Assuming theoretically, you could only keep 3 players from the current squad [including youth] who would you keep. The rest would be sold for market value. You would be able to keep these players for a guaranteed 3 years. Just interested to hear people's thoughts?

Yeah that's right . the bottom surviving team will receive more Money next year than chelsea received for winning the league last year, tv and prize money combined. Crazy New 3 year tv deal . Hopefully we will see majority of it back into the squad, but who knows.

This link explains the current deal quite well. New deal starts next season so figures will change.

Reed has clearly been told to focus on doing the simple things and not to overcomplicate his game by trying outrageous through balls or elaborate passes, just win possession and keep play moving, which he does excellently for someone so young. He has excellent composure and reading of the game, I genuinely believe that whoever mentioned he could be a future England player was entirely correct.

As for the other youngsters, Targett hasn't embarrassed himself, but hasn't shone as brightly as he was once touted. I think he is a perfectly adequate backup to Bertrand and with a few games this season he could push on. Ward Prowse hasn't developed as much as most expected (injury didn't help), but all the same a reasonable squad player. I think this season will be a make or break for him. Gallagher looked to have decent movement off the ball but lacked composure in front of goal, but that comes with match practise and confidence, if used this season he could be a half decent player, a season long loan to the Championship could be a good move, especially seeing as Koeman doesn't seem particularly fond of him. Hesketh looked a bit lightweight when I have seen him, again maybe a season long loan to see how he fairs in the rough and tumble of the Championship may be an idea. We also have Turnbull and Stephens who spent last year at Swindon, who got valuable game time and could be handy squad players.

If clubs are asking we pay the 8 - 10 million asking price for Marshall or Forster, why not look at Begovic, surely would cost about the same, yet with years of prem experience and still only 28 (I think)

Decent chance we will lose Morgan if MoPo goes, not a chance we will get Theo. Aside from the fact he would, as previous poster mentioned command 100k + a week, he is also a valuable Aresnal player, even if he does get injured all the time!

I know this is playing with 4 at the back which isn’t Hughes preferred formation from last season but I feel we are marginally stronger defensively this year and certainly at home we should be looking at a more attacking formation.

I will probably get slated for this but I don’t rate Cedric, he is average both defensively and offensively. I feel in the very least he needs some decent competition, hopefully Reed or Valery can step up.

I think if you play with 4 at the back Bertrand is a stronger choice for me than Targett. I feel Bertrand was one of our better players in a very underperforming team last season. He can only do so much on his own.

I don’t rate Hoedt, he is far too error prone, so he would be my 5th choice centre back.

I struggled between Lemina and Hojberg but went with the latter as I feel he is better defensively, which is more important when playing a back 4.

I think Gabbiadini will benefit playing off another striker, which I would say Austin is the starting choice for me. Although I feel this is another place that needs improvement. I’d have Long on the bench to bring on if we wanted more energy up front.

Sell:
Davis
Forster
Hoedt
Redmond

Loan:
McQueen
Gallagher

Ideal positions to strengthen:
Right Back
Striker
Possibly a pacey, skilful winger.

Tadic is a decent player and on his day a joy to watch. Over the last few seasons he has been our main attacking threat, however due to a lack of creativity, pace and any players to actually run at the opposition since Mane left, Tadic has been heavily marked and often expected to create something out of nothing. Mane could take 2-3 opposition players out of the game at any time with his pace and skill, leaving Tadic space and time to actually put his creativity to good use. His less impressive form has also coincided with the overall team performance, due to negative tactics, under performing players and poor player recruitment. He can be frustrating and inconsistent but I genuinely believe that in a good team he would thrive. Ajax will get a bargain for £15 million in the current market, in spite of the fact he is not far shy of 30.
As Rayzor mentioned above, Redmond has never lived up to the hype. He has the pace but very little else to his game that warrants a starting place in a premiership team.
Boufal is someone I’m genuinely gutted about, he has the potential to run opposition defences ragged but his work rate and attitude are questionable. He also seems to lack the ability to pass!
Carrillo hasn’t been given a fair chance, coming into the team when confidence was at its lowest and the team wasn’t performing as a whole. He has all the credentials to perform at this level and I would be interested to see how he gets on if given a fair chance. That being said, Hughes clearly didn’t rate him or he would have had a chance towards the back end of the season.
