Hi Ed's,

There's a lot rumour's (I'm guessing rumour's are just that) flying around about Jose being linked to other clubs, we wouldn't sell him surly? Have you any more info on this?

{Ed001's Note - there has been a lot of interest shown in him, but Saints' asking price has scared away the bidders up until now. I don't know of any change in that situation. I would be surprised if anyone would meet the asking price, purely because of his age, though Villa did make an enquiry earlier in the week.}

Ed001, I'm extremely surprised that Saints would actually put an "asking price" out there tbh. If that's true, what is it?

I heard pre season that Fonte had a price and we were looking to overhaul the CB's, but they expected Toby to be one with a new one in. Fonte threw his toys around a bit in getting his last extended contract & the captaincy was his by default as they didn't think that giving it to Morgan was a goer as everyone knew he was off and it made Fonte sign the new deal when he was finally (in his eyes) offered it. Fair to say he stepped up big time last season.

If this was 5 years ago, it would have been an incredible bit if business, was once supposed to be up there in the ranks of messi, Ronaldo, ibrahimovic etc, never really fullfilled that potential, probably because as ed says, he's a bit of a party animal

There was a rumour doing the rounds last summer that we in for Axel Witsel. Would this be something they're looking at again, if the was any truth to it last year. Also are we in pole position to sign Toby Aldewierald permanently?

Any inklings as to whether we'll be looking at Sam Byram again if Clyne ends up going to Man Utd? Or if you know of any other RB's we're looking at?

{Ed001's Note - Trippier was the one I was under the impression Southampton were keen on if Clyne goes. Though last I heard the club were feeling confident Clyne would sign a new contract as European football was achieved. Whether that is just wishful thinking or not, I am not sure.}

This more a wish list to strengthen the team rather than improve it as there's a good amount of talent there already.

GK Lindegaard (Man Poo)
DEF Lascelles (Notts For)
ATT MID Holtby (Fulham)
STR Wickham (Sunderland)

1.) Holtby is on loan from Tottenham. He won't be playing for Fulham next season anyway.

2.) God I hope not. We need a lot more ambition than this surely? Lindegaard is decent but the other three are no better than what we currently have!

3.) Which is why he said "strengthen", I think Holtby could be a good addittion and would add some quality to our AM's, Wickham would be ok and could potentially be a quality player and is already showing he can get goals, Lascelles although he would be a good one for the future, we already have 2 quality young CB's coming through and need a CB that can already have an impact on the first team, to compete with Fonte and Lovren so need more ambition there and Lindegaard would be ok, but again we need a real quality keeper, I'd rather Forster personally

4.) We will be looking at the English market for any additions in the summer

This is more a wishlist rather than a post with any merit to rumour's I've heard.


CB Alderwierald
AM Djuricic
Would love both of these signed on permanently.

GK Lindergaard
RB Trippier
CB Van Dijk
CDM N'Zonzi
CM Clasie
AM Deulofeu
CF Austin
CF Dost

That would give us a fighting chance in Europe I reckon and give us a bit of strength in depth for the long slog that's to come. Although I do not reckon we will see any major signing's until we have got past the Europa League qualifier.

As for departures I can really only see Schniederlin and Clyne as the players that would move on.

I think I'd only want Classie and Austin, maybe Dost from that list. Every Everton fan I have spoken to doesn't rate Deulofeu. Personally don't think Trippier is good enough for a team looking to break the top six. Lindergaard, Van Dijk and N'Zonzi are not improvements on what we have. I would like to see Toby sign and Djuricic on another loan if possible, I think he has the ability to be a seriously handy player but hasn't been given enough time to justify the sum of money we would have to pay for him. Ellja could also be handy for £ 3 million, although he is wasted playing out wide, I have a feeling he could be much better deployed in the middle (used as a squad player).

Alderweireld, Clasie and a striker are musts, Austin and/or Dost would be good.

If Djuricic was cheaper I'd take him, not sure he's done enough to justify 9m though, maybe another loan

Lindergaard would be decent on a season loan, only question over him is that he's not played a whole lot of prem football

Don't know why saints fans rate Trippier so highly, he can't defend to save his life, another one just 'cause they're young and English?

van Dijk and N'Zonzi would be disappointments imo, been linked with far, far better players than them

Not sure Djuricic did enough to earn a permanent deal, (neither did Elia) I think there are better AM out there that we could target. A lot of those would be good signings, personally I'd like:

Soares
Kjaer
Classie
Konoplyanka
Austin

Whilst using Reed, Target, Gallagher and Isgrove more too (possibly some of McQueen, Hesketh and Stephens too)

Elia is a winger and we have been playing him as part of a five man midfield.if Morgan goes I can see koeman playing more a 433 then u would get the most out of Elia in a true wingers position same goes for gaston.
But as I said we have played him as a left midfielder witch then he has to do more tracking back and less attention goes on positioning him self for a good through ball to play him in on goal exactly how he scored two against Newcastle he's fast and knows how to score same with mane. Djureic if that how u spell it is a bit to same at the moment

Is there a reason why our transfers always seem to take a while to go through? Is it the way we negotiate or that who we are negotiating with all wait for better offers? Or is it just the way it is? Ed's?

{Ed001's Note - just the way it is. You are looking at players that clubs are not actively looking to sell. In those situations the deals are only done quickly if a club offers well over the odds.}

1.) Well said ED001, as much as I want too see new players come in fast its not that simple, unless we want to pay 25% more than top price.
