Hi guys.

I haven't been on for a while but I'm here to tell you to expect at least 1 more signing in the next week.

Jay Rod told me personally his move to WBA will be completed and announced by Monday.

Will let you know more when I do.

1.) 02 Jul 2017 12:52:56
My summer is complete.

2.) 02 Jul 2017 13:47:42
'av a chat to uncle dave, find out who's signing next week.

3.) 02 Jul 2017 22:43:38
As you probably know. KL has stepped down from the board. I knew this was going to happen months ago. I can't say too much but we're in for a busy summer lads.

4.) 02 Jul 2017 22:45:07
One more thing I can say, Dave Watson was approached to take charge of Oxford United. He rejected the interview.

5.) 04 Jul 2017 10:48:44
Welcome back Dorset . :-)

28 Aug 2016 22:02:32
So reports coming out saying Tadic and Puel have had a fallen out and Claude wanted to place him on the transfer list but the board intervened. Puel's position maybe under threat already apparently.

saintdorset

1.) 28 Aug 2016 22:54:19
How do you think up this ridiculous garbage . Amazing .

2.) 28 Aug 2016 22:57:02
So we spent all summer to secure out manager who has had 3 competitive games . Not great games but still only 3 and we are supposed to believe the board are fed up. I have been reading posts for years without comment and this one got my goat. Saints forever.

3.) 28 Aug 2016 23:31:49
No need to worry someone will always want to manage saints.

4.) 29 Aug 2016 00:04:24
good ol dorset. being dorset.

5.) 29 Aug 2016 05:44:40
Tadic said that he was very impressed after talking with Puel for the first time. Quickly things have changed then. 😈.

6.) 29 Aug 2016 08:39:09
Well done Dorset. Just when I thought you couldn't make yourself look anymore stupid! Probably not even a saints fan.

7.) 29 Aug 2016 05:09:06
I'm simply posting what I read. Not saying it's true, hence why I put according to reports. However I don't think Passionless Puel will last the season.

8.) 29 Aug 2016 09:55:17
What are we doing business 3 poor games into the season? Get the feeling this could be the season that finds us out. Sturbridge on loan? We desperately need a striker it's there for all to see. Charlie Austin on a break on Twitter not sure why he needs a break he didn't exactly put in a shift on Saturday- one of the worst performances I have ever seen.

9.) 29 Aug 2016 10:05:34
Saints 001. There isn't a great deal of that post that makes any sense.

10.) 29 Aug 2016 10:38:28
The points were why are we still doing business so we are going to buy players who are injured or not had a pre season with us so will need time to gel. time we haven't got after the first 3 performances

We are desperate for a striker it's plain to see so why haven't we bought one or Sturridge on loan?

Austin is on Twitter in the sun ona break after Saturday and his chance to shine (not taken) with a start the last thing he needs is a break he needs to either get fit or get match ready cause he was neither.
Hope this clarifies jamesaint.

11.) 29 Aug 2016 10:43:34
He fell out with Ronald Koeman and wanted to leave.
Koeman left, and Tadic signed new deal.

12.) 29 Aug 2016 11:23:36
IMO Saints0001 has a point here.
We are in need of a proven goal scorer, and that they realistically should have been bought in earlier

Hopefully we still will strengthen in this area before the summer transfer window closes.

13.) 29 Aug 2016 11:30:31
The "report" appeared on a site where people can make up their own rumors. Sara Davidson posted it on soccer-rumors. It seems some gullible people will believe anything they read.

14.) 29 Aug 2016 11:41:48
I am with Dorset on this One. The whole body language of the team (and Tadic in particular) has an air of disatisfaction with the set up and style of play we are employing.
I too do not believe Puel will last the season. I have a feeling we will have a new manager by the opening of the january window at the latest.
I am a diehard saints fan but cannot help feeling we are in for a long hard winter.
The board, in my opinion, have made a succesion of inspired decisions but I do not the the Puel is going to prove to One of them. don't get me wrong I am with Saints (and the board) all the way.

15.) 29 Aug 2016 12:26:01
Agree that Austin seemed to be out of sorts Saturday. But I'm confident that his good games will outnumber the bad ones. At the end of the season Puel will still be here- another thing I'm confident about. Apparently Boufal has signed and we are still looking to get another signing in .

Cross fingers that Rodrigues gets more game time and returns to the striker he was before that terrible injury. The reason we are still doing business in reply to Saints0001 is that the board and manager are doing there damnest to strengthen the squad for a busy season ahead. Hopefully Forster will start for England ahead of " pretty boy - I got no dandruff" Hart.

16.) 29 Aug 2016 13:20:13
I obviously want to be proved wrong, but I can't see it. As Abby said I think he will be gone by Jan. I think we need to splash out on a number 9 like Bony who would score 15 plus at a club like ours. Perhaps another midfielder to slot in next to Hojberg as I think Romeu is too hot and cold and Jordy is too lightweight.

17.) 29 Aug 2016 21:08:07
I agree with saintdorset regarding the next signings
We need to buy a proven goal scorer 15 - 20 goal a season to: push on, progress, march on, call it what you want
Also a commanding CDM and decent cover for CD
if VVD and Fonte get injured we've no EPL cover in the current squad

Hopefully there have been targets, enquiries and bids will be in place soon

As for Puel and how long his tenure will last, well that's a guessing game in itself, I have to say that I'm not over enthralled by him so far, but then again when RK started I wasn't (I'm not hard to please honest), he obviously needs time to prove himself.

18.) 29 Aug 2016 22:53:39
Weahgirl1if are business is determined by the "black box" we shouldn't be doing it now unless the black box says that is how it should be done. Any business that buys its staff in any other industry after 10 percent of the year nearly would b a laughing stock. Buy your targets before pre season and train with them in non essential scenarios. Then when the season starts and the pressure is on you know each other.

19.) 29 Aug 2016 23:19:31
Forster for England No 1, then he will be on next years wanted list by top clubs. Liverpool maybe. lol.

20.) 30 Aug 2016 21:29:14
Don't get it. Austin played ok. He is never gone a chase if ball doesn't arrive closer than five yards. He is not Long so we need to play a different ball. Sunderland had 1 shot on target and it was a penalty. We will develop. We will be fine. Wiltshire or Swienstiger will do plus Haller and one surprise will do us well tomorrow and then we can play and start winning games.

24 Jun 2016 22:35:10
Welcome to Southampton Football Club Mr Claude Puel. Briefly met him earlier today, seems a nice bloke to be fair. Although not my first choice appointment we have to get behind him. Has he worked with any real quality in the past he could bring in? This is a done deal from the horses mouth. Will be revealed hopefully before the end of the Euros.,

1.) 25 Jun 2016 08:15:52
Throw enough mud!

{Ed002's Note - He would be a very good choice - and will be popular at the club.}

2.) 25 Jun 2016 08:34:30
I heard from a very close friend who interviews people that it's going to be lee Johnson of Bristol city, bet you didn't see that one coming . Fits the bill, cheap, young and keen on building a lasting legacy.

3.) 25 Jun 2016 11:12:54
I heard we were after 'Fabri Cate', the current national coach of Cuckooland.

4.) 25 Jun 2016 15:08:43
I heard it 'Don Quay'he only wants 6 bags of carrots a week.

5.) 26 Jun 2016 11:00:28
Liking your style Pony :)

19 Jun 2016 23:46:57
We've just spoke to Walter Zenga.

saintdorset

1.) 20 Jun 2016 00:27:09
Please no you read his record omg.

2.) 20 Jun 2016 06:58:14
I also hope nothing materialises from it.

3.) 20 Jun 2016 12:31:24
SSN reports that we have not approached him and that the reports should be taken with a pinch of salt. Just typical media rubbish.

Pellegrini seems like the best option at present, i'm still not sure if he is a bit lack lustre compared to our recent managers. However, change is good!

4.) 20 Jun 2016 15:17:48
weve just approached lee johnson of bristol city . don't believe everything you read lol.

05 Jun 2016 23:54:01
Koeman to be confirmed as Everton manager tomorrow.

saintdorset

1.) 06 Jun 2016 09:51:14
So, who is stirring the pot here, I have just seen a release that RK's agent says he was misquoted and that nothing has been agreed with Everton.

2.) 06 Jun 2016 10:59:18
Deutsche - that's probably to get out of a 'tapping-up' scenario.

3.) 06 Jun 2016 11:00:17
Ron was shown the 5 year plan and verbally agreed his new contract with Les.

4.) 06 Jun 2016 11:15:23
I won't lie i'm absolutely gutted and ANGRY with the Koeman situation. There is always something, when are we going to fix this problem where we are used to profit and gain! what annoys me more is that yet another manager of ours goes and not just to another football club but to a rival, another premier league side, Koeman has all the inside knowledge of the club along with knowing the players we want to sign, this happened with poch and the spuds, everytime we go for a player you find spuds are in for them as well. Well now add the toffees to the mix and this is the biggest problem. I see this affecting who we are able to sign player wise, whoever the manager is. Its time for southampton to look at why the media always portrays us as the little club, well I think that is because of our actions and we allow it!

5.) 06 Jun 2016 11:29:23
I agree, especially with this personal message to me after renewing my season ticket and all this 'wemarchon' guff! Supposedly, Everton are now in a 'league above us' on transfer targets - whether that is true or not we'll see. He's going for the £7m a year salary rather than the improved £2.5m that he verbally agreed with Les Reed before Les did another triumphant video message to the fans. I'm sure we'll have targets already identified and some might fall by the wayside now (RK leaving), but others will surface with our new manager like Pelle did when Koeman joined. I'll be interested to see whether Erwin, Sammy and Dave Watson go - what's the scoop on Uncle Dave, Dorset?

6.) 06 Jun 2016 11:36:14
Saint Ben, I agree with you; but IF the rumours are true and RK has made an agreement with Everton then pride is at stake rather than money. Southampton DO hold all the cards, they can refuse to accept the situation and either force RK to work out his contract OR they can make him sit out the rest of contract on gardening leave while they employ a replacement.

7.) 06 Jun 2016 12:48:19
I would actually love to see us actually grow some balls and refuse him and make him see out his final year. I know people weill say that's stupid but I just feel we need to nip this in the bud! well its not a bud really as this is now the second manager to do this but i'm also talking about players! we need to man up?!

8.) 06 Jun 2016 12:50:03
It will be up to the new man regarding his coaching staff. He has no plans to leave. Erwin and JK will follow RoKo to Everton tho.

9.) 06 Jun 2016 12:50:45
So all of our so called innovations at southampton, all the tech and all the advances we have made, the little black box! another premier league team that will know all of our little secrets. It really annoys me! and i'm sorry I know everyone will say its not the boards fault, well I disagree and also Les Reed, when will you learn!

10.) 06 Jun 2016 14:05:57
Koeman is going, sad but true. He has said previously that if Saints can match his ambition he would stay.

Its quite clear Saints's offer wasn't what Koeman was expecting and when Everton have come in with silly figures he head has been turned. Expect him to sign this week and Everton to then sign the players RK would have been targeting for Saints.

Its a disappointing situation yet again for us but Les Reed is sticking by his guns and not throwing money away and wants to keep the club in a sustainable place. We are an attractive club for many managers with Europe, a great squad, proven youth and unbelievable facilities. I feel that whoever takes charge will be best for the club in the end. This will all be sorted in the next few weeks and the clubs new manager will be given time to assess the squad and look to bring in additions to help strengthen.

11.) 06 Jun 2016 14:09:56
Perhaps Saints targets will want to play in Europe? Hope so, because that's what we will be doing and what we can offer and (hopefully) what the Board are after.

We have seen with ex Saints players the lure of playing in European competition, with national managers suggesting it essential to gain entry to their teams. There may be some who will gamble for tomorrows rewards for todays money but a lot who will not.

12.) 06 Jun 2016 15:21:37
Les needs to stick by his guns and refuse to accept the situation, there is too much at stake. Is there anything like a non disclosure agreement in football like there is in the real world? If RK refuses to honour his contract then he goes on a 1 year gardening leave.

13.) 06 Jun 2016 15:51:38
Totally agree Deutsche, time for us as a club to stand up and be counted, to stop being bullied by the larger clubs, but also the clubs on our level ie: everton or even smaller. We have the reputation because we let it happen! Its time to show everyone we will stand up and be counted, not just let everyone walk all over us!

14.) 06 Jun 2016 16:08:02
But JWP we sign a new manager, great and he is even better than Koeman, amazing but he does not see out his contract? we can't keep going this way, our luck will run out! why do some fans not see the problem, we will undoubtedly lose players from our current squad as well, would you be happy to see forster go, just because he has signed a new contract does not mean he wouldn't go to everton, but If Koeman had made assurances about his own future and the club then players will sign. This will have a much bigger effect on the club and we just can't keep getting lucky!

15.) 06 Jun 2016 16:31:48
Spot on Basingstoke I just feel it will take a few more years of this happening or us or get unlucky and drop in the table for other saints fans to get the hump!

16.) 06 Jun 2016 20:01:33
Is it likely Dave Watson will leave if Koeman does? I very much hope not as he's quality and has a big impact on the reason Forster's here. Not that I think the club will sell Forster.

17.) 06 Jun 2016 21:14:56
I actually don't see it as being bullied by other clubs, that isn't actually the issue. It's more to do with the way the club is run. It's all well and good having a big stadium, amazing youth structure, world class training facilities and a sustainable growth in recent years. But those things don't matter a bit when the board come to you as a player or a manager and tell you there is little funds available to purchase new players and actually start competing on the bigger stage. If the existing players and manager/ staff want to be competing in the champions league and fighting the big guns for the premier league title and are of the quality to do so, they aren't going to hang around. Few players leave for bigger wages at a club with lower ambitions unfortunately. I really don't think RK is interested in his wages, as long as they are good I think he will accept what is offered. I think it's more to do with getting his hands on titles and cups. Let's face it, he isn't a long term manager at Everton if he does go, as soon as Barcelona speak to him he will be off. But he has a far bigger chance of getting the interest of the elite if he is getting titles and cups. Let's face it, managers are totally graded by their competition wins, Jose M, for example. He wouldn't be half the manager he is if he hadn't won anything, the only way to win is to get the backing of the board to buy and pay the wages of big wild class players. Everton can't attract a player of any higher quality than saints unless they have assurances and money. Saints need to review their spending habits or they need to look at a lower calibre of manager. Sad but true.

{Ed025's Note - good and very fair post that james mate..

18.) 06 Jun 2016 21:24:19
Everton honourable? What fee did they pay rangers when an historic club were in financial difficulty for Naismith.
Davis in the same situation yet saints paid 850,000 or so as they appreciated the situation and did the right thing. Still when Everton sold Naismith I'm sure they sent some cash north being the big club they are. 😱.

19.) 06 Jun 2016 22:34:38
Tbf saints0001 I doubt we paid much more for Davies.

20.) 06 Jun 2016 23:02:04
Jamesaint, some fair points, but Ronald has gone for money! Simply as that. He has no more chance of winning trophies at Everton than he does at southampton, saying that we are in Europe next season so that's one more trophies possibility than Everton. The best Everton can hope to finish is the same as us, around 6th and that's after Koeman has been there for a while sorting the team out. So the reality is money talks!

Players who would of improved our squad as a whole especially with Europe.

Bruno Martins Indi
Joe Allen
Bony
Remy
Zaza
Wilshere
Rojo
Benteke
Chambers
Mangala
Gnaby

I'm sure there's more. What I want to know is why we haven't expressed an interest in these.

saintdorset

1.) 01 Sep 2016 16:06:36
I thought you already knew.

2.) 02 Sep 2016 10:30:33
dorset, agree with all of those, bar zaza, I think he's average at best, (may be eating my words if he bags a few for the Hammers this season) .

3.) 02 Sep 2016 14:38:21
Do you mean why the media haven't reported any interest from us in them. We don't know who exactly we have been speaking to and if they wild actually benefit them group not just please the fans.

4.) 02 Sep 2016 18:58:38
Some of these are farcical.

Why would we loan Wilshere, pay his wages and halt the development of JWP/ Hojbjerg/ Hesketh or even Reed just to give him back to Arsenal for them to reap the rewards of the work we do with him? Same as Chambers, why loan him, pay his wages and halt the development of Valery?

Who would Martins-Indi or Rojo replace? Not VVD or Fonte. Not going to sit on the bench and earn (more than) first team wages.

We've not been linked to them because most of them would be stupid signings who would likely upset the balance of the squad. The only ones that aren't completely silly suggestions are Remy and Bony and even then they'd probably want wages far beyond our reach.

31 Aug 2016 14:20:24
Apparently our business is done. Joke. Long season ahead.

saintdorset

1.) 31 Aug 2016 14:52:54
You're a joke now go back to making up BS as that's all you're good for.

2.) 31 Aug 2016 15:32:32
It seems that way Dorset. I think we are going to be very light this season and any injuries will really hurt with our lack of depth.

Looking through Newsnow, sky, bbc, HITC etc - we're not in the running for anyone now! I think its going to be a frustrating day!

3.) 31 Aug 2016 17:52:58
I agree tough season ahead. Our rivals and some below us in the pecking order have strengthened and improved from last season. We have just replaced.

4.) 31 Aug 2016 18:00:40
I agree with you to a certain degree cyprussaint, we have done both, replaced and improved the midfield players but not:
Strikers
Broken record I know, I would like us to bring in a quality CD for what may be a longer season than usual.

5.) 31 Aug 2016 18:44:41
How do we get the Academy to function if we stuff the club with new signings?

Why did we go for CP?

6.) 31 Aug 2016 21:16:19
Are there any players in the academy that could cut it in the EPL?
RK didn't really think so,

19 Aug 2016 22:58:16
We look ok, I think we are just missing a 20 goal striker and a strong CB and maybe a DM. If Puel can't see this then we're in for a long season. Only 2 games in let's not go into suicidle mode just yet as we have the same number of points as we did 2 games in last time. We just NEED that goal scorer then we will be fine.

saintdorset

1.) 20 Aug 2016 05:35:49
Agreed. We actually looked good but very light and disorientated up front. Let's wave in that Algerian striker with a presence up front. Defensive mid I think we are ok as I rate Harrisson Reed, but certainly will need a back up CD in case Fonte or Virgil get injured (please no! )

2.) 20 Aug 2016 12:12:58
I agree saintdorset, 3 more in and positions you listed are the areas I feel need further depth.

I hope CP adapts his approach and sees that in some games a more defensive set up will be required to be successful.

02 Aug 2016 13:28:26
2 more please. It's all about numbers at this stage with Europa cup to deal with to. Get rid of dead wood like Stek and Martina. A playmaker and a striker to go, then let's have it.

saintdorset

1.) 02 Aug 2016 17:34:13
Praet and Berahino? Would be ideal.

2.) 02 Aug 2016 20:13:45
Would take that.

21 Jul 2016 09:38:56
Southampton should of bid for Joe Allen and Berahino. Two very good players who could help us massively especially with Europa as well as domestic. Both probably going to end up at Stoke. I'm a bit worried about the activity and ambition we are showing in the transfer market. I know Puel likes to give youth a chance but you need a good blend and these 2 would be good signings as would Mendy and Musa who have gone to Leicester. I'm worried we're missing out.

saintdorset

1.) 21 Jul 2016 11:02:13
There is a first for everything. A decent post from Dorset and one I agree with on all fronts. Joe Allen especially for the kind of money it will take to get him looks good business. With the players/ goals we have lost in the team this summer, I am hoping that the board have one or two players in mind that can hit the ground running.

2.) 21 Jul 2016 12:47:56
Totally agree, we gamble on youth as and when there good enough not for the sake of it, the new manager has to get used to the premier with proven quality I think the likes of Allen would have given us that.

3.) 21 Jul 2016 12:52:43
I'm sorry but what are you two on? We probably only need a midfielder that is a bit like wanyama and is defensive. Joe Allen is attacking; how many attacking midfielders do we have when we only usually play one!

4.) 21 Jul 2016 14:24:53
who in the existing team/ squad will be the replacements for 1) Mane and 2) Pelle? Thoughts.
And if not - i. e we need similar or better standard of players bought in to ensure the 'we march on' philosophy continues.

5.) 21 Jul 2016 15:02:06
Strength in depth that's what both would offer us.

6.) 21 Jul 2016 20:06:54
Where is our attacking midfielder, apart from davis (who we all rate) doesn't score regularly enough, holberg unproven in prem so think Allen or similar would have been ideal for us as 2 QUALITY players per position needed with europa etc. Would love to see replacement for pelle as feel we have willing runners but no target man.

7.) 21 Jul 2016 21:01:25
You say davis doesn't score enough and then add we should have got allen, who has 4 goals since 2012? A good 5 games with wales doesn't change my mind on him. Done nothing at liverpool.

8.) 22 Jul 2016 00:17:07
We have more than enough CM's, that should be the last position we look at, I agree we could do with a wide forward like Berahino. After that I feel that we're pretty well covered in all positions in terms of numbers, but could do with more quality in certain positions. I'd like another CB who's as good VVD or Fonte and then a RB if we get rid of Martina, unless the new manager like Vallery enough to use him as back up?

9.) 22 Jul 2016 07:28:05
Reed and Gallagher are replacements for those two in our existing squad. Whether they are good enough or better is a different argument.

10.) 22 Jul 2016 08:02:40
Why would we need joe Allen!? We've already got about 3/ 4 small central midfielders that are similar to him. If you want a replacement for wanyama then buy another unit, not another 5"6 passer of the ball. We've already got clasie, Davis, ward-prowse, plus Harry reed. In my opinion I don't think he'll buy another cm. more like a creative number 10. I think romeu will act as wanyamas replacement with hojberg as a new schneiderlin type. We need someone who can open up a defence and play in the hole a little bit more. Joe Allen is way too similar to what we already have. People seem to be obsessed with what other clubs are doing and who they're buying. "Oh stoke are buying them so that means we should be trying to get them too" as for berahino? Probably a bigger mercenary than mane with an even worse attitude. No thanks. I think we need a rb, a cb, and a tricky number 10. Maybe we should offer for barkley just to make koemans job even harder! Lol.

11.) 22 Jul 2016 10:37:16
Milky I agree. We have a lot of players who can sit deep. It just depends on what formation (s) we are running with this year. If we stick to two holding midfielders I can see Holberg and Romeu taking the starting slots. I'll be interested to see if Redmond is a starter or a sub. We'll find out in the next few weeks during the friendlies but if he does look like he is starting then I don't think we will be getting a Mane replacement as he will be it. This year the board have done a great job so far. There are too many posts on here about buying marquee players. I'd rather get the right person in a little later then panic buy now. Wee are in a really strong position as a club so everyone needs to be a little patient.

Exactly Cyprus. Another "marquee" signing like osvaldo? Or gaston? No thanks. We buy smart, not just throw money at it and hope for the best. I remember everyone harping on about stoke buying shaquiri last year and how we should have bought him. Good player granted, but did we need him? Not really. We buy players we NEED. We don't buy players just because other clubs are interested. Like I said I still think we need a tricky, creative number 10. Juanmi didn't work out, neither did gaston. I feel if we had someone to unlock some of the tough defences we could turn some draws in to wins and climb the table. Very interested to see what else we do. Very happy with signings so far.

One more thing I can say, Dave Watson was approached to take charge of Oxford United. He rejected the interview.

As you probably know. KL has stepped down from the board. I knew this was going to happen months ago. I can't say too much but we're in for a busy summer lads.

I'm simply posting what I read. Not saying it's true, hence why I put according to reports. However I don't think Passionless Puel will last the season.

Not because he's a bad player but because the fans didn't like the fact he played for there rivals.

Rather Berahino and he's off to Villa I believe.

Strength in depth that's what both would offer us.

Don't worry you're not alone. He won't stay fit all season either. How did Pierre play?

VVD will not go to Everton for a season of disappointment.
