Forster to Celtic? . does Charlie Nicholas know something or is he just giving an opinion.

irw

1.) 16 Aug 2019 17:35:22
We can only hope.

2.) 19 Aug 2019 10:22:50
100% Forster is off to Celtic, Jack Stephens could apparently be off too.

I see the Daily Mail is saying Saints are monitoring the Fulham Goalkeeper Bettinelli. Why, when we have 3 already? I know we have to off-load Fraser but Gunn looks excellent. Are we thinking of selling McCarthy?

irw

1.) 19 Dec 2018 12:51:33
Can't understand their thinking if this is true. It's probably the only position that we're relatively ok with.

2.) 19 Dec 2018 15:05:56
If anything will be looking for a replacement for FF.

3.) 19 Dec 2018 18:25:53
Apparently there’s interest in McCarthy, so I guess Bettinelli would be coming in to compete with Gunn.

Agree that if McCarthy stays, I don’t see why we’d do this.

As good as AM has been, I definitely think he’s replaceable. If they think Gunn is ready to start, then it’d make sense to offload AM while his value is high.

4.) 19 Dec 2018 22:22:02
I would agree with you Saints123, but Bettinelli would probably cost us as much as we would get for McCarthy. We really need to stop selling unless we're offered stupid money. Surely it's better to try and keep a settled team/ squad.

5.) 21 Dec 2018 07:48:46
Stats can say what they want but I remember after AM replace FF he was actually saving less shots in target. I think a decent bid would see him out the door and Gunn become number 1 with FF it Lewis as back up.

The Echo has posted a rumour linking us to Van Gaal. surely not. I can't think of anyone less suited to our style.

Puell is negotiating his severance package - expect news this week.

13 Sep 2015 20:26:36
Reading Paper Talk on Sky Sports it says we are interested in 2 up-and-coming talents, Nishan Birkhart of FC Zurich and Raphael York of Sandviken. I have looked at sites for both teams and they certainly don't show on the first team lists. I take it that they must be youth players.anyone got any more info?

irw

1.) 13 Sep 2015 22:45:20
A quick internet search shows up Nishan Burkhart as a 15 year old striker, Swiss U15 international.

York Rafael is a 16 year old Swedish midfielder who apparently signed a three year contract at Sandviken this summer. Which doesn't mean Saints couldn't buy him, of course, but suggests he's not making plans to move at the moment.

2.) 14 Sep 2015 13:39:44
Having an interest in these two young lads is ok but what sort of message is that sending out to the academy lads some of whom have been with Saints for a long time.

3.) 14 Sep 2015 17:15:44
What message does it send out? Saints have been signing players from plenty of other clubs (Arsenal and Chelsea, to name a few - and I think they've added a kid from Man City this summer) for their academy, and will continue to cast the net far and wide to try and get the best crop of youngsters possible into the system.

The message it sends out is: business as usual. What's the problem?

4.) 14 Sep 2015 17:40:19
I quite agree. I wouldn't want to go the way of Chelsea and bring fewer British players through as that is what attracts them to come to he club. I suspect that the club will keep the right balance.

5.) 14 Sep 2015 18:42:29
What I'm trying to get across is it must be disheartening for a lad that's been with Saints working his socks off for years dreaming of one day getting into the first team then BANG. A couple more imports to get past. I know that teams have to cast their net wider these days but we have always been known for bringing on British talent.

6.) 15 Sep 2015 00:32:46
These are 15 and 16 year old kids. Saints add 15 and 16 year old kids to the youth squads every season. Nothing has changed. Sam Gallagher didn't join from Plymouth until he was 17. Was that disheartening for everyone? Was there another young striker already on Saints' books who saw some competition coming in and just gave up and joined the circus?

If any of these young lads can't cope with the idea of having to earn their places by being better than their peers, they're not going to make it anyway and are no real loss. That's the reality of it. English football mollycoddles its young talent more than enough as it is.

7.) 17 Sep 2015 00:23:51
Who would you rather have in your youth team and eventually the first team, someone who sulks and gets 'disheartened' at another player in their position being signed or someone who works twice as hard to prove they're better?

It has once again been mooted in the press that we are putting in £10 million bid for Charlie Austin. Apart from being a top striker he also has an annoying knack of scoring against us no matter who he has played for so it would be a double plus if we can get him.

irw

1.) 25 May 2015 12:25:22
after watching last nights match of the day , I have a feeling he's off to newcastle. alan shearer was talking about it , and seemed to slip up by mentioning him as a newcastle player , before stumbling over his words and changed what he was saying

2.) 25 May 2015 18:37:38
What about a bid for papiss cisse then

3.) 25 May 2015 18:59:09
Can't see anyone going to Newcastle until they have sorted a manager to

4.) 25 May 2015 19:50:25
Apparently AC and Fiorentina are interested in pelle perfect replacement I say

5.) 26 May 2015 21:29:43
All very well getting Austin, but he is rather injury prone.

6.) 27 May 2015 11:02:22
injury prone? are we still talking about austin?
he played 35 premiership games this season ,
31 season before , 37 season before that .
is this an injury prone player? wow , next youll say john terry has been injury prone this season

7.) 27 May 2015 18:44:40
I think he was referring to his knee
Believe it was same as jrod but not 100% certain but that was about 3 seasons ago and I think he would have got past that .

I see that the Mirror is linking Redcrap with Osvaldo who he says can kick-start their season. I hope it's true as they deserve each other.

If West Spam have signed LB Cresswell does that mean they have cooled on Kolo?

irw

1.) Nice hiked the price up from £3-4m to £9m, so I'd assume Wet Sham walked away.

Can't see them buying two LBs.

I agree with some of what you say but I think Forster has come on a lot. Djnenpo? I don't see it with him. Gives the ball away far too much, moves break down and we are in trouble. When was the last time he even looked like he could score a goal. We seriously need another good striker. I know Walcott will be just a signing on fee but if he is worth signing then why does Ralph keep pulling him off. see Djenepo, and Redmond for that matter.
We have some good players but not nearly enough.

I'm having trouble working out what has changed in the players minds in the last month. They were playing top 6 football at the close of last season and players like Stephens were putting in top rate performances. like that against Man City. The game is the same as are the personel yet the fizz has fizzled out.?

To be fair to Charlie Austin he has always been loyal to the club and hasn't looked for the injuries he's received. He has never been disrespectful of the club or fans and the fact that he is not top drawer as a player is just what it is. Considering he only cost us £4m and his wages are not exorbitant we might as well play him for another year and concentrate on getting rid of those who are basically useless, cause ripples are on massive wages.

I'd love to think Mitchell was being brought "home" and given the reigns but maybe that's a little optimistic.

Does anyone think he might get the best out of Carillio and Boufal?

He was always one of the first on the team sheet with the likes of Hughie Fisher. He was a greta club man who everyone respected.

I think that JWP and Armstrong are doing a good job in midfield. I think that JWP would get forward more if Romeo was not injured. We really miss his power in defending the midfield.

When I saw the team selection I immediately thought that Ralph was targeting the next 4 games, which are very winnable and writing this one off.

Agreed about the defence but the forwards just aren't firing. Not sure what's happened with Walcott but passing is off as is his shooting. I think fatigue is a factor and we do need to get players back to fitness.
One final question. why so many muscle problems?, and through training.

I hope Ings isn't on the end of one of Pickford's tackle or it could finish his career.
