Not going to make it up and guess about Scott Sinclair as i'm not sure as to how serious the interest is. but we are definitely interested in Goran Cvijanović of Maribor. Scouts out there now watching him. 26 year old from Slovenia.
Not sure how much he would improve the squad, but in MoPo and NC we trust!

Saint AC

1.) I've been looking at the odds for Scott Sinclair to us on and its gone done from 18/1 to 7/2. Not saying it means anything just thought I'd mention it.

2.) Adding Scott Sinclair would give us the additional pace we need out on the wing if MP wants to change the formation. Think he would be an excellent signing for us. Never thought Puncheon was the right man for the job to take us to the next level. Good for where we were but not good enough for top ten and better. Loving he way way NC is getting his targets and think there will be a few top end Prem managers worried about playing us now!

3.) I'm not saying we're not after this Cvijanovic, because I have no idea, but I do imagine that Saints' scouts watch a lot of players--some of them probably multiple times. They wouldn't really be doing their job otherwise. I'd be surprised if we develop a serious interest in even a tenth of the players the scouts probably keep tabs on.

4.) Not being the most amazing person when it comes to knowing different players. What do people think Sinclair could bring to us? Would he be as good as what we have

5.) Ever Banega has been 5/6 at the bookies for weeks now. Still think if we are gong to sign anybody else it will be him.

6.) There's varied reports on whether we are buying or loaning him around the net, so it could point to another lengthy negotiation. possibly up until deadline day if there's any truth in our interest. He does inject the same quality of Lallana. if not just slightly more consistently and we certainly have the upper hand in attracting him to the club because he'll get plenty more starts then at City, and he'd certainly provide an added spark to our attack. Sign him up I say!

Did see below also the suggestion of Callum McManaman, looks a great player but I'm sure Wigan have set his valuation probably as high as we have for Luke Shaw. Definitely one to watch out for during the coming season though.

Saint Q

7.) BBC: Southampton will try to hijack Scott Sinclair’s move to West Brom after allowing Jason Puncheon to join Crystal Palace on a season’s loan.
Saints are ready to launch a £5million bid for Manchester City wide man Sinclair - whose brother Jake is a member of their Under-21 side.

8.) Scott Sinclair was told to leave by Manchester city 3 months after signing. Scott has already stated that he doesn't want to go on loan again as he has already gone on loan 7 times in his career. WBA are offering a loan deal with a view to buy maybe next season. We are going to offer £5 million ( which is most of the £6.2 million that man city paid ) if the negotiations between Sinclair and WBA fail. His brother is at southampton and we are offering a permanent move and not a loan which could persuade him to join us and not WBA. Also, odds have rapidly dropped from last night and we are now only 4/1 to sign him.

9.) Saintsfan25 - If man city accept our offer, Sinclair would join us over west brom in a heartbeat. why are you trying to put forward an argument. there is no reason for him not to!

10.) Although odds are often a good indicator of potential signings they need to be taken with a pinch of salt. This is because odds change due to betting trends, and as soon as it is reported in the paper (metro in this case I think!) money will have been piled on and the odds shortened significantly. Now i'm not saying that he won't sign just that odds aren't always the most reliable source.

Spurs have said they want £6m for Jermaine Defoe. The prices flying around out there (22m damiao, 12-18m Osvaldo) I would snap there hands off at 6m for a proven PL striker! Thoughts?

Saint AC

1.) Too old.

2.) No point going for Defoe, think we can get younger fresher talent for that much. Plus Defoe has high wage demands.

3.) Yeh, Agree. The sort of player we should be going for this year or darren Bent, Proven EPL players which will improve us for the up-coming season. let's not try running before we can walk in this league!

4.) Defoe. Proven goal scorer at the premier league level but not a target lone striker. Not sure he would be any better then mayuka.

5.) Fine if you want to be no better than Spurs.
And for me, for every goal Defoe scores there are two more his team could have scored if he wasn't so greedy

6.) I understand where people are coming from with regards to Defoe, or Bent. However are they better than we already have. Both players come with large wage packets, and I doubt either are particularly hungry.

Surely we are building a team for the future. A team that is based on having a stable team, fully of hungry young players.

I don't think that we'll panic buy. Cortese is far to shrewd for that. We'll pick the targets, and if we get them great; if not move on to the next.

Like everyone else, I'd like to see us bring in a new striker, and possible another CAM with the ability to pick out a pass, but I'd also be content with what we've got, if we don't manage to bring in our intended targets.

7.) What do you mean by fine if you want to be no better than spurs? Spurs are a top team where we can only hope to be. Go back to bed little boy and stop playing with the grown ups

8.) We need a player of lamberts mould to suit our playing style. Hence being linked with the likes of damiao and osvaldo.

9.) He's not the player that is going to run around the pitch to work as a team. Yes Lambert may lack pace, hover he does close down, but has additional defending attributes when it comes to corners and free kicks. But we need to defend from the front as one.

10.) Defoe greedy? can't agree with that. Great player with a great attitude. Would be a much better option than the mercenaries we could end up with.

11.) Defoe not a mercenary? He went to play for Pompey for a love of the game did he?
And as for Spurs, they couldn't even make up their own song so nicked ours.
Their success is also all being built on the back of one Saints player who wants to join Madrid. So follow in the footsteps of Spurs? No thanks, it seems to be them that needs us.
Defoe, good finisher, nothing else. Without Bale, he'd have struggled the past two seasons. Too predictable

12.) Defoe is not the right way for us. We already have the best English goalscoring striker in our team. We need other ways to develop the team now.

13.) Were not better than Spurs. Realism! Yet!

14.) Defoe isn't a mercenary. You can tell when he is interviewed that he just loves playing. Strange comment 'He is a good finisher and nothing else'. I thought anyone who watches on a regular basis would say that finishing is our achilles heel!

15.) The people who say they don't want Defoe are the same people that want Sharp in the first team! Defoe is a proven goalscorer, I would take him any day.

16.) Ex pompy player. no thanks

17.) ^^ Errr, no we aren't the same people who want Sharp in the first team. Just because we don't rate Defoe, doesn't mean you can speak for us on every other subject.

18.) We lost and drew to Spurs last season for one reason only. Gareth Bale. Take him out of the equation and there isn't now much between us

Tom Ince is in talks with an "unnamed Premier League side" over a loan deal. Anyone else think this may be us with an option to buy if he impresses?

Mainly the "unnamed club" bit that makes me think it may be us as we know how we like to keep things as quite as possible. Personally i'd be very keen to see him at Saints

Saint AC

1.) Think the club involved is Swansea unfortunately

2.) Swansea, I believe. Don't know why Saints aren't having a look at Ince as he's available on loan and out of contract in the summer. Talk about win-win: they get to try before they buy (or not), and he's another young, hungry, English player - and on that can fill Ramirez' role in the squad now he's out for two months.

{Ed001's Note - he has shown a few attitude problems since working with his father for the last few months. Apparently he has his head in the clouds now, as his father has spent the entire time telling him how wonderful he is. That is why he is being let go, when Oyston is normally awkward about this kind of thing. They want rid as he is a pain in the rectum.}

3.) Seems a bit unprofessional of him and his dad really. Shame to see that sort of thing happen.

{Ed001's Note - unfortunately, his father is so far up his own backside, professionalism goes right out the window. I had the misfortune to deal with him a number of times, I can honestly say I have never disliked anyone quite as much as him.}

4.) Ed, sorry but aren't your comments a bit unprofessional, even if true they are a poor example to the other posters on here? Suppose this won't see the light of day now

{Ed001's Note - what on earth are you on about? Is this just a pointless whinge for the sake of it? Are you paying for this site? No, so why on earth do you expect professionalism? It was an opinion, if you don't like it, don't go on websites with opinions.}

5.) Thanks for the heads up, Ed. What a shame if Ince Jr's promising career gets derailed by the King of Big Time Charlie-ism, Ince Sr.

{Ed001's Note - it is a shame, but it must be remembered that he left Liverpool initially because he was struggling to hold down a place in the reserves, let alone the first team. So he isn't that special anyway.}

6.) My friend played for Notts County when Ince was there. He said he was a t**t. couldn't stand him.

7.) Hi Ed Have to say i'm to enamoured about the antics, over the years, of Ince Senior but i'd be happy to give Ince Junior the chance to kick the traces (without Dad in tow)

{Ed001's Note - get him a job elsewhere, far away from Southampton then, because otherwise he will be there all the time meddling.}

8.) I think it's safe to say Ed doesn't like the "guvener much"

I must be the only one not bothered by this. He is obvioulsly wouldn't be our first choice but he is FREE and as squad players go we could do a lot worse!
People were calling for Billy Sharp/Tadanari Lee to be given chances when they were in a squad, IMO he is better than those two.
Get him and Mayuka as back up for Pelle and another top striker.

He also then went to Wolfsburg and won the league with them. That is an achievement. Koeman or McGath plus sides to both but I can't think of a single club where Mcgath hasn't ended up leaving on bad terms no matter how well he has done with that particular club, bit like Mourinho in that respect.

27 for Shaw. rejected.
25 for Lallana. rejected.
Last time I checked that worked out at over 50 already.
Judging by his intelligence he is more likely a skate

Older and falling away?. defoe is 2 years younger and is still quality. Still banging in goals last season when he was struggling with injuries and bale was refusing to pass him the ball!

Poppycock. Ba is the one leaving and mourinho will use lukaku regularly. Torres may go if rooney joins however

He is on £350,000 a week. Our top earner is "reportedly" Ramirez on £50,000.

I think losing £300k a week is more than a cut. Wont happen sadly.
