan 2012 11:20:16
what better way to show your intentions of winning the league than by signing a Japanese international, a Spanish U21 albeit on loan, and willing to smash our transfer record fee for a top drawer striker.

Gary hooper hasproven at championship level, under Adkins before that he is qCeltic that level, and has only grown at Celtic, now a proven SPL goal scorer.

Saints 1st offer was said to be around 3m, then upping to 4, which has now over double of what Celtic player for the hitman 2 years ago, to 6m. I see this as a take it or leave it offer from saints, because surely there's players of similar quality around for that price, with premier league experience.

Also Tadanari Lee should add that bit of quality too the side, and i have to be honest, i havn't seen much of Falque, but being young and Spanish, could posses that spark to get us over the finish line. COYR

16 Jan 2012 20:15:16
I reckon we'll sigh Spanish Under-21 star Yago Falqué on loan from Tottenham until the end of the season.......

16 Jan 2012 17:21:34
why dont we just try to sign maynard or sharpe? at least their proven to score in this league and half the rpice of hooper!

15 Jan 2012 00:54:54
This isn't a rumour, just my personal opinion but I think saints should try to sign Lewis mcgugan, he looked like forrests best player against us today. It's possible due to there struggling league position. I wouldn't mind Matty Phillips from Blackpool but that won't happen, I doubt the hooper deal as well!

A realistic saints fan

BHOYS HOLD OUT FOR ANOTHER MILLION FOR HOOPER - TO REGAIN SOME OF THE MONIES SPENT ON FOOD WHILST HE'S BEEN AT CELTIC

Adkins, your a great manager but, leave the tubby lad up there, u made Hooper and Lambert from lower league also rans into hot strikers, go get us a bargain again.......
and when ur done explain to Do Prado the concept of teamwork, positioning at set plays, marking, support/cover (angles of) etc, as when he's on the park, we're often playing with 10 men, yes he has silky skills but he aint 'Le
Tissier' we need 11 players mate.

Judging by Neil Lennons comments; Gary Hooper is a complete no go.
Not unless we want to pay a rediculously overinflated price

Luke Shaw will not be sold says Nigel Adkins

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins says highly-rated Academy defender Luke Shaw is definitely not for sale Despite having only been an unused substitute for the Saints first team, the England Under-17 full-back has been attracting plenty of attention. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have watched the 16-year-old, but Adkins say the club are not interested n selling"Luke Shaw is a big part of our future plans," he told BBC Radio Solent. In recent years the Saints have seen their prized assets leave to Premier League clubs with Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both joining Arsenal and Gareth Bale signing for Tottenham But Adkins says Shaw will not go the same way."We have got no intention believe you me of letting any of our young players move on," he continued"We want them in the first team in the Premier League playing for Southampton football club."

Southampton have had an appeal accepted for Japanese star Tadanari Lee. He will now finalise papers and return to Southampton from Japan. Unfourtunatley he will not be ready to feature in the game on Saturday. Nigel will now focus his attention to a winger (apparently from spurs), Gary Hooper and Sean St. Ledger.

Im getting fed up with the constant talk of adam lallana going to man utd , if this was the case then paul scholes wouldnt have come out of retirement.

If we get promoted this year, then i cant see any of the star players (lallana, lambert) leaving us. But i would love to see a promotion and huddersfield not to go up. (then we can approch them for rhodes) what a player !

Blackpool have failed in a bid to sign Jason Puncheon from Saints.

The Seasiders tabled an offer - reportedly £650,000 - for the winger, but had it rejected.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has long been an admirer of the player, having taken him on loan in the Premier League last season.

Adam Lallana to Man Utd.

SAF has kept his cards close to his chest regarding Saints latest wonderkid. Having scouted him for a couple of years now, he's about to make a move for an English player he feels is the closest long term prospect of filling the Paul Scholes slot.
Lallana who overcame a serious injury last year, has come back into the Southampton team and been the catalyst for their rise to the top of the Championship.
Lallana has been capped at every youth level for England and a senior call up is on the cards with Saints looking more than likely to gain promotion to the Premiership, and Fergie knows that to wait until the summer will see Lallana's value rise.
United want to pay around £5 million, but Saints are holding out for double that, and tentative discussions have been opened to see if a deal can be reached.*****

Although Saints have had a somewhat indifferent patch, they are still top of the league, so i would take a poor run of form now and still be top of the table. It wont be long untill thay snap out of it. Come on the Saints.. Few good signings should see us past the post.

03 Jan 2012 23:47:48
Nathaniel Clyne, Albert Adomah and Tadarina Lee would be quality sighings as i think they are all premiership players

03 Jan 2012 18:59:24
D'urso and his assistants needs shooting. A disgusting performance from them against that rabble down the road. With the goal and a stone-wall penalty we would have been 2-0 up before the Lambert incident, which in itself was very contentious. Lambert only pushed the defender off him as he was blatantly pulling him down right in front of the ref - coupled with the pen not given, it was obvious D'urso was not going to give us anything. How many times have we been robbed away from home because of shocking refereeing... I can think of a few.

03 Jan 2012 18:58:19
Ben Reeves has been promoted to the saints senior team.

03 Jan 2012 18:39:22
Tadarina Lee tweeted a picture of himself about to board a plane. Several people believe it is a done deal and we are now waiting on a work permit.

An interview with him in Korean was also translated and he said he looked forward to taking up the European challenge with us.

Will be a massive hit or miss signing I imagine, but will be good commercially.

If the form of January is the same as December Nicola will call in a board meeting to discuss Nigel Adkins future.
