What players does everybody think will be sold end of next season if not this transfer window?
I reckon VVD, Shane long, Harry reed, Bertrand, Forster maybe tadic.

mikeysfc

1.) 29 Jun 2016 15:23:41
I don't think that Shane Long will have another successful season, depends on how we perform this season. If we finish below 8th I can't see teams chasing after our players again.

Also, why are you already talking about next transfer window already?

2.) 29 Jun 2016 15:44:55
OMG!

We await a new manager who will bring a style of play which will be different to last season. He will bring in his own players and staff to achieve that. They will have next season to put it into practice and fine tune as needed.

How on earth can anyone, even Mystic Meg, predict who will leave next summer?

You might as well speculate about when the Martians will arrive.

3.) 29 Jun 2016 16:53:13
Re Martians just ask Dorset, he's in the know!

4.) 29 Jun 2016 16:53:26
Asking who will be sold at the end of next season?
most of the players you mention are on long term contracts. Harrison Reed will now hopefully get more game time. He is highly regarded in the game as one for the future. As for Long not having another successful season? why? he has improved his game no end.

I know England have created lots of doom and gloom, but let's not spread it to our team.
Next you'll be asking which one of our strikers will be taking corners next season ;-)
which one of our strikers will play in midfield :-)

Come on you Saints :-)

5.) 29 Jun 2016 17:45:57
Regards to transfers, I don't blame players for leaving anymore, I have accepted we are a stepping stone, we will find gems, polish them and sell them to the highest bidder, my concern comes when either the gems run out or other clubs decide to mine their own gems.

6.) 29 Jun 2016 19:47:32
Rayzer-I can see your point but I strongly suggest our "stepping stone" appearance is more of a means to an end. The club has to build, and it has done this employing a particular model. Looking forward, we are likely to change that model and the recent "flush" of players signing long term contracts indicates that is underway.
For quality players to stay for 4 or 5 years we need to be able to be competing at the highest levels and provide them with the rewards they feel they can expect. Honestly, we have not been in that position but we are now moving closer to it.

7.) 29 Jun 2016 21:51:11
Guys, please ignore Mikey. He's not a Saints fan. He has only ever posted negativity and doom posts. Check them out. I asked him yesterday to stop posting, but clearly he wants to continue with this tripe.

8.) 29 Jun 2016 23:46:47
I think there all off this summer
Apart from reed
Mikey is spot on.

18 Jun 2015 20:57:34
Can confirm spider has moved out of his ocean village home.

mikeysfc

1.) 19 Jun 2015 10:20:25
I've heard he's moving to London.

2.) 19 Jun 2015 10:25:11
I am moving house also, but not towards the Arsenal ground. let's just wait until the announcement is made - leaving a property doesn't yet mean leaving the team. Fingers crossed he is just upsizing in Southampton.

3.) 19 Jun 2015 10:44:52
Well unless he knows a firm bid is going to be placed by United or Arsenal, Schneiderlin is going to end up homeless come the start of the season! There doesn't seem to be any pace to this transfer ATM, but I suppose things can change at any day.

4.) 19 Jun 2015 12:54:01
He's been saying his goodbyes to friends in Southampton.
90% of football players only rent property's. A few players live closer to London due to the lifestyle differences

5.) 19 Jun 2015 18:49:20
Seems legit, has anyone noticed that cabaye is now 2/5 fav to come to the saints on ? I can't seem to find anything on the subject tho

6.) 19 Jun 2015 22:31:06
Morgan Schneiderlin has been a good servant and like it or not, he looks like being an ex-Saint. He deserves our respect, thanks and goodwill, tinged with sadness that he couldn't stay and try to push Saints to the next level, or a cup, maybe. I look forward to seeing who Ronald brings to St.Marys. Gueye looks tough.

7.) 20 Jun 2015 02:23:04
Yes Smock, I've seen that with Cabaye too, only downside is I seem to remember him being those exact same odds a couple of years ago to leave Newcastle for Monaco (?!) and actually suspended the betting at one stage, despite him not being linked to them either. so I'm not getting my hopes up.

8.) 21 Jun 2015 21:49:51
Spider publicly cried when he wasn't aloud to leave last season and has done nothing but make hints he's off every time he has had the chance. Only reason he played well this season was to make sure the other teams kept an interest in him and he looked professional to other clubs.

28 Jul 2014 22:27:31
Hi eds any word On the grapevine that saints might be put up for sale? Thanks mikeysfc.

mikeysfc

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't expect to hear anything myself on that kind of thing, sorry. That would be a totally different group of people from those I speak to involved in a sale.}

1.) 29 Jul 2014 09:00:46
So many questions. If there is a sale in the offing loads of people must be aware of it by now.
If Koeman knows something is going on why not walk now or is he waiting for the new owner to come in?
Someone mentioned why Reed would go along with it. pay which would mean he didn't have to work again?. no-one would employ him.
Is Mr. Cortese coming back under a new owner?
Are we just waiting for the club to sell Spider and J.Rod before the sell off?
The answers are out there so when will the truth emerge,,,,,and I've been one of the optimistic ones up to now.

2.) IRW, some interesting thoughts there, but could the overspending of Mr Cortese be behind the problems that we see now and the club is having to balance the books. What promises were made to MP and the players and not kept?

Something or someone has certainly stirred the pot that so many players have wanted to leave and interestingly all but 1 was involved in the World Cup. The odd one out, Chambers has been hunted by Arsenal for the past few months.

Now there are possibly 2 more leaving, 1 at the World Cup and the other would have been if it was not for injury.

There is more to this

3.) I have said all a long that it's ok saying 7 or so players were leaving, but without a reason why it's hard to accept. It looks like asset stripping with the view of selling up but why would KL attend games?
Is there really a long term plan? If there was it still doesn't make sense as selling ricky, lallana, shaw and lovren would have given us more than enough money to pay off debts and still have money left over for replacements.
Things don't add up and for all we know les reed could have his hands tied as well, and he might feel a fool for thinking saints were prepared to keep some top players.
I'm waiting till the season starts before making up my mind, but I supported saints under Lowe and I'm not just going to stop liking them. Talk of that is from fans jumping on board when we reached the premier league.

4.) We had 30m debt after cortese and that was due to staplewood. 30m debt is actually a very good figure in the premier league. United have over 300m debt. blaming cortese for the current boards bs. "we will keep our squad" - sells half. "the money will be re
-invested" - now they're saying the youth academy will fill in the gaps.

28 Jul 2014 18:06:21
I seriously can't see us wining many games next season going to be hard watching spurs and Liverpool doing well.

mikeysfc

1.) 28 Jul 2014 19:13:25
I keep on reading that we are victims of our success. I think we are the victims of liebherrs greed why won't she just take her money and f. k off. sell up to someone who cares before we join pompy

2.) I would like to be able to say something of use. I am just flabbergasted. If our Manager keeps us up then He has to be the best ever. Still worried he will go!
He must have known this was coming, if not, how can he stay. I am just lost for words, as I guess most of you are.
bless you all

3.) 28 Jul 2014 21:36:42
80 million plus in. 16 spent. Asset Stripping. If they expand the stadium fine. But will believe it when I see it. And will be pointless of we get relegated anyway!

4.) 28 Jul 2014 22:13:18
Over the last 32 years I have watched southampton sell to survive in the world of football
I was dismayed when Adkins was sacked and had never heard of ponchetio
To be honest let's look at the facts
the English football team was about as effective in the world cup as could be expected and although we finished the best we ever have in the premier league standings I was disappointed with the loyalty of the players we had. but at least they have shown their colours sooner rather than later!

the fact is we have managed to sell our over priced english contingent to the team that came second in the league. question why would the guys who came second want to boulster the team with 8th???
the fact that for the first time in my following of the saints we have the best part of £100 million to invest in players.
I am happy to see some very tallented players begin to land from other places and if our past ability to scout and buy great players is anything to go by I have the comfort in knowing we have replaced a manager who had a good season then jumped ship with one who has real footballing pedigree and handed him the money required to replace the over priced english pre-madonnas we sold. doesn't bode well for the national squad but hey I gave up on that team a long time ago!
we are linked with some real class and have the funds to pay for them for a change

lets give Koeman our support in building a team who wants to play in the red and white stripes and thank liverpool for providing us the opportunity to really build depth and further bring through the countless youth stars through buy paying well over the odds for ungrateful ex saints
if there is a higher footballing being we will smash the scallies in the first game of the season role on european football and a top 6 finish (fingers crossed we sign the dutch reserve/first team as its better than the english first team at liverpool right now! :P

5.) I am really struggling to agree with you. BUT, for the moment ok! We are still seeing slow, penny pinching, and consequently players are going elsewhere. I honestly don't rate our Buyers if that's what they are. Speed and urgency are needed once you have identified your target, we don't seem to understand the basics of buying. If I am wrong, then show me the replacements!!

08 Jul 2014 19:14:25
Ronald Koeman is looking to replace Rickie Lambert with Bayer Leverkusen's Heung-Min Son.

mikeysfc

1.) What's going on with Pelle. Was hoping he'd join the Saints?

2.) Great player and would open up good revenue streams for the club

3.) Don't think he will sign pelle as he played tonight and scored 2 for feyenoord and I've heard that a deal can't be agreed but have also heard about son who from what I have seen is class I wouldn't reject him

4.) 08 Jul 2014 22:24:28
Pelle only played the first 45 minutes.

5.) Well I think if he has scored 2 tonight for Feye he might be saying goodbye. He has to be worth a go.

Payet on loan

mikeysfc

1.) 21 Jan 2017 20:26:21
Nice though, love to see him to, but I somehow don't think it will happen

06 Jan 2017 07:18:17
I would rather it if saints would buy players they knew they could keep and we had a go at trying to be the best we can rather than just a cash cow club pretending to be ambitious.

mikeysfc

1.) 06 Jan 2017 09:34:00
How to you look into the future to find players that we could keep and that are good enough to help us be the best we can?

2.) 06 Jan 2017 11:47:41
Sorry I meant sign players we stand a better chance of keeping instead of just buying a player with making a profit first priority. A lot of fans are sick of it

3.) 06 Jan 2017 12:18:48
But then you would accuse of making crap signings and lacking ambition!? If we sign a player, and we do well, and certain players stand out, then they are going to get attention and be coveted by other teams. if you sign rubbish players that nobody else wants just so nobody buys them in a year then you end up getting relegated. with a crap team.

4.) 06 Jan 2017 12:27:51
All we need to do is to grow a backbone and tell players that you signed a contract for x amount of years so you will stay for that long and that's it so just get on with it it's not as if we pay them minimum wage is it. The trouble with football now is the AGENTS they are not content with 20% of wages they want the commition they get from BOTH sides if they engineer a transfer even if the player wasn't looking for a move they stir up unrest in the player and leak one sided untruths to the press they have ruined professional football

5.) 06 Jan 2017 12:33:20
We are. But it's now the clubs philosophy - sign under 25 year olds, players with a lot of potential. Grow them and sell them for a profit. I think it is out of control of the club to be honest. We've become a very attractive club to buy players from, due to the success of players we've previously sold. And you got to think from a new players perspective - a few good seasons at Southampton and you'll be tracked by bigger clubs.
One of the only ways around it would be to add massive release clauses on contracts. The only issue is that could cause tension with newer players. The transfer market is evolving and clubs are starting to spend whatever it takes to evolve their squad. Considering we haven't spent 20+mil on a single player yet suggests that we haven't caught up with modern football.
But yes the board seem to be only in it for the profit. There is no doubt about it. We've made a profit in the transfer market from the past 3 seasons. As well as growing so probably gaining more profit from TV Deals and bigger sponsorship.

6.) 06 Jan 2017 19:59:56
I have very nearly had enough of the way we are run and there philosophy I love the the Saints though and always will confused.com lol it's embarrassing watching all our ex players and managers playing for other clubs

28 Aug 2016 09:38:22
Wow yesterday was just another bog standard performance at home against crap opposition, we were lucky there keeper made a hash of jay rods goal, no positives for me yesterday really average hopefully will will beat arsenal away next week.

mikeysfc

19 Aug 2016 22:46:10
Average performance from an average team.

mikeysfc

1.) 20 Aug 2016 10:49:09
I know. 1st effort at home on 35 mins. Don't think they'll be title challengers.

28 Jun 2016 16:51:44
Why are some fans so obsessed to see Katrina make a profit when it doesn't benefit the saints one little bit just doesn't make sense at all?

mikeysfc

1.) 28 Jun 2016 17:19:57
Coz PC correctness messes with the brain.

2.) 28 Jun 2016 17:50:55
So. Consistently finishing higher in the league every season isn't of benifit to saints?

3.) 28 Jun 2016 19:03:38
Is 'PC correctness' political correctness squared or something to do with my computer? that's what's messing with my brain.

4.) 28 Jun 2016 19:23:00
Lol
Do I need to answer that.

5.) 28 Jun 2016 19:27:54
Only if you seize on the benifit
Get knocked out first or second game
Then we ain't gone no where.

6.) 29 Jun 2016 08:27:02
You didn't answer my question saintly sainty Saint I said why do you and others get a buzz from putting money into katrinas big fat pockets?

7.) 29 Jun 2016 09:45:12
Would you rather we get nothing in return for our key players leaving then?

8.) 29 Jun 2016 12:27:28
As long as kath Ralph and les get nothing
Would rather donate to the one down the road
Totton that is lol.

9.) 29 Jun 2016 13:53:40
What I'm trying to explain is why do some fans get a buzz from kathy making a profit, like you get people saying yes nice tidy profit when it has no benefit to us as a club, I could understand if say we sold a player for £30m then invested the whole 30 back into the club.
Some fans just make out that they are great business men expressing there delight that katrina no one else have made a tidy sum.
Doesn't make sense to me?
I couldn't care less if she made money or not,
But one thing is for sure she doesn't give us anything takes her cut which must be over 50%?

10.) 29 Jun 2016 14:59:46
To be fair to the kath
Ralph and les get a sorter
And all rich ex footballers get free season tickets
So after that and tax it is only 50 percent she takes

On a serious note I agree fully Mikey
Nowhere near what comes in goes back in
Debts just pop up every time
Funny thing is no other team has these debts
And no other team has sold so many first team players.

Le god didn't like having to pay for tickets lol even though he is a multi millionaire speaks volumes. Don't get me wrong he was a great player for saints and always has are back. arguably didn't move on to a bigger club because he didn't want to train hard . But don't take his word for golden just because he is a Saints legend.
