Thomas Tuchel looks a possibility especially after Les Reed's interview. Young, high press game, successful (relatively), unknown compared to Koeman. Thoughts?

Believable7 Unbelievable13

Tuchel would be a class Manager - he has proven he can do things on a budget - better than no respect Koeman - Think Koeman sees us as a stepping stone to a larger club - we need a manager who wants to stay and grow with the club

Agree7 Disagree10

Would Tuchel not see us as a stepping stone then?

I think unfortunately, until we can break into and be consistent as a top 6 team everyone will see us as a stepping stone.

My wish for next season is get a manager, build on the squad then be above Spurs.

Agree23 Disagree1

Tuchel is more likely to see us a stepping stone he probably would be looking for the Spurs when Mopo gets sacked at Christmas

Agree12 Disagree2

Isn't he having a year out of football?

Agree5 Disagree3

I would have liked tuchel, but reports indicate is having a year out of football. The les reed interview to me, pointed towards koeman.

Agree7 Disagree1

I'm not so worried about Managers using us as a stepping stone, or moving on for that matter (because realistically it'll always happen as with players!) - The only thing I hope is that whoever we bring in will take us to the next level. If this continues to happen then the club will always progress :-)

Agree7 Disagree2

I agree with you SaintBen1, as long as we progress that's the main thing. But again, having that consistency in a manager is something we all would like to see but never actually happens anywhere for any club. Just have to look at the top teams in the world (man city change managers every two years, Man U, Barcelona etc. ) There will be changes no matter where you go, you can't expect someone to stay in the same job for 25 years people like a new challange.

Agree3 Disagree0

Mancini? I'd prefer koeman. Still set on koeman ROcket?

I missed the titles, big european fixtures etc etc that Tuchel has won that were quoted directly by Les Reed as something the canditate has. Its Koeman or FDB at this point. Outside chance of Yakin.

Agree0 Disagree1

Any manager would use Southampton FC as a stepping stone. Let's face it guys, we're not Real Madrid. We do need stability, and a high profile manager like Koeman would calm things down. There are players with 1 year left of their contracts that needs to be taken care of: Fonte, Cork, Boruc, Yoshida. Then there are the ones figuring in the daily transfer rumors. Lallana and Shaw should only be allowed to leave by handing in a transfer request, and they buying club meeting the Saints valuation of the player (s).

Agree4 Disagree0

Definitely need to get cork, jay rod and fonte on new deals Coyr. Get koeman in this week, and announce it. Anything in Mancini link ED?

Agree4 Disagree6

Stevo98 I admire your persistence. From what I have heard I can't see past koeman but believe me Mancini would be a disaster. He would have been better at a ruthless setup. Spurs?

Papers are saying that Luke Shaw has agreed personal terms with Utd, but then go on to say that we are not accepting any offers until after the world cup, so surely they can't agree personal terms until we have accepted an offer?

The club could have given him permission to talk to Man Utd. Him agreeing terms doesn't mean the club agrees a fee.

Agree2 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - They have not done that.}

Good to hear. Should no transfer business be happening before the World Cup?

Agree3 Disagree6

Anything in us approaching Ings?

Agree3 Disagree6

{Ed002's Note - Stoke and Newcastle are looking to take Danny Ings in the summer and Southampton have made an enquiry with his agent. Burnley, now promoted will look to keep him.}

Ok so it's not true then, maybe that's what their prepared to offer him then

Agree1 Disagree1

He has signed a 5 year deal at &160k per week.

Agree7 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - I don't know where you get this from but it is simply not true. Until a fee is agreed with Southampton Shaw will not be allowed to discuss anything with Manchester United and certainly he cannot sign anything. His agent can agree what he wants with Manchester United.}

A fee has been agreed! It has been agreed for a while. There are a lot of things going on behind the scenes that we will learn more about after the world cup. The board are doing everything in their power to appear in control but have be dealt a tough hand by the previous manager & chairman. They will take us forward & we are in good hands but we will lose some players. They are timeing the announcements of certain things to stop a mutiny.

Agree3 Disagree18

Rocket, you have been a big believer of the player "exodus" from the start. I'm not saying you are wrong, although I hope your wrong lol.
But if there is no player exodus, and your earlier comments about the club needing to raise £80m ( correct me if I'm wrong) then I don't think you would be flavour of the month lol
I'm leaving my mind open for now, and hope any decision made has the club in their best intrerests :)

Agree3 Disagree0

Ive never said anything about a player exodus. But I do know that!

1. Lambert is gone
2. Shaw is all but gone
3. Lallana is 50/50
4. Osvaldo is likely to go on loan
5. Saints have talked to Torino about selling Ramirez

I think its fair to say there will be some change

Agree4 Disagree7

Oh. And the £80m comment wasnt me lol

Agree3 Disagree4

For the record I have said 60 million to cover transfers and the training ground BUT there will be money from sky etc for new players and could be more than 50 million. The plan is to produce stars of the future, sell one a season to hopefully bankroll the next group of stars. Not sure about 80 million.

Agree1 Disagree1

Oh and rocket. Slightly disagree about lallana. As I understand it if he doesn't get a move he will try and force it.

Agree4 Disagree0

I think we should definitely look to do a part exchange with torino if gaston goes. Torino have some good players

Agree3 Disagree4

Who I think will leave:

Shaw 30m

Osvaldo 12m (After the sunderland game in the beginning of the season I got an Osvaldo shirt. oops. )

Schneiderlin 16m

There is not going to be a mass player exit, remember what the press said about the club when Adkins left. Player unrest . people wanting to leave and NONE of it ever happened. The press love to pick on the perceived small guy, the club has never been in such a strong financial position or had such a talented group of young players. The club owes Miss Liebherr approx 78 million pounds and is worth circa 220 million, not a bad 5 year investment 200 per cent yield! She won't sell and this dark cloud that was generated by the press will soon disperse.

Agree6 Disagree3

Ok put my hands up, can't remember who it was. Did you see the les reed interview? I want to believe this guy, things are looking positive.

Agree2 Disagree3

Yeah I think I have my people mixed up. I'm sure they will comment, but I think shaw and maybe lallana could be convinced to stay. Soon find out though, once they appoint the manager we can all sit back and enjoy the World Cup

Agree4 Disagree1

Good point Saintsmiff. For me the most pleasing thing is despite our views, potential knowledge etc we ALL want the best for saints!

You've been found out Rocket. Clearly board are trying to get the right manager in and hope he can persuade players to stay, so no bids have been accepted. I don't believe clubs have bidded amounts being quoted, yet. They have silly add ons to get to the 27m etc. Big transfers like these will rumble on till the end of the transfer window like Bales. Of course I could be wrong but this is my opinion
