Looks like Mopo is trying to steal the Sadio Mane deal from under are nose is this to get back at us because we would not let spider go???

Anticlapper

1.) I think there was interest from spurs and city before.

2.) Mane rumoured to be booked in for a medical at Spuds tomorrow. Who knows what's true anymore? We'll all find out in the next 24 hours, I guess.

3.) If we were to get Alderwield and Mane we would look very strong this season with a good amount of depth in most areas and some good quality players in the team, getting even more exciting now!

Brek Shea Latest To Be Linked With St Mary's Move?
Mmmmmmm! Loan sighning (AGAIN)!

Anticlapper

1.) If this is ambition of club forget it, championship level at best

2.) 29 Aug 2014 13:18:57
another big name signing by reed
forestsaint

3.) It's such a comically pathetic rumour that it's almost bound to be true. Not even good enough for Stoke - 5 appearances in 2 years, spent much of last season on loan at Barnsley.

Makes perfect sense that Saints would view him as a quality addition to their "ambitious" squad.

Tick tock, Krueger, "judgement day" is fast approaching. The promise of a "stronger roster" is looking pretty hollow as things stand.

Keep raising those ticket prices while greatly reducing the quality of the product - that'll keep everyone happy, Ralph, I'm sure.

4.) If we are in for loans we should try welbeck. desperate times. this is what happens when a clueless clown called les reed sells players without having replacements lined up. worst manager in PL history running "everything football".
If this is is the best we can do I fear its going to be a very long lack lustre season.

5.) If they was going to leave cortese or no cortese why did they only leave after it was made clear wot the future holds.
I fully agree with u about cleverly though

6.) 29 Aug 2014 16:17:03
Doubt this is true - scaremongering at the most to watch your reply

7.) 29 Aug 2014 16:23:47
I love the way you judge the club on rumours . If it was down to you guys we wouldn't have anyone in charge. Stability is what is promised . Let's not do a Leeds shall we . COYR

8.) 29 Aug 2014 16:26:14
look on newsnow saints page

9.) Hope this is a wind up, surely Redmond or Sinclair are getable targets who will add to the squad.

10.) No doubt we will pay 10 million for him because the f***wits in charge at southampton are a true calamitous disgrace.

11.) Brek Shea, wow that one is from left field! I had him in my fantasy team, mainly because he was so cheap! this one is "thinking out of the box", why him? hmmmmm. A highly regarded young MLS player, He was drafted 2nd overall by FC Dallas in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, had several MOM and team of the week honors during his 2011 season, scoring 11 in 31 games. Full USA international ( Jürgen Klinsmann thinks he is good). Came to PL and done nothing to date. So, can we resurrect his career? a full USA intl that comes good would be a gold mine! the USA market is huge and must be in the forefront of Kreugers mind. He will be cheap and wages will be reasonable. Worth the gamble, if he becomes a star he will be worth 100x the fee. North Americans are getting all the pl soccer (i know its football to us). We have been attracting many admirers for our style and academy, new fans are looking for clubs to identify with. Manu are no longer a easy choice, and many like the underdogs with talent like SFC. This "out of the box" transfer may end up as a stoke of genius.

12.) So where was he at the WC

13.) Lets stop about & bring in Welbeck Townsend & Nastasic, we have the money & i'm sure loan deals can be arranged if permanent deals have to wait until the summer. Pay peanuts you get monkeys. . Tadier seams to have be a master stroke, he's homesick already & wants to go back to italy. . . Who the hell is brokering these deals. oh yes Les Reed! lol. . . COYR

14.) This is hardly desperate times, everyone needs to calm down -_-

15.) Joking obviously. No way could Southampton afford Welbeck, Natastic and Townsend, nor does the club have that sort of money

Jordy Clasie The midfield Maestro of Feyenoord
To fill the right side spot you heard it here first!!

Anticlapper

1.) What instead of Davis?

2.) We've actually heard it hundreds of times! I'd be very happy if its true but I can't see it.

3.) Classie in, remerez out, could happen

4.) I might have heard it first but is it true?

5.) If I remember rightly anti has been right in the past. Would be overjoyed if it is true but. Just. can't see it

6.) I've seen clasie play and he is a good player. but not gaston level. I know I sound a nob but why haven't. Real Madrid, barcalona, bayern, looked into buying him it's not like they can't afford him. And he played in the world. Cup

7.) He's a CM not a winger, wouldn't need him unless Morgan or Cork go, which Koeman said they aren't

8.) Clasie is primarily a holding midfielder, if he was going to come it would have already happened

9.) He's not a player we need to be honest, top player though

10.) When watching him he seems very similar to whiltshire and even though he might play holding mid but is actually a creative mid who travels well with ball at his feet and one two touch passes have u seen how little he is totally different to a cork or wanyama

11.) Clasie has signed an extension at Feyenoord - so that's another dead end

12.) 29 Aug 2014 19:22:29
just another one not coming to saints
forestsaimnt

13.) This is not the first time I have heard this, but I'm getting a bit bored of hearing stuff, I really want to SEE these things happen! We have "heard" of loads of players coming in and SEEN loads leave.

Sevilla In Advanced Talks With Southampton Over Gaston Ramirez Loan? Mmmmmmmmm!

Anticlapper

1.) I should hope not. the position we are in we need him to have a good season.

2.) Looks like it will happen!

3.) I hope not, would like to keep him at the club and give him a run of games this season, if he doesn't perform this year though I'd say that's his last chance over but I still think he could be amazing for us!

4.) So that'll be him and Osvaldo, bought at great expense, turned out to be total flops that they can't resell. Well played "transfer committee".

He always promises much, Ramirez, but has barely delivered anything in two years, is constantly picking up niggling injuries or just plainly lacking in fitness, so Saints have a decision to make. If they loan him to Spain, say, and he has a good season, his flagging reputation as a bright young talent should be rebuilt a bit and they might well find a buyer as a result.

If they keep him and he has another hopelessly ineffective season, they'll struggle to offload him next summer, going into the final year of his contract, and could potentially end up taking a massive hit on the £12m they flushed down the drain on him.

I'd love him to make the grade at Saints - he has bags of ability. But I just don't see him and the PL as a good match. He's too slow and lazy. And injured. A lot.

That said, Saints are desperately weak in the attacking midfield/wing positions, so they'd be mad to let him go unless they've got one or two new options lined up.

5.) 27 Aug 2014 16:25:06
Could see this happening a mile off. Where would he fit into saints team? Spider, jwp, Davis, wanyama, cork all ahead of him in the pecking order.

6.) Completely different type of player to all of those. to let him go before we have another winger in would be madness. looks like we are set to miss out on alderweild. seems arsenal bound.

7.) Looks like we are building a strong solid side that struggle to score goals. sorry to state the obvious lads. we all know what sort of players are needed, let's hope they land some pace in the next few days. terry paine would do!

8.) How can we miss out on a player if we weren't necessarily going for him in the first place? No club official or ITK has yet to confirm if Alderweireld is a definite target. It's not worth jumping the gun on players who were never destined to come to the club anyway.

9.) Ramirez to Seville on a season loan with an option to buy for just 6m Euros.

Ouch.

10.) So Pelle has two games and people get on his back Ramirez has two bad seasons and people still think he has something to offer?

11.) For a player. No one really rated he has the same if not better assist and goal rate than lallana did for mins on the pitch he would be excellent if he had constant games. But the last two manager's didn't give him game time

12.) This would make no sense to me, we need depth so why would we give players away for free? If its his value saints are worried about, they could just play him!?

13.) @ Saint Gibbs, with a current formation of 4-3-3 ( haven't seen anything different yet apart from maybe 4-5-1)
We have 3 central midfield players. Jwp and Davis have both played in attacking positions ahead of ramirez. Usually wanyama davis spider, tadic jwp pelle. Cork, isgrove, taider, on bench. Taider has even had time in the development squad, something I believe ramirez hasn't.

Although I would have liked to see ramires in a wide position, I haven't seen him play in a saints or Uruguay shirt on the flanks. Obviously something is not quite right in training. Let's hope this signals a player incoming that koeman likes

14.) 28 Aug 2014 10:23:36
Seems that Cortese was throwing away somebody else's money like confetti so no wonder it had to be stopped. Gaston Ramirez to me is a potentially great player with skills to burn but unfortunately our style of play doesn't suit these skills. I don't see the reason why we should get rid of him as to me he is or (could be if given a proper run in the side) a " game changer " which let's face it teams need when Plan A is not working. We saw a glimpse the other night that he could be good for Pelle as Gaston reads the game better than most. I think we have a team at the moment with a lot of huff and puff but if we want to get to the top of this very high quality league you have to have players like GR in your squad at least and change your style to suit certain games. I personally will be upset if we let him go. I am sure if the club move him on he would show his skills to his new club and we as fans will be left wondering why when we have paid out stupid money for Shane Long. I know Long is a good player and will give us a different option but there is no substitute for skill and if coached properly Gaston can and probably will turn out to be the player most of us fans believe he is. He is very professional and let's face it he didn't jump on the exodus bus with the other prima donnas. Might be that he was on more money than them and that may have sparked the problem with the others wanting at least the same. GR was signed by Cortese and he gave him the contract and that is not Gaston's problem it is the clubs. Finally we must not sell our best players and he is one of them.

15.) I don't think we have seen anywhere near enough of him to call him one of our best players. cortese couldn't have been throwing the money around that much! last year did we not post a debt of 27m nearly all of which was oustanding transfer payments? that's perfectly normal and for the PL very respectable. the press made a big deal out of us being 27m in debt and needing to sell shaw as a result. correct me if i'm wrong. I won't cry and dislike all future posts.

16.) Throwing money around like confetti, but we can pay 12m for long. I think cortese would have run a better ship than les reed any day

17.) 28 Aug 2014 12:43:03
Perhaps Gaston will be moved out to allow another player to be brought in who can play wide or in the hole eg. Cerci? We obviously need a player who can play that role but Gaston really has not shown he can do that on a regular basis.
But then, I'm only giving the half full suggestion and the majority probably still want to stay with the half empty philosophy. If so fine, but please stop comparing Gaston and Shane-they are completely different players and there is no way Shane was bought to replace Gaston.

18.) Who compared shane to gaston?? since 2 people disagree about the 27m debt would you like to correct me? the point about long was regarding the cortese throwing money around like confetti.

19.) Ok so I have spoke to mr heinz.

20m appx left in outstanding transfers.

7.1m net loss for our first season back, last season won't be totalled till march. It will however definitely be a positve figure.

30m was the original marchwood training ground cost but it came in over 50m which is the major reason for the relationship break down with cortese. which is the contractors fault.

KL and Ralph are balancing the books which is why sales were permitted.

they kept quiet about the amount of debt run up from marchwood and justifying cortese being made to walk because of the level of debt to ensure we got the best prices for our players and not appear in desperate need of selling.

MoPo was informed players would be sold to balance and stabilise. He was not happy and wanted to stay with the squad but after finding out their intentions decided to walk.

All in all I don't think anyone can really be blamed for the over run of marchwood other than the contractor.

Nor can I now really blame KL for wanting to balance everything. Little did I know we were close to 100m in the red.

We are in talks with Celtic again for van dijk for a fee of around 8m.

20.) The only reason I compared long to ramirez. Is the price we paid is the same but in my view long ain't worth wot gaston is yet were sending him out on lone with option to buy for 6mil and I wonder why Madrid won't gaston and not long?

21.) 28 Aug 2014 15:31:23
If you take a look through this section or the banter section you will see a number of comments regarding Long V Ramirez.

Anyway, RoKo has said Gaston will stay. If he does and shows consistent performance, that's great, but I have my doubts.

22.) The fee to buy is a reported measly £4.8m!! italian league players very very rarely cut it in the prem!

23.) If he goes there ain't nothing we as fans can do.
But I see a post above saying wanyama jwp and Davis are ahead of him but in truth why. Why would u put wanyama and jwp ahead of him Davis Yeh cause he always gives a good effort but at this moment I would not put wanyama and jwp in the attack part of our midfield. They don't have the same pace or movement or attacking flair

24.) And sorry for going on but I can clearly remember when we first got gaston. Adkins said that in training gaston was doing remarkable things and that was while lallana was there and I also heard that lallana and Co wasn't happy. A new threat was about shows how confident last lot of hero's were they struggled to welcome new class players oh wait a minute if gaston plays well there ain't a need for lallana we best make it hard for him to fit in

25.) The only thing that matters is he isn't a managers favourite. They see him train every day, none of us do.

26.) Koemen himself said gaston has had a difficult preseason so hasn't had a proper chance to show what he offers and last season was the same he was clean through on goal and got fouled from behind by wes brown and ref only give a yellow then lovren fell over kicked out and injured himself

27.) They also see jack cork train every day. yet when he is on the pitch he never puts a foot wrong.

28.) 29 Aug 2014 01:52:41
For the love of god would you fans please take in the following: Building projects are governed by CONTRACTS which have clauses in them guaranteeing price, stage payments and penalties for late delivery.Stop trying to maintain that the ground was over budget, that somehow Cortese allowed the project price to nearly double ITS ALL A LOAD OF BULL.

29.) 29 Aug 2014 19:01:52
montecristosaint-what a load of BS!

The development at Staplewood obviously had a budget set when it was planned BUT along the way there were many adjustments to the initial plans and of course the initial budget and contract was then varied. This was not all due to NC, I understand KL also had an input to INCREASE the scope of the facilities-and therefore the cost. I suspect NC is correct in saying expenditure did not exceed the budget but this did NOT refer to the starting budget.
Always happens with such developments so we should not be surprised, but the final development is much different and better than initially planned so any initial contracts would simply be up-dated.

Dear southampton echo
I've sent this letter to southampton fc in connection with benali's big run
Can you help to drum up some interest the amount raised so far is embarrassing!
Maybe do an article and get more fans to do the same as I have and put some Pressure on the footballing community
Dear southampton fc
I've i've written to you already concerning Francis benali big run this seems that there's not enough effort being made by the club and by the football community to raise this million pounds that he's trying to raise there is nowhere near enough coverage or publicity surrounding this Event? this is a gargantuan effort from Francis I think it would be a great gesture that the gate money or at least part of it! on Saturday should be donated to cancer research appeal
Kind regards
Gary Byres
I've also Written into the sky sports editor and the southampton echo.
Together we can make a difference
Feel free to cut and paste this letter and add your own name and send it

{Ed001's Note - the man is doing something incredible, I am surprised it hasn't got a lot more coverage.}

1.) 10 Sep 2014 09:14:08
Totally agree on a bye note what's happening with florin gardos

2.) FYI - there should be some Sky Sport coverage later today and hopefully some additional article from a well known website too.

Considering he is nearly running the equivalent of two marathons a day, consecutively for three weeks is INSANE. 1000 miles. Even crazier when you consider the lack of coverage.

For anyone who hasn't donated please do. Fran and Cancer Research deserve it.

3.) Nice one guys looks like it's working keep it up!
Announced today Ralph Krueger to join Francis on last part of run let's see if the offer part or if not all Saturday's gate!

Think we are now looking very strong and think we will shake this league to its foundations and turn a few heads to the point of wiplash!!
I for one will reval in are smugness as one by one the lame stream media papers and pundits come to realise we have not only survived the so called mass exodus but improved immensely and ready to shake there big club Monopoly by its short and curlys!
Never forget this is Southampton and we are the saints!!!!!
BRING IT!

Im reveling in smugness at this post! Wasnt it only a couple of weeks ago you posted 'If your girlfriend kept stabbing you in the back no matter how much you loved her you would eventually have to leave her! Point being southampton supporters can only be expected to put up with so much!'? Some fans can be fickle eh, Anti?

2.) God how sad are you going though people's old posts just so you can feel good about yourself! It was a stressful time! I'm sure there was a lot of people feeling the same way? And now we've got to put up with the happy clapping I told you so gang? We were wrong an that's a good thing but no one needs it shoved done there throats!!! It was about what's best for the club and it always was! It's not a sin to question things if they don't seem right??

3.) Alot of people kept the faith though anti ;)

4.) 06 Sep 2014 09:19:25
Anticlapper don't think it's sad somebody found you out with looking through old posts. I think it is sad that you don't accept that you can't post the kind of two faced crap like you have and not be criticised. If you like I could embarrass you by quoting another couple of board and owner back stabbing comments you mad but I am not that fickle. Best to remember what you have posted previously before knocking one of our REAL supporters.

1.) Mmm, so much for the excellent scouting system and the board knowing what they're doing - this is laughable it really is, where are the marquee signings?

2.) I know all them c. v s sat on there desk wanting to join and all them scouts out there scouring the markets LOL wot will he come out with next

3.) 30 Aug 2014 10:31:12
It's people like you Mikeysfc that we don't need, you're not a football supporter. All this knowledge about what's going on at the club I must agree frustrates you. Only problem is you have no idea what is happening and just aimlessly make stupid made up statements concocted in your deluded mind. I really think you are supporting ( and I use that word very loosely )the wrong club. You would be better off moving to Shepherds Bush and giving Harry all your knowledge, he's stupid enough to listen.

4.) It was a wierd signing anyway, as didn't really need a player in CM, as out of all our positions it's the best covered, gives Harry Reed more first team opportunities too, so I don't think it's too bad too be honest
